About
From the creator of Lost in Vivo and Spooky’s Jump Scare Mansion, Lunacid is a horror ARPG from a bygone era. Immerse yourself in a dark, desperate world full of foes, lost souls, and hidden secrets.
Long ago, the Great Beast arose from the sea and covered the earth in poison fog. Choking out the land of both life and light, a new era of wonderous misery began.
Centuries have passed. The once hallowed halls and bustling streets are mere shadows. Those deemed undesirable are thrown into the Great Well, a pit of chaos and disease. Cast into its depths for crimes unknown, you awaken in this moonlit subterranean world. Your only hope lies with the sleeping Old One deep below. But many perils lie between you and your ultimate goal.
From the mind of horror master Akuma Kira, Lunacid harkens to a lost era of first-person ARPGs. Legendary for their meticulous design and dense dungeons, the King’s Field series was the Dark Souls before there was a Dark Souls. Long abandoned by AA/AAA developers, the mantle of “King’s-Like” is left to the humble indie. Which is great, because that's where all the cool weird stuff comes from anyways.
The world of Lunacid is bursting at the seams with new things to discover, from hidden magics to secret areas. This isn’t just the odd room with a chest in it; entire new areas await those with a watchful eye. Esoteric puzzles and cryptic hints galore are sure to confound and delight even the experienced dungeon delver.
Take yourself back to a time before dodge rolling. Swipe, backstep, block, and overcome foes with patience and persistence. Featuring a robust body targeting system and unique elemental weaknesses/resistances, each encounter becomes a skilful yet deadly dance of death. Begin your journey as a thief, knight, cleric, or… vampire? Building your character up to you.
Over 75 weapons await you in the fetid halls of Lunacid. 37 Unique spells, each with applications beyond the obvious. Finding them all, however, is another matter. Unless you use a guide. Which hey, we won’t judge.┐( ̄ヮ ̄)┌
Don’t forget to save.
Featuring dozens of hours of gameplay and multiple endings, Lunacid is a rich and rewarding take on a classic formula. Relics of past game design long abandoned lie in wait. So jump in the Great Well and let the wonders of Lunacid surprise you. Mimics might just steal your silver instead of eat you.

I really liked Verho - the curse of faces and I really liked this game. It's really good.
Such a great dungeon crawler with some of the coolest visuals. Exploration is fun but can be frustrating if you're not willing to get lost. Excited for the DLC's release.
Lunacid is not a perfect game (none really are), but it drips with personality. The environments are stellar and the ambience is on point. The music has a lot of variety, and some of the pieces are actually amazing. The final boss theme is so so good. If you can get past the jank, it's a solid game worth the time.

It has the sauce. So far it's a very relaxing dungeon crawler. It's great on the steam deck. Groovy music too.

After only ~3 hours of playing this game, I'm happy to say that I'm HOOKED! (ALSO: take this review with a grain of salt) I have made pretty good progress, but most of all, I have learned to chill out, look around, and take in the environment, and this game rewards the player for that. MUSIC: The soundtracks in this game, composed by "Akuma Kira" (or Matt "Kira" Montana) are perfect and matches the maddening, and sometimes claustrophobic feelings I get in this game. NPCS: All of the enemies (and friendly npcs) i have encountered so far, have seemed well crafted, with unique sounds, attacks, themes, animations, attack-styles, and overall difficulty. OVERALL CONTENT: It feels like this game has no "filler" content, but that every area in the game, encourages exploration, and invites the player to look for hidden items, or loot. The video FX settings are amazing, and allow the game to fit various graphics styles within the genre! Last but not least; LOOT, ITEMSYSTEM, LEVELING, STATS: I was scared that this game was gonna introduce me to 44 player stats that i need to be familiar with, and 18 different damage types, but no; - Lunacid keeps it simple with the perfect amount of stats. The items are fairly easy to understand, and compared to ELDEN RING, this game is a lot more enjoyable, and easier to digest in terms of items, alchemy, and magic. And this overall (in my opinion) makes the game a lot more enjoyable, and makes me feel less like i need to grind, and min-max all the time. FINAL REMARKS: I am a big fan of dark fantasy, and this game gives me exactly what I have been wanting for sooo long. I have been interested in Kings field, Shadow Tower, and Shadow Tower Abyss, and this feels like exactly that, but without all of the over-complicated stat-, or item-systems, and controls, which a lot of games in the genre has. As an audio-designer, game developer, and soundtrack-producer, I am in love with this game, and feel more inspired than I have in a long time. also... ITS LESS THAN 2 GB IN SIZE!!!! What a piece of art! Thank you for this game! - I will cherish it, and enjoy it for years to come! Sincerely, TobyNT
Kinda similar to Splatoon 2, but instead of being a game about turf, or paint, or fashion, It places more emphasis on being one of the best games I've ever played
This is rough for me because i really wanted to like it and it did have good moments but overall i didn't like it THE GOOD The atmosphere is immaculate. The music and areas are very good at making a world you want to be immersed into. And they use this atmosphere for some very cool and intense moments. I love the art direction for the areas and art style is so good I genuinely love it. The enemy design is very cool I really love the way some enemy's look and feel in the areas they reside in. In fact this game has my favorite (hidden for slight spoilers for an enemy that's better left a surprise)
mimic
design from anything ever. THE BAD AREAS On one hand it feels like some areas are designed really well with distinct levels and zones that feel fun to explore and understand. But the areas that left the most impact on me were areas that are just too big for their own good. Lots of rooms with mostly nothing in them i guess its trying to give the idea that these are old and abandoned places but it just feels so sluggish to go through these areas (even with levels into speed and i put a LOT into speed). The other areas that make the game feel very frustrating are the areas that are so dark and intentionally hard to navigate that you just cant tell where the ♥♥♥♥ you are and end up lost for a long ass time. These areas start off with a good creepy atmosphere but end up just losing it because of the amount of time i spend lost in the dark. These big ass areas and dark labyrinth like areas wouldn't be so bad if i had a map or some way to mark where i have been with chalk or something but the lack or resources in that department make it very unfun to explore very good looking areas. COMBAT The combat is super bad feeling. Enemies feel sooooo tanky it takes so long to kill things because each enemy has different weaknesses and resistances. You need to cast a spell to learn the correct damage type to kill it quickly witch seems fine. The issue becomes that you cannot hold more than two melee weapons and two spells at once (if there is an upgrade to change this i never found it). Okay so you might think I just pause and switch weapons/spells not that bad right? Welp the game still runs when you are in the menu so if you switch near an enemy its just going to wail on you. Overall it just ends up feeling like an ordeal to kill anything beyond a trash tier mob. The game would feel much nicer if everything had like half hp. The good part of the combat is being able to target enemy limbs and destroy them to stop specific enemy attacks that is very neat. STORY !! If you continue you will learn about the final boss and quest leading up to it be warned !! The final nail for me was when i got to what i thought to be a normal boss that had little build up outside of a npc quest. Granted the quest was cool following the knight through the world and helping him make his way to a battle he wanted to do was very fun. The issue is that i didn't know this was the final boss. It didn't feel like a final boss for the first 3/4ths of the fight (mind you it was really boring also just run around the giant ass arena and take pot shots at the guy with magic because all my swords felt like hitting him with a flaccid pool noodle). Then suddenly the main three npc characters and some knight guy i had literally never seen in my life showed up out of nowhere and did some big attack in a cutscene. After witch the boss entered another phase with no hp bar and I was given this (very cool tbh) sword that made me nigh invincible and you just kill these weird things it summons and eventually win. Then they start talking about awakening the thing from the opening cutscene (I forgot what it is called sorry) and you go outside and wake it and you get a really unsatisfying cutscene that says this isn't the end. So im like this must be the bad ending right this felt so rushed and random I didn't even know this was where the final boss would take place. I decide to take a break and i see that the achievement called it the true ending. I don't know where any of that came from. The only npc who was really buddy buddy with me was Demi. Demi was in several important areas and had lots to say she seemed close to where important stuff is so i understood that. Why did the rest of the cast i barely saw or talked too come from. Its like it came from an alternate game where i spent a long quest with my friends and the ultimate battle was won with friendship. But i didn't see anyone other than demi and sheryl outside of the hub area and sheryl was mostly just a shop and wasn't like some important figure I saw often. As for the knight fellow that was the first time i saw him.
