This game is everything I want in an adventure game - I love it! I love the characters, the story, the lore, the challenging puzzles, the combat, and this is one of the most expansive "worlds" of any adventure game - giving KQ, Kyrandia, Heroine's Quest and Zak McKracken some competition. It's challenging and I reckon I will be replaying this game at least 3 more times to give all 4 elements a try. I recommend this game to all lovers of the point n click graphical adventure, it won't disappoint. Save early, save often, and long live the mages!
Aventura grafica estilo Quest For Glory bastante entretenida. A pesar de no estar traducida al castellano se entiende perfectamente y se puede completar sin muchos problemas. Ojalá una segunda parte.

It is a good retro style Adventure RPG. Any fans of the classics should like this.
Loving oldies like Larry laffer? or Hero's Quest, Quest for Glory and King's Quest? Oldies from Sierra from the last century? Play this!!! Awesome feeling of those games but still put into an new jacket
A spiritual successor to the Sierra adventure games of old, with particular inspiration seemingly drawn from the first Quest For Glory game. You play a young apprentice mage who has to complete three tasks to secure his initiation, while at the same time being drawn into a shadowy conspiracy. Choose one of four elements to master, which will determine your combat abilities and solutions to various puzzles. It's a fun little adventure game with a short narrative and a small but charming setting. Worth a play for adventure game fans, especially fans of the old Sierra titles.
Mages Initiation is a point-and-click adventure game. with a good smattering of RPG elements, and in the vein of classic point-and-click adventure games such as the King's Quest series. There's a lot to like here. There's a good balance between puzzling, exploring, talking and all the game's elements in general. There's also a great balance between it being a grounded and serious adventure whilst incorporating some slightly wacky, humorous moments too. And the presentation is spot on too, with some absolutely fantastic backdrops. In fact, I'd go as far to say that... after about three hours playing... I thought this was gonna be a pretty perfect adventure game. But then... it just got really boring. None of the puzzles felt particularly satisfying or inventive. There was just a lot of mundane stuff to do, and the majority of it was straight forward. Get an apple from a tree, build a raft with vine and planks, kill some goblins etc. - It's such basic level 1 stuff that it really put a crimp In my enjoyment of the game. But I picked this game up really cheap and I would say that if this style of game this still may be something you enjoy. So I'm still gonna recommend it, because I think more people are gonna like it than not like it IMO, Simply because it offers the core Elements of the genre done to a good standard. It's just for me personally, I've seen it all before and I've done it in far more interesting ways. So, be warned, some veterans of the genre might feel the same too.
If you were a fan of old Sierra adventure games then this is a modern love letter to them. The characters and their voices and the overall tone is pretty corny to begin with but eventually grows on you. The game is centred around the 4 elements, of which you are bestowed with one (not of your choosing) at the beginning. Aside from the usual trope-y puzzles and their solutions, you can also use various element-specific spells for some puzzles, such as nourishing plants as an Earth mage. At 9 hours it doesn't overstay its welcome, and while it's nothing incredible it's a good game for fans of the genre.
Of all the modern point and click games I've played, this has to be one of the best, and probably one of the most enjoyable P&C games I've played in a long time. I can't really fault the story, it's nothing groundbreaking, but the designers paint an interesting world that made me want to find out more. The game mechanics are a nice improvement and something that this type of adventure game really needed, instead of following the exact same mechanics from over 30 years ago. If you're into fantasy, adventure games, or even something a little different from the usual type of game, then give this a try. Even though it seems as though there are no sequels to this, the full price is still worth it
I'd give this game something like 2 1/2 stars out of 5 or a 60/65 of 100 score, so thumbs up but not a super enthusiastic thumbs up. It starts badly, and after first playing it for 10 minutes or so, I quit and almost never came back to it. The main character's voice acting is terrible, and he's the first thing you hear right from the opening narration. It's weird, because all the other voice acting is good or at least competent, with the main character the only really bad standout -- but of course he has by far the most lines. After listening to the badly acted opening narration, almost immediately you are forced to choose a sort of class of fire, water, earth, or air magic with zero context or information on which to base your decision, which was also really off putting. The game does play out somewhat differently depending on which you choose, but it didn't end up being all that much difference to be worth worrying about which you choose. I'm glad I did eventually a month or so later come back and push through the rough opening impression. Once you get going, the game's pretty good but not without problems. Major sections of the game are the equivalent of mazes with dozens of locations that you end up having to wander thru pretty much randomly to find the right area to advance the story, while fighting repeated random enemy encounters. And the combat is not great. Once you get the hang of it (which was also tough at first, and added to the bad early impression the game makes) it's not hard, just kind of tedious and pointless really, and you end up having to fight way too many random trash mobs while wandering aimlessly through the maze-like areas. It's too bad those annoying mazes with their repeated tedious combat are such a big part of the game, because the story and puzzles they get in the way of are a lot better. If the developer had just dropped those roadblocks and settled for a shorter but more focused P&C adventure game, this would have been more enjoyable than it ended up being. Still, the good outweighs the bad in my view.
