Highli recomend. For fans and players that like Tactic games like FF Tactics or Front Mission! :)

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Cool little game when you get the hang of it, I would have preferred it without the rogue lite loop, but hey ho, it is what it is
For a "roguelike" wannabe, it takes way too long to finish a single run. I needed around 3 hours to do a single run from start to finish, which is too long for a single try, and to just upgrade a few miniscule things (felt like less than 5% of the shop). Combat it alright, but some maps have too many enemies for its own good, especially in the "protect Rumi" type of missions, that can end in a single turn if the RNG is not on your side. Overall, a very subpar turn-based roguelike compared to what else is on the market. 5/10
Metal Slug tactics is a Nintendo Switch game that was ported (badly) to PC as an attempt from SNK to wring blood out of a stone and abuse the Metal Slug franchise for every penny they can squeeze out of it. It's getting worse than the bit in Spaceballs when they showed off all the merchandise like "Spaceballs: The Toilet Paper". This time they decided to see if PC gamers would tolerate a Nintendo Switch turn based tactical game if they didn't bother testing it properly (it's full of bugs) and did a mediocre effort porting it to PC. And even for a Nintendo Switch "roguelike", this is a shallow and pointless wreck of a game. On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers. Because this is designed for handheld/portable gaming appliances, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the low power handheld gaming appliances that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate compromises and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was a second thought for the mobile game developers. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for low power handhelds forces upon a game. While this might run well on a Steam Deck, we must remember the vast majority of gamers here are gaming on PC. To make matters worse, not only does this have pixelcrap "art", the pixelcrap isn't even applied consistently across the whole game. That jarring mismatch ruins any genuine "retro" authenticity from this pixelcrap nightmare. The inconsistency with the pixelcrap is a tacit admission that the developer was aware they could have done better but chose not to. Making a game look bad, on purpose. That's an insult. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals. The game features no proper level design or game/story flow/plot, as they opted to try to use samey repetitive procgen algorithms as a substitute for adding such content to the game, to avoid doing the important job of level/map design. As a result, the game doesn't actually have any content worth mentioning, just endless, boring, repetitive, soulless algorithmically generated sameyness. Developers must learn that procedural generation is not an acceptable substitute for content. We know Roguelites and Roguelikes are mostly slapped together by developers who are basically lazy and don't want to create bespoke content, resulting in that shallow, repetitive, soulless experience of procgen algorithms instead of content, but this is even shallower than most, there's just a couple of map forms and a couple of randomly placed enemy types, so you've seen the entire game after the first couple of missions. Worse, you have to grind those samey missions to unlock more of the "game", such as it is. This is painful, especially considering the woeful visuals and technical quality. These technical shortcomings push this game below minimum standards for any competently developed modern PC game. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality game this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 140,000+ games on Steam? Metal Slug Tactics has the preposterous price of $25 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. For comparison, the INSANE $25 asking price for this game could get you games like "Crusader Kings III", "Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord" or "Rimworld". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. No pixelcrap is worth $25. If developers want to get paid the same kind of money as real game developers who know how to do graphics properly, they need to learn how to do graphics properly.
