I'm currently maybe 6 or so hours in on this (I know it says 7; I left it running for a bit.) Initial impression is.... it reminds me a lot of the older MechWarrior games I played in the early days of 3d; it's mech-stomping fun, but it's way grindier than I would like it to be. I understand wanting to make people unlock things, but you need so many points of this that and the other thing to just unlock a similar arm for a mech so you can fit more laser weapons, for example. I'm not looking forward to the grind that I know is ahead of me, but the game is also fun enough so far that I know I'm going to do it until I have a mech that can run as many PPCs as I want. There's also a ton of content that's locked behind DLC's, which.... it's 2026, I get it, they need to make money - I just kinda wish they wouldn't put all the things you can't play with right in front of you and tell you to bugger off anytime you try to buy one. I feel like there's a difference between making the DLC feel expansive for a base game versus hiding stuff they know you want behind a paywall, and this definitely is presented as the latter. As for how it runs... I hit hiccups and minor stutters here and there, but I think that's probably more an issue with Windows doing ♥♥♥♥ it shouldn't in the background. It's generally been running completely fine on my modest machine. ________________________________________________________ Edit:// I've now beaten the base campaign so much as I wanted to, and have essentially beaten all of the DLC content so much as I'm going to. (Hours played is a bit misleading; I've left it on a lot by accident, but it's probably around 80-100 actual hours with all the DLC's at this point.) The game is fun, and I would still recommend it, but there's a lot kinda wrong with it from a game design standpoint that makes it imperfect in a way that's actually very frustrating as a player. The way they handle mech experience is annoying, because it takes a ton of time and effort to unlock upgrades for your mechs, and it doesn't even carry over between campaigns - which maybe makes sense from a narrative standpoint, but it isn't fun for the player, and that honestly kinda sucks. I should be excited to buy a new mech, but instead I have to hit the simpod and replay missions over and over if I want to even be able to equip the damn thing, or rotate up and down - which is on its face ridiculous. The bugs and crashes other reviews mentioned I did eventually start to encounter when i bought the newest DLC (Wolves of Tukayyid), but I really had no issue with this prior to that with the base game and the other two DLC's that I played first. Occasional stuttering prior, which was annoying, but I'm guessing it's just the game being a little badly optimized. The crashing, however, was very annoying, because it would happen to me at the worst times (like 75% of the way through a mission). One time I couldn't make my mech walk at the start of a level, which was also annoying. (I tried opening and closing menus, tabbing out, etc - nothing helped, and other commands had stopped working for some reason. It was weird.) But, that all aside, there really isn't a lot of good competition in this space, so this is kinda by default one of the best recent mech games I've played ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Where do I even start with this game...? I will start off with this: if you are looking to blow 30 bucks out of morbid curiosity on what feels like Temu grade Mechwarrior 5 to play with friends, this game is perfect. On paper, it looks like the natural evolution of MW5 with more streamlined movement, scanning/hacking and a tactical screen. In practice? Aiming feels like a clunky experience. You have turn the sensitivity real low for precise shots and have to turn it back up because it takes 3 whole business days to rotate 90 degrees otherwise. The mech market has half of the mechs locked behind a paywall and the mech customization feels... lacking. The story and dialogue feels like it was generated by ChatGPT's lobotomized step cousin, which is somehow worse than MW5's storyline (Which is a pretty low bar as is). All and all, it is a "fun" game if you just want to goof off with friends because you have nothing better to play. But if you actually want to have real fun, good ol' MW5 does it way better.
After spending hundreds of hours on MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries (PS5), Clans turned out to be a major disappointment due to completely misplaced priorities. Instead of innovating a gameplay loop, physics, and AI that have remained essentially unchanged for twenty years, the developers shifted the focus toward narrative, cutscenes, and endless dialogue. For those seeking raw combat and deep simulation, these constant interruptions just ruin the pacing. On top of that, the Mech roster is drastically reduced—losing much of the fun related to customization and lab management—and the UI feels surprisingly clunky compared to past entries. Add the lack of Italian localization, and the result is a restrictive and boring experience. If you want freedom, a rich sandbox, and pure combat, stick with Mercenaries.
I have 6 hours in-game only trying to get key bindings and joysticks to work properly (still in Tutorial level!). Lots of graphical glitches, performance issues, bad jank. Devs should focus fixing the main game instead releasing boring overpriced DLCs. Luckily I bought this game with a huge discount, do not support this type of business!
It is Mechwarrior as it used to be. Awesome.
It is an interesting addition to the universe. Gameplay is pretty simple and there are some team management dynamics. The ability to customize the loadout on each mech is always fun. I have not noticed any bugs or issues in gameplay thus far. If you love the MechWarrior universe I would recommend this game as it is quite immersive.
Simply the best.
超长坐牢量大管饱cg,结局1可以,结局2太逗比了,这种上级你不跑等着倒霉吧。自由度太低了,不如雇佣兵
After 10 hours the game suddenly wont start, no matter what I try. At this point I've tried at least 10 solutions. None work. Absolute shame as I enjoyed this game. But now its suddenly broken. I'll be requesting a refund. The first refund I ever requested on steam EVER after 14 years and a 600 game+DLC libray
This is not a bad game, but not a good one either. I'll try to keep it brief: The PRO's: - Interesting story - Decent voice acting - Classic Mechwarrior gameplay, not too dissimilar from MW5 - Decent Mech customization options and weapons array. The game will even let you change the size of the engine (sometimes) - a feat witch MW5 Mercs does not allow w/o mods. - Some of the missions are very fun - more so then the ones in the MW5 Mercs campaings| - Decent variety of Mechs and Weapons The CONS: - Poor performance on mid-end computers. Playable, but stutters and sometimes has graphical glitches. No issues on high end machines. - Poor graphics quality for an UE5 game. - Horrible HUD. UI elements are too large and cannot be resized. Weapon PIPs are noware in your field of view. Adds a very annoying fighter-jet like opaque rectangle that outlines ~1/4 of the center of the screen that follows the targeting reticle witch I find incredibly distracting. Reticle is too large. Zoom levels are, like in MW5, not sufficient. - Wonky gameplay. Enemy mechs are damage sponges. Clan weapons, despite supposibly being clearly superior to IS counterparts feel very very weak in this game, particularly ballistics. The UAC20 and LBX20 are supposed to be devastating up close. In MW5 clans, both of these weapons feel more like an UAC10 and LBX10 from MW5 Mercs. The UAC10 and LBX10 fill like the AC5 and UAC5 from mercs, and so on. Weak, no punch, no power. Missiles, particularly SRMs are also quite gutless. In MW5 Mercs SRM's are devastating up close. In Clans, they're more of an annoyence. Enemy mechs are damage sponges, while yours feel like they're made of paper. Lasers and Pulse Lasers are OK, but generate a lot more heat then they do in Mercs. PPCs are mediocre - Clan ERPPCs are supposed to be much better then IS versions, but the ones in Clans just feel weak. - Despite having a lot of customization options, more so than in Mercs, most options are permanently locked down. For example, the only mech I could find where I could change the size of the engine is the Kodiak... The armor management system is also quite rudimentary. You can't remove armor, you can only add it. I really wish i could recommend this game, but I really can't. It's OK, grab it if it's on sale, but otherwise, from both a graphics and gameplay perspective, MW5 Mercs is a clearly superior game.
