If you are thinking of buying this game. Personally. I bought this on sale a couple of weeks ago the first day I had a few problems getting into the server ( Fyi I am in the UK ). But since then I haven't had any more issues getting in. I play most days at various times during the day, ie morning, afternoon and evening. I am not in the discord so can't comment re that but steam has just literally done a patch, though as yet it's not showing up in the patch notes on the steam page not sure why that is but maybe it will show up later. I am enjoying the game and love the idea of your base island being Pve only but with the option of going to one of the other 2 islands to complete missions and there being possibly some Pvp I say possibly because sometimes I meet someone sometimes I don't though if you hear a firefight and the ai shouting you know players must be around. Playing solo on the your starting island where you can build bases is Pve as in there are animals that you can hunt and some will attack you and there are Npc s that will attack you. You can also from what I understand invite friends to play co op on this island. If you die here you can respawn and go back to your body to get your gear. But when you go to one of the other 2 islands this is where you can complete missions, collect certain resources and this is where you may encounter other real players. Which I definately have because a couple of times when they have killed me it tells you their player name also if you kill a real player when you search them you can see their name. But if an Npc kills you don't get a name come up. Regarding losing your gear yes when you go to either of the PvP islands you are warned that only take stuff you are prepared to lose if you die there. Regarding match making when going to the PvP island you can choose whether to have strict matchmaking on or not. If you are going in solo and tick the strict matchmaking you will only meet other solo players but if you untick it you could meet a team of players which I think can be up to 5 in a team. I find it fun and in the last couple of weeks I have played for approx 36 hours now. I hope this helps and maybe if you do give it a go we might bump into each other.
