It started in your foot. Now it’s in your head. All that remains is the command: GO UP. Meet strange neighbors. Make bad trades. Every ascent teaches you what you should have done differently.

About
The only thought left is: GO UP.
The building has thirty floors. Your body has problems - hunger, thirst, exhaustion. The infection doesn’t care. It only wants altitude.
Your body is in shambles... but the foot keeps climbing.
The building is not haunted. The people in it are not monsters - and they want things. Junk. Food. Favors. Someone to do something mildly humiliating to their neighbor.
A few of them know things they shouldn't. And maybe what they know has something in common.
You're the only one collecting the pieces.
The building is the same every time you climb it. The neighbors are the same. The trades are the same. The vending machine on the ground floor has the same stock.
What changes is what you know.
Every run, you learn something. A shortcut. A better trade. An item you thought was useless until it saved your life. Slowly, the building starts to make sense.
You’ll know what to do next time.
But your foot isn’t waiting.
MOLDRISE features a full-length original soundtrack, composed by Mike Klubnika, creator of Buckshot Roulette, s.p.l.i.t., and Machine Party.
First-person survival horror. Retro aesthetics. A thirty-floor apartment building with no empty floors and no happy endings.

Very atmospheric without real jumpscares. My only complaint is that some neighbors keep telling you to stay put, while its obviously better to go up. Upwards is where you find freedom. Air's better too.
My tighty whities turned into brownie frownies after I said I liked pineapple pizza and got shot. 11/10

Невероятно атмосферная и калоритная игра, прошел на одном дыхании. жаль ,что слишком маленькая и нет (офицального) русского языка
boring
Like a pig in a blanket. Short and sweet
This is a small horror exploration puzzle / metroidbrainia game. You have a strange growth on your foot and a compulsion to go up, up, up to the roof of your 30-floor apartment building. You explore the building from a first person perspective, talk to inhabitants, and there is also a resource-management survival element to the gameplay that can be turned off (I left it on). At the very beginning I wasn't convinced about the tone, but I got into the swing of it and finished it in about two and a half hours, enjoying it all the while. As it is with these types of games, the less you know upfront, the better. I really liked the apartment building theme, I thought it allowed for a tight narrative without needing a vast heap of assets from the developer. Here is some spoilery discussion - I wondered how graphic the game would get:
the intro is actually the most graphic. The rest of the game is not very graphic otherwise and leaves a lot up to the imagination, as the deterioration of your body is conveyed via sound effects.
Something I really liked is that at first I thought
everyone in the building would be out to kill me,
but that's not the case.
Some people are mean. Some are nice. And some are in fact out to kill you, but most of them aren't.
I also appreciated that
the game was ultimately also a reflection on how pandemics are mishandled, it felt timely without being annoying about it.
My usual "is it a metroidbrainia" section: It is, very obviously so. But it is a short game, and (mild spoilers on the types of puzzles the game includes, if this is of interest to you):
a lot of the knowledge elements are 'find the password' or 'learn that this specific object is hidden in this specific spot' and not as structural. However, the general story as it unfolds is also nonlinear and knowledge-based.
Technical details: I played on the Steam Deck docked to the TV, with a PS4 controller, and it ran nicely and without any problems. If you liked the game, I also recommend Carimara: Beneath the Forlorn Limbs, which is also a small horror exploration game with metroidbrainia elements, but it has a different tone. ___ Source of the game: Bought with my own money (with the launch discount)
Bin jetzt ganz schimmlig
I had a phenomenal time with MOLDRISE. I started and finished it in one evening, making it the perfect way to spend a Friday evening! The atmosphere, the tension, the intrigue…it’s everything I want from an indie horror game and I highly recommend people play it. Can’t wait to see what Raffaele Picca cooks up next!
nice little indy game
