Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
13 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

This is my #2 most played game on steam, behind MGSV. Am I a Metal Gear fan? Yes. Am I a Kojima loyalist? No. I don't even know what it means to be "loyal" to someone who makes games. I play his games. Some I like. Some I don't. Did I go into Survive expecting it to me a Metal Gear game? No. Did I get a Metal Gear game? No. What I got was one of the most fun tower defense games I've ever played. I wasn't big on the tower defense genre before this, and now I've bought up a ton of them - Orcs Must Die, Kingdom Rush, Bloons, whatever. I still like Survive best. I would still gladly play it again, and keep grinding the post-game content.
Best game in the franchise. (konami is holding me at gunpoint)

13 on sale2 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 2 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Sep 16: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 13 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Controversial opinion, but this is one of my favourite games. I can't think of another game that has 3rd person action, survival, crafting, stealth, base building, and tower defense rolled into one package. If you like all of those things, this is worth a closer look. CONS: - The first hour is boring. The story is pretty bad until the last half. There are a few animated cut scenes, but most of the story is told through still photos of characters. The acting is spotty. Some people hate that the early game is essentially "hide behind a fence and poke zombies with a spear". - There are easily avoidable microtransactions. You won't need them to accomplish anything. Most famously and egregiously, if you want a second character, you must purchase a second character slot. There isn't any reason to do so, and this is hardly the only game to ever require such a thing, but let's face it, it leaves a bad taste in the mouth. - Always online! One day the servers will go down and you won't be able to play any more. - It's a Metal Gear game that's barely relevant to that title. It should have been a new IP. PROS: - Unique combination of genres unlike anything else. - Based on Metal Gear Solid V's engine, so it plays just as well. - I love the helpless feeling of wandering into the unknown, losing access to the map, all while your oxygen quickly dwindles. - Campaign that gives you reasons to keep going after you finish the story. - Fairly in depth base building. Build gardens, collect water, cook food, build various types of fences and barricades, add mortars and traps to the perimeter, upgrade structures to access better gear and obtain other benefits. - Assign NPC allies to defense, tending the resources, exploration, medication, and more. I could go on, but I won't. I love this game, flaws and all. It's not for everyone, but for the right type of player, there's nothing else that scratches the itch quite like Metal Gear Survive.

It is a game that is ahead of it's time and compared to a lot of survival games, there is a clear progression throughout the game that felt natural. First it was getting food and water, then making up base, and then getting the ♥♥♥♥ out. The melee combat felt a bit slow and ammunitions in the game is too slow. If you only engage in single player, the game will definitely be harder, but it's not like it's impossible. Main gameplay involve going to a zone with limited time, then going back to the base, resupplying, then going back to venture deeper into the zone. Zone exploration is marked with a teleporter that function like a checkpoint to your exploration. The whole game felt more or less as an open world survival horror, which is something I welcome. Coop is still alive, just need to join https://discord.gg/26qE999D which is the metal gear survival discord. Otherwise, go to steam discussion and I'm sure people will come. The coop itself is very fun and would help make the single player experience easier. Sad that the game came out on the wrong time, for otherwise a really great survival horror. Completion review: I think toward the end, there was the understanding that from the devs that the game will probably not sell well, mostly because the way the story was written in a way that on the end mission the devs wanted to cheer you on for finishing what appear to be a budgeted games. I can say that while the game story felt a bit rush, most of the story was done through the gameplay of the single player being so tense throughout each encounters. Then on the coop, everything took a breath with the ridiculousness of having multiple people and weird gadget all of you can throw. By the end of the game, nothing really changes in term of plot, but the game becomes a sorta Clash of Clans set up your defenses for automatic attack. More side mission is opened and class as well and all I gotta say is that the game cut content was thrown into this post story game. There are a lot of ♥♥♥♥ to do and it's not busy work, most of the time it's spent trying to build up your base into something great so you can get a currency to buy premium currency to unlock more character (which will make it easier for you to unlock more characters). There was this free 2 play, additive loop that didn't feel really out of place if you enjoyed the game and if you don't, you can always opt out of this Clash of Clans mechanic. It is sorta sad that I think we will never see a true sequel or a spin like this, the game in the end felt similar to dead rising in the way zombies are made "fun" off instead of being a threat at the end. A lot of survival games focuses on hunger and thirst, Survive post game focuses on "have fun building bases and playing around" which is always the japanese sorta view of making hard stuff light (like dead rising). I hope that the devs that designed this game will get to work on many great projects, I wish them the best.
