★★★½☆ Worth playing for the story. Good writing, equally funny and sad. Alot of enemies felt like they had too much health, just complete sponges that you can make not fight back at all with moves and sometimes they'll not do much damage in the first place making it just pressing buttons until the fights over. Wish the game had more creativity with what moves are effective and which are not, stumbled into way more resistances than i did weaknesses in my playthrough. Great soundtrack.
[ESP/ENG] [ESP]
Lisa -The Painful-

[ENG]
A Story About Pain
Lisa -The Painful- is the second title from the Lisa saga. Being Lisa -The First- the prequel, The Painful takes a completely different perspective in terms of storytelling and mechanics. You are Bradley, a 35 years-old man who tries to survive in the post-apocalyptic area of Olathe, where chaos reigns supreme after a catastrophic event from years ago, while he looks for his adoptive daughter, Buddy, who has disappeared. -This isn’t your typical JRPG adventure: with all women dead, Buddy faces severe danger. And you’ll see that -The Painful- takes after its predecessor: harsh issues such as drugs (alcohol and some mysterious blue pills called Joy), sexual abuse and dubious morality are your bread and butter here. And the title is really fitting, as you’ll face difficult problems, events or fights: do you want to lose all your money (now, in the form of pornographic magazines) or would you prefer to get one of your friends killed? Do you want to sell your dynamite to some suspicious-looking men? -Because of these decisions, you’ll have a great roster of friends to hire. Some of them will join you if you pay them; whereas others will forcibly join you because you blackmail them. This isn’t a pretty adventure: it’s harsh, it’s painful, and you must do whatever it takes to press on. In fact, some enemies will be able to kill your party members for good, so you’ll need to learn how to avoid this…or learn what other characters will do. Writing a review for this game is really difficult: there’re too many things and features to highlight, but the story, its soundtrack and its cruelty (alongside its black humour) makes this title one of the greatest RPG Maker video games I’ve ever played. I definitely recommend Lisa -The Painful- to all of you who wish to know a story full of hindrances, failures, tragedies and, above all, a story that will leave a lasting print in your memory forever.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.13/day in the week to Aug 3 → 2.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A story about a broken man with his band of goofy buddies looking for his adopted daughter in a post-apocalyptic world full of perverted, ill intentioned, hopeless and hilarious men. The background to this story needs to be dug up and is truly horrifying, and very worth the grind to find. The soundtrack is a weird warped trip to listen to, very fitting to the world you explore. Loved every second of it. Great sequel to the first. Felt that the joyful did a good job on wrapping up the story, though was quite a bit easier in terms of gameplay than the hopeful.
A tedious and unenjoyable game whose plot is extremely slow to develop
Very odd game. Too much gratuitous violence and edgy just to be edgy. Plus no real consistency from battle to battle. In game time upon beating it was 9 hours, 9 minutes.
