About
MapCity is a creative map sandbox, not a traditional city management game. You draw and edit the city yourself. The current game does not simulate a city economy or population, and deep city management simulation is not part of the current development plan.
MapCity is still early in development. Expect rough edges and tools that take time to learn. Even if you play other city builders, the workflow may feel unfamiliar. If you enjoy designing places, experimenting with tools, and setting your own goals, it may be a good fit. Please choose it for the experience available today.

If you are looking for a comprehensive toolbox for creating and editing city maps, MapCity may be what you are after. It brings road drawing, building placement, neighborhood development, and map styling into one creative sandbox. You can design an invented town or reshape an existing place, with the freedom to keep changing your layout.

The base game installs in less than 100 MB. No map DLCs are needed to create, edit, and save your own maps.
For your first session, start with a blank map and a small neighborhood. You can draw a road, place buildings beside it, add a park, and save your design. Once you are comfortable with those tools, you can try generating a block with the development tools or expand into another neighborhood. Starting small is the less demanding way to learn, especially on a lower end PC.

MapCity allows you to draw roads with curves, snapping, angle controls, and grids. You can place buildings, land, water, and boundaries, then move or reshape them. Layers, themes, and draw order let you adjust how the map looks. Your work stays editable, so you can revise a street or rebuild a whole area as your design develops.

You can place buildings individually or use development tools to generate roads, parcels, and buildings across a selected area or alongside existing streets. You preview the layout, adjust the options, and add it to the map. The generated streets and buildings remain editable afterward.

Optional free map DLCs provide existing places to explore and edit. You can change their roads and buildings or reshape an area with the same tools you use on a blank map. These are large, optional downloads, not required game files. North America currently needs approximately 114 GB to download and 186 GB when installed, with additional free space needed for installation and updates. Check Steam’s current size estimate and each DLC’s requirements before downloading.
MapCity includes 3D views for exploring your creations from another perspective. They are still in development and can be enabled as an experimental feature in Settings.
A note on performance and storage
Starting with a blank map is the less demanding way to play, especially on a lower end PC. Performance will depend on how large and detailed your creation becomes.
The optional free map DLCs are much more demanding. MapCity processes and renders their extensive map data locally on your PC, so these maps require large downloads, substantial storage, and more capable hardware. Loading and navigation may be slow, or performance may be too limited for comfortable play on a lower end PC. Check each DLC’s storage requirements before downloading.

이 게임은 성능이 높지 않아도 되고 발전 가능성이 무궁무진 합니다. 아직 게임을 완전히 즐긴것 같지는 않지만 잠깐 해본 경험으로는 너무 재밋습니다
This game has good potential and one thing it needs is a height map importer for custom maps if that isn't one alr and for me the terrain editor is lagy but it may just be my pc but if this gets better in the future i will use this game in my world building projects
Having played the game for nearly an hour, I can see that this game has plenty of potential in the future, but in its current state, it's not a game I would recommend. When you start a new save in the game, you are brought to a completely blank, horizontal plane. This is great for making a completely bare, fictional map, but I think it should be made more obvious/apparent when starting a game that features from the real world need to be imported as individual (free) DLC in a completely different window. I really like two things about this game so far: the controls and the camera. The controls are incredibly simple, since you can reach everything with a standard mouse, which made me not even think of trying to find a tutorial to get started. The camera is quite fun too, offering top down (2D), free rotate isometric (3D), locked isometric (ISO, which locks you to the NW, NE, SW and SE cardinal directions) and conical (perspective) views. Now, for the most blaring issue (to my eyes). This game is Drop-down Galore. You have TONS of options available to you, but they are all contained within dropdowns and menus that are only distinguished by the tiny icon that is shown at the bottom of the screen. Not only that, but most of the tools at your disposal are hidden within the "Other tools" button. Three far smaller issues that I have with the game, which I would consider more as nitpicks in comparison, are: - It doesn't seem possible to make curved segments of rail (it might be, and I may not have found this tool due to my limited amount of time playing). - Buildings are indistinguishable from each other apart from their colour. - It should be possible to make the terrain brush's size smaller than 25 m. In fact, it should go as far low as 1 m, to allow for much better detailing. For now, the game feels like an Open Street Map editor, with a slightly realistic visual theme, a couple of bits and bobs to make it feel alive, and a 3D camera. You are given tons of options, but also a really haphazard way to go around them. For now, I give it a 4/10. But I want to be more helpful than that, and propose to you some directions where you could go next. First and foremost, REMAKE THE UI. I understand that the game is still early access, and the UI shows this. But I can assure you that the UI is driving players away. Making the icons more prominent, making more icons for more things (including within the drop-downs), making them stand out more and rearranging tools and settings by order of relevance will go a long way. I could point you to Workers and Resources' UI. The main tools that you need are first shown as general categories at the bottom of the screen, and then you can reach an individual tool by hovering over said category. This could be translated to your game, for example, as the first button being a generic "Transport" button, which, when hovered over, showed Road, Rail, Water transport... and so on with further categories, as they already appear in the "More tools" section. Then, buildings should be more distinguishable from each other. I think that, rather than colours, you should use icons for each category of building, which would appear on the rooftops of the buildings and would allow for colour variety. The addition of other minor features such as props, surface painter (to not have just grass), procedural building fronts/models and citizen POV camera could easily elevate this game to a 7/10, simplistic sandbox city/country builder.

The only criticism I have at the moment is the size of the North America map. You could just download the city map instead of the full map so it doesn't take up more than 100GB on my hard drive, but even so, great job here and this is a great city builder concept. PS: enable the workshop
delusione, non fa cambiare nome alle città, e non fa costruire porti e stazioni, io lo atteso e questo e il risultato?
I played it and it's pretty fun!! Can't wait to see it out of early access!!
