Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 36.14/day in the week to Jul 22 → 49.38/day in the week after.
Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Absolute gesamtkunstwerk.
the game looks great and is really fun but i found it to get quite boring after a while especially playing exclusively solo

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

I hardly ever write reviews, this might be like my 3rd ever in 18+ years on Steam - 'cause this has potential but is undermined by Bungies continued reliance on squad play to experience any of the good content in their games - I'm not sure why a lesson isn't being learned here. I'm into extraction shooters, but I want a PVE version of this (I play SPT, Incursion Red River mainly for that fix), but this game would work perfectly in this format. I'm sure there's a bunch of people who are the same - you have a great art style and classic gunplay all wrapped up with sweaty PVP that most people simply just don't want, as evidenced by the ever dwindling player counts. I literally bought it because of Vaultbreaker to finally see the game itself, as it had always intrigued. It's great, I don't want to really play with or against other people though - so played 10 or so runs on Vaultbreaker solo, got totally obliterated as Bungie have, as per my opening point, only tuned the mode to 3 man squads despite allowing you to go in as a duo or, god forbid, SOLO. So I duly got destroyed in all 10 runs, swarmed by an AI hunting a 3-man squad on my lonesome, never got close to extracting... BUT I STILL had fun - which is the crux of this review. I've never seen any of the other maps, I've never extracted, only got wrecked by AI whilst lost in the bewilderingly complex single map I have access to for 2 weeks only as a PVE player, but I STILL want to play more. Just let me. There's a game here, just let everyone play it how they want to. Sweaty PVP for the hardcore that can only feel joy through taking out 'real people' and getting their loot and then PVE, tuned to group size, across all maps for those that want to pay you for your game and experience it in a way that is comfortable for them. P.S. As an aside I firmly believe this is true of almost all extraction shooters too, money is being left on the table by not having a single player AI driven PVE alt mode for all of them - see the OG extraction shooter Tarkov's Single Player Mod (SPT) 3M+ downloads for further info. P.P.S Extraction Shooters don't always need to be combined with sweaty PVP to generate the tension so synonymous with the genre.
This a great game.
Best team FPS I've played since BF2. Hard and unforgiving in its current form, but unbelievable gameplay if you like tight teamwork. The extraction stakes and low ttk naturally lead everyone to play much more carefully and tactically than you'll see in basically any fps that's not a full on mil sim. Now when you mix that with the hero shooter abilities of the shells, you get something truly unique and special. Oh, it also looks and sounds incredible.

Macht Spaß und fühlt sich frisch an. Leider ist das UI sehr kompliziert und unintuitiv, aber man gewöhnt sich dran.
Absolutely love the idea of extraction shooters but haven’t loved any that I’ve tried… until Marathon. This game sands off a lot of the rough edges you get with other games in the genre while still providing enough friction to keep you engaged. The world building is incredibly well done with a fantastic art style that feels very unique and well thought out. Text and VO codex entries that you unlock provide you with glimpses into the world and are very engaging, especially if you’re interested in the lore from the previous games in the franchise. The audio design is unparalleled. I urge you to play solo and take your time sneaking through any given map, the sounds you hear in the dark and abandoned nooks and crannies of the maps can be downright haunting and add to the sense that you WANT to figure out what happened on Tau Ceti years before you showed up. All of the runner shells (preset characters you can play as) have unique play styles that are fun in their own ways and allow you to play in a way that works best for you. I was initially turned off by what seemed to be another hero shooter, but the personalities and designs of the shells are vague/nuanced enough that they never feel forced/cringe. The gunplay/combat both PvE and PvP feels like the bungie you’ve known and loved for decades. Equal parts Halo and Destiny, some guns feel like an analogue to guns you loved to use in either of the other respective franchises in the best way. If you’re a fan of either you’ll feel right at home. I’ve primarily played the game solo and have had a blast. The little bit of crew fill that I’ve done can be hit and miss, like any PvP game with random teammates, but if you’ve got a friend or two to play with the game can be exhilarating as you’re trying to gear up, solve environmental puzzles, and so on. Hoping for a more dedicated duos mode down the line (as of July 2026 one map allows for duos at a time, rotating on a daily basis, which can lead to a very stale night as you run the same map over and over and over. Rotating the Duos map on an hourly basis seems like it should be doable and would totally alleviate this problem). More PvE content/solo support would be incredible as well. As of right now (July 2026) the end game map only supports full teams of 3, either with friends or randoms, and is INCREDIBLY meta focused. Updates have been pushed out to try and change the meta in ways that help diversify the gear you can bring in but it’s definitely a tough map that REALLY intensifies the PvP aspect of the game. The PvE mode, Vault Breaker, added during the mid point of season 2 (July 2026) has been an absolute boon and I cannot wait to see what else they have in store for PvE come season 3. Working alone or with friends to cut your run time down and accomplish as much as you can in the 30 minute time limit is insanely fun and feels so rewarding when you hit that flow state and a run starts coming together. I think this game could have a really promising future as a team based PvE rougelike that also has a fantastic PvP component. The main thing it lacks right now is multi-map support and build diversity. But it’s an experimental mode at the moment so, understandably barebones. The game can be tough, as any PvP game can be, but losing everything in a run never feels as bad as it has for me in other games like Arc Raiders or Tarkov. There’s always a free loadout you can use, or cheap gear you can purchase (not for real money). Your next big win is always just around the corner if you’re willing to take your time and play smart. I cannot recommend Marathon enough. It’s a special game that has received copious amounts of hate for the sake of hating something. There’s clearly a passion for it at Bungie, as updates are frequent, and they’re not hesitant to try out new modes (like the limited time PvE experience), to see what works and what doesn’t.
