The pixel-art violence, the chaos, the sheer supremacy of smashing pixelated fools—it almost rivals my own plans to conquer Castle Grayskull! And listen closely, you clueless buffoons, for I shall share a tactical advantage with you: Do not wander into the cosmic void blind! Look up the Cosmic Matrix Rewards List beforehand so you can hoard your Cosmic Cubes efficiently! Plan your route to unlock glorious alternate Hero Palettes first, because if you are going to lay waste to the universe, you must do it in style! 11/10 — A devilishly good time worthy of the Overlord of Evil! Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a really fun game to jump into when you just want some simple Marvel action without having to think too much. The gameplay is very straightforward, but honestly, that works pretty well here. You pick your character, beat the absolute hell out of some enemies and move on to the next fight. It’s easy to understand, feels satisfying and makes the game great for playing casually. One of the biggest strengths is definitely the character selection. There are plenty of recognizable Marvel characters to choose from, and switching between them keeps things from getting too repetitive. Every character has their own attacks and abilities, so experimenting with different combinations is a big part of the fun. Seeing all these characters fighting together also gives the game that classic comic-book chaos that fits Marvel perfectly. The level design is another highlight. The stages look great and do a good job of constantly giving you something new to fight through instead of making everything feel like one long corridor. There are some really cool environments that make the journey feel more like an actual Marvel adventure rather than just a series of random arenas. The biggest problem is probably the length. The main game is over pretty quickly, which can leave you wanting more. Luckily, there is an Arcade Mode, which gives you a reason to keep playing after finishing the main content. It’s basically the perfect place to mess around with different characters, try out combinations and just enjoy the combat without worrying too much about the story. Overall, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is nothing incredibly deep, but it doesn’t really need to be. It’s a simple, fun and entertaining Marvel game that works especially well when you want something you can play for a little while and just have a good time with. The short campaign holds it back, but the Arcade Mode and great character roster give it some extra staying power. 7/10
