MegaGlest is a 3d real time strategy game with a very strong AI. Single player games and especially multiplayer co-op games are much fun. The game already has a lot of content and it is very easy to make new content, especially new maps.

игра мясо всем рекомендую
a small but very good rts game . as far as I am concerned it's better than Age of empire or War craft as a little game and I found it ocationally on net about in 2005 . lucky to find it on steam.
It's a fun little RTS that has been around for a long time in various forms. The CPU opponents are actually pretty decent to play against and the fights can get really crazy with all of the unique units the game has. I first played it on FreeBSD back in 2011 when it was one of the only games available to me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. While I probably won't put too much time into the Steam version, I wanted to support this project as soon as I saw it on here. Definitely worth giving it a try.
MegaGlest, developed by SoftCoder and published by the Mega Glest Team, is a free and open-source real-time strategy game that proudly carries the spirit of classic RTS design into the modern era. Built as an evolution of the original Glest project, MegaGlest refines and expands upon its predecessor with additional factions, improved mechanics, and a strong emphasis on community-driven content. Rather than chasing cutting-edge visuals or cinematic campaigns, the game focuses on delivering a solid strategic foundation rooted in resource management, base construction, and large-scale battlefield tactics. Its identity is firmly anchored in traditional RTS principles, making it particularly appealing to players who grew up with genre staples and still appreciate deliberate, economy-focused gameplay. At its core, MegaGlest follows the familiar RTS loop of harvesting resources, constructing buildings, researching upgrades, and training armies to overpower opponents. Players must balance economic growth with military readiness, ensuring that supply lines remain stable while preparing defenses against potential attacks. The game features multiple resource types such as gold, wood, stone, and food, each essential to expanding your infrastructure and maintaining troop production. Strategic decision-making begins almost immediately, as players must determine optimal base layouts, unit composition, and expansion timing. Poor resource allocation can quickly lead to vulnerability, while efficient planning creates momentum that is difficult for opponents to counter. One of the defining strengths of MegaGlest lies in its faction variety. The game offers several distinct civilizations, including historically inspired groups such as Romans, Persians, Egyptians, Indians, and Norsemen, alongside more fantastical factions like Tech and Magic. Each faction has unique units, architectural styles, and strategic tendencies, encouraging experimentation and replayability. Some civilizations emphasize brute-force infantry assaults, while others lean into ranged combat, cavalry mobility, or mystical units with specialized abilities. The asymmetry between factions creates dynamic matchups that reward players who understand both their own strengths and their opponent’s weaknesses. Mastery comes not only from quick reactions but from anticipating enemy strategies and adapting accordingly. The single-player experience primarily revolves around skirmishes and scenario-based missions rather than a story-driven campaign. While it lacks a cinematic narrative arc, the game compensates with a wide range of maps and customizable match settings that keep engagements fresh. Terrain plays an important role in shaping tactics, as choke points, rivers, forests, and elevation differences can significantly influence battle outcomes. The artificial intelligence provides a respectable challenge, capable of mounting coordinated attacks and expanding efficiently. Multiplayer support further extends longevity, allowing competitive or cooperative matches with friends and other players online. Coordinated team battles, in particular, highlight the depth of strategic planning that MegaGlest enables. Visually, MegaGlest reflects its open-source origins. The 3D models and animations are functional rather than flashy, prioritizing clarity over spectacle. Units are distinct and readable on the battlefield, which is crucial in large engagements where quick visual recognition impacts strategic choices. The camera system allows players to rotate and zoom freely, providing flexible battlefield oversight. Sound design supports the action with clear audio cues for construction, combat, and resource gathering, though it remains understated compared to major commercial releases. While the graphical fidelity may not compete with high-budget RTS titles, the presentation effectively serves gameplay and maintains performance stability even during large-scale conflicts. Perhaps the most compelling aspect of MegaGlest is its open-source and mod-friendly nature. The game’s architecture allows players to modify factions, maps, and mechanics through accessible configuration files, encouraging community creativity. Over time, this has led to the development of additional content, custom scenarios, and gameplay tweaks that extend the base experience. The absence of a paywall further strengthens its appeal, offering a fully featured RTS without financial barriers. For players interested in both playing and experimenting with game design elements, MegaGlest provides an inviting platform. Overall, MegaGlest stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of classic real-time strategy. It may not deliver cinematic storytelling or ultra-modern production values, but it excels in offering strategic depth, faction diversity, and replayability within a community-supported framework. For fans of traditional RTS gameplay who value tactical planning, economic management, and the freedom to customize their experience, MegaGlest offers a robust and rewarding battlefield that continues to evolve through its dedicated player base. Rating: 7/10
um dos melhores jogos que joguei nesse estilo
Un très bon jeu que j'ai découvert à l'époque où il ne s'appelait encore que Glest 200. De nombreuses factions / map / sol et scénarios à télécharger !
