While I mostly enjoy the game itself it has one of the most toxic chats to ever exist, moderation is virtually non-existent and reports go ignored. Blatant racism is the norm and the devs condone it.

I don't usually write reviews. If a game is good, it'll get good reviews anyway; if it's bad, it'll get bad ones. The market will sort it out. But Mistfall Hunter is special.
Great combat that's impossible to enjoy.
The game has a good combat system. Every class feels unique, the skills let you put together at least two playable builds for any class, and the limited number of skill points keeps builds from becoming too universal. So every build has a counterpick that gives it a hard time, and only skill and luck decide who comes out on top. But that's only on paper. In practice, every patch has a class that stands out, and that's normal. What's not normal is how the combat actually feels: constant server-side desyncs ruin the whole experience. You press dodge to avoid an attack, and it doesn't trigger. You use the breakaway dodge, and you get rubber-banded back and take extra damage with no way to dodge again. You want to dodge an enemy's skill? Go ahead and try, but you probably won't manage it, because the enemy lagged and 80% of that skill's animation never showed up on your screen. And the problem isn't the servers, it's the netcode. I have some experience with online PvP games, and this is the first game I've played where
60 ping is unplayable
, because if your opponent's ping is lower than yours, chances are you're getting stomped. The netcode is so bad it feels like it was outsourced to guys whose day job is calling retirees and pretending to be Google support.
Extraction without the extraction
Besides PvP, which makes up 70% of the content, there are other problems. The economy is straight out of a banana republic. The loot you find on maps is worth nothing, so little that everything except legendaries and gear sells for more to a vendor than on the auction house. That means to stay profitable, you have to survive three raids out of every four. This could be fixed with a single quality of life patch: just let items stack up to three in the inventory. That alone would change the gameplay loop. Points of interest on the maps would start to matter, and so would bosses and minibosses. The second, and honestly the only, way to make money is PvP, which turns into a casino where the server is the dealer and you're the gambling addict who keeps coming back, hoping that this time your opponent will lag more than you. Add to that a blacksmith who crafts gear with
random stats
in random amounts, so the item usually isn't worth the materials, and who only hands you one item every three hours, meaning a full set takes a whole day of real time. And there you have it: the perfect economy.
Think you have a powerful PC? Think again
Unreal Engine is a controversial engine. A lot of people dislike it because games made on it all look the same and are often poorly optimized. But it does have upsides, not one but two, and they're called C++. In skilled hands, an Unreal game can be optimized to run on a 15-year-old graphics card. Sure, it'll look like crap, but it'll run. A great example is Wukong, made by Chinese developers who actually know what they're doing. Yes, Wukong isn't an online game and doesn't have to serialize any data, but let's be honest: Mistfall looks mediocre and runs even worse. On the second map (Brandgarde), you'll get FPS drops on any machine. In conclusion, I can only say this: the game has other problems I haven't covered, but
I'd really like it to succeed and have lots of players
. This could have been (and still can be, if the developers at least fix the netcode) a really great product. But
at this stage, it's unplayable.
2/10 cool concept. But unplayable. Huge ping due to server issue in fights
devs have no clue what they are doing. nerfing every class but this fcking broken ass SS. clowns
Server lag is unbearable NA servers are a joke. dont even bother playing. West coast ping is bad, and Central ping is bad.
