Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 36.14/day in the week to Jul 22 → 49.38/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Bungie is a legendary game studio - I remember a time when it felt like they could do no wrong. But lately it feels like the only thing for which they have a legendary aptitude is taking some of the most beloved IP in gaming and running it square into the ground. Necromancing Marathon, a foundational video-game sci-fi franchise, simply to let it walk around wearing the skin of the latest flavor-of-the-moment genre - the extraction shooter - is yet another misstep in their fall from grace. Credit where it's due, even despite that embarrassing art-plagiarism scandal, the art style is easily one of the game's biggest strengths. Unfortunately, it's most readily on display in the menus, as impressive high-res portraits/avatars of your AI handlers for whom you becoming nothing more than an errand boy. Just like Tarkov, Arc Raiders, etc., your interactions start and end with pointing and clicking your way around these menu tabs, taking direction on what pieces of functionally-identical refuse you'll need to collect your next time out. And if you thought you might interact with other players, you would be sorely mistaken. Unless you take refuge in the PvE mode they tacked on in a panic as player counts steadily dropped, every interaction with another human will take place at the end of the gun. The existence of a proximity chat function is genuinely laughable considering the temperament of the players who inhabit this game. Say what you will about Arc Raiders, it's certainly not plagued by the kind of joyless self-seriousness that characterizes Marathon. Communication is so vestigial to this community that it stings even harder that this game went the allegedly-fashionable extraction route rather than committing to pure PvP. Even Bungie's historical strengths are muted or tainted here. The guns feel great, but the best ones are, in Destiny fashion, simply analogs of classic Halo weapons. The environments are often overlaid in a drab haze, flat and unremarkable until they erupt into gunfire that is some of the least-readable combat Bungie has ever designed. The mobility differences between shells is really enjoyment-killing. And whatever sauce the core gunplay might possess is hindered by the classic extraction-shooter foible of granular upgrade trees, your entire progression nothing more than pumping points into minute percentage increases. As reasons to soldier on go, it's deeply unmotivating - and that's the tale of Marathon as a whole. As it turns out, pulling squares of different rarity tiers from filing cabinets and waiting to be shot in the back by mute PvPers playing with all the whimsy of insurance adjusters... just isn't a real recipe for success. Who knew?
Some potentially hot takes before I actually review this: 1. As someone who used to love Destiny... the game was already dying. It's just coincidental timing, and anyone who says they CHOSE this over Destiny is operating with half a brain cell. 2. There is a learning curve. If you want a game where you can just turn your brain off, this isn't for you. 3. You can choose to have an open mindset and no attachment to your loot, or you can treat it like it's gold. Either way, you can't win every single engagement, and if you can't handle the thought of losing gear, competitive extraction games just aren't for you. It's not the game's fault you're bad. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That being said, Marathon is a great Bungie game. If you like Halo as a shooter, you'll have a blast here. Movement is smooth and varied across the different shells, and everything feels responsive—aside from some terrain/mantle issues that come with the Tiger engine. There is a learning curve at first, but once you get some runs in, you don't even have to overthink the different items, cores, and implants you find. You know what you're looking for: get in, get out. The maps feel great with various engagement ranges that allow for solid loadout variety, meaning there's no single mandatory meta you're forced to run. Visually, the maps are gorgeous, with tons of lore to discover as you play. At the end of the day, it is still an extraction shooter. Every time you load into a match, it's a gamble. You either lose everything and leave depressed, or you wipe a full purple/gold team with a free kit and ride the highest high. (Personally, I find it the most rewarding when I wipe a team with better gear than mine.) That high-stakes loop is one of the biggest charms of the game. Even without a dedicated PvE mode, there are plenty of ways to secure loot—albeit low-to-mid tier, given it requires little effort. Having played in multiple closed tests, I can comfortably say the game has made great progress. The fact that the devs continually push out test modes to gauge the viability of PvE or single-team infil shows they're genuinely dedicated to making a game people enjoy, even if it strays from the initial vision. (And yes, I know what we got at launch wasn't the original idea for Marathon either.) TL;DR: Currently, at its core, it's a PvP-focused game with its fair share of issues like anything else. However, it absolutely deserves a chance. It delivers well-made maps, satisfying gunplay, great movement, and solid loot variety. The ups and downs are huge, but it has tremendous potential for anyone wanting an extraction shooter that leans arcade-y rather than mil-sim like Tarkov.
Bungie made a mistake by making this game an extraction shooter.
ehh
I just wanted to shot and loot but this is definitely "Best Bus Stop Simulator 2026". Sad that devs have no clue about it.
terrible game for one reason, all the menu crap you have to go through for collecting unlocks. make a collect all option so im not going through this terrible UI for 30 minutes
