this is a cash grab, but as someone with no one to play mtg with this is amazing

The hand smoothing that goes on behind the scenes for this game is diabolical. It can make you feel like you're fighting an uphill battle. SO SO many games I am given nothing when my opponent has been given the answer to everything I do. It can make for a very horrible feeling/experience. Would not recommend, but if you insist on playing DO NOT give them your money, earn it naturally through the game.

poor new player matchmaking (or maybe deck choice?) leads it to be more frustrating than fun.
great stratagy and brain game
The ability too make your own playable decks
maybe
I get why some players leave negative reviews. MTG Arena can feel rough when you're just starting out and getting constantly matched against strong decks. But once you understand how the game works, it becomes a lot more enjoyable. The key is building a competitive meta deck relatively early. Matchmaking (especially in the ranked queue) often puts you against people using powerful rares, mythics, and current top strategies. Looking up solid decks on sites like MTGGoldfish, AetherHub, or the in-game meta page makes a huge difference. Since you earn most of your resources through winning, investing in a proven, winning deck helps you progress faster and opens up the rest of the game. You can absolutely still have fun and experiment with jank or pet decks, but mixing in some meta play will make your time on Arena feel much more rewarding. Helpful tip: If you're planning to play regularly, buying the Mastery Pass (battle pass) at least once is a solid boost — it gives great value in packs, gems, and extras to help build your collection quicker. Hang in there! The early collection phase is the toughest part, but it gets way better once you have a few competitive decks.
great game loved it for yrs now

The biggest pro in my opinion throughout playing Arena is the ability to experiment and obtain extremely rare cards that would be unobtainable for the average consumer. i.e Library of Alexandria. At the end of the day this game is still great for what it is, MTG on the fly and opportunity to face new decks, build your own or experiment with different combos that spark your interest. I find modes limited, there is only singleton format which leads to some pretty toxic or unenjoyable games when facing heavy removal or control decks. The ranking system is decent, you gain more than you lose until platinum and it's pretty easy to reach mythic with a solid deck if you are familiar with the format. It can be tough to stay in the loop with the standard meta if you aren't ready to drop a few hundred when new packs release, but there are FTP routes integrated within the game such as quick drafts and traditional drafts which you can buy in using gold you earn daily through completing challenges or getting 15 wins in a day. Definitely a bit of a longer review, but if you're considering getting into the game & you're newer to magic, I suggest researching some decks online before spending your wildcards. Create a decent deck you find cool and you'll have fun regardless of getting stomped by the meta wielding cave dwellers.
