Reviews
I'm really surprised how many bugs are still in the game after full release and season 4 out now. It makes the game not fun to play.
i can not, will not and will never recommend this game after the krafton aquisition. the best thing you can do to put me off of a game is to have its parent company claim to be "AI first" i feel genuinely bad for the devs that work on this that is trying to legitimately make this a better game but it seems bugs just keep getting worse. last epoch was a really cool project that i was sure going to come to fruition and maybe be put on the pedestal of greats alongside games like grim dawn and path of exile. now development seems to have shifted to monetize itself more than be and actual game.

sold their souls to krafton
Great game. it will be good if the developers add some interesting endgame content not only monolith of faith.
I've tried to get into this game twice and it's just not for me. My biggest points of contention: gender locked classes in 2026 (GGG is just as bad in this regard) and the graphics are just hideous. Like Grim Dawn arguably looks better/ has more style and that game is a decade old. 2nd time I've tried it since launch and I'm willing to give it a 3rd one day if things improve!
Absolutely terrible performance. Play something else where the devs actually respect optimizing their product.
If you're reading this review it's because you were looking for someone to say the quiet part out loud in the sea of angsty reviews upset at things that haven’t happened yet. The development of Last Epoch has been shaped and strained by the attention it attracted. Most recently, review bombing followed the Krafton acquisition. Many of the loudest voices weren’t around during Early Access. Here’s a timeline for context. [2018] Eleventh Hour Games is founded from a Reddit thread. Kickstarter raises ~$250K to fund development. [2019] Early Access begins. Core systems skills, crafting, identity are introduced. The foundation that still defines the game today is established. [2020–2021] Masteries, skill trees, and Monolith of Fate arrive. The game gains identity and traction. Player demand for multiplayer grows. Steam peak: ~2.7k (2020) to ~5.9k (2021) [2022] Multiplayer testing begins and struggles. Development slows as the team shifts focus. Steam peak drops to ~3.4k. [2023] Multiplayer launches in EA but remains unstable under load. Trade becomes a major issue initially, there were no plans for an economy. Backlash leads to the faction system (Merchant’s Guild vs Circle of Fortune), announced Sept 2023 with a Feb 2024 deadline no EA testing. Steam peak jumps to ~40k. [2024] ARPG players, frustrated with other titles, flood into LE expecting it to fill the gap adding pressure to deliver both polish and trade systems. Launch (1.0) Peak: ~264k players. Servers struggle at launch but stabilize. Core issue emerges: endgame depth is limited, with Monolith still carrying most of the load. Cycle 2 (July 2024) Adds more endgame, but many still find it lacking. Other ARPGs begin recovering, pulling players back. [2025] Krafton acquires the studio. The active playerbase shrinks as hype fades. Despite ~2M+ copies sold, many players didn’t stick around. The acquisition triggered backlash and review bombing, with fears of monetization changes before anything actually happened. LE had a massive hyptrain trying to carry the dreams, and hopes of multiple ARPGs who now have gotten their act together. Those same people are upset they jumped on the hypetrain without knowing what they were getting into. As an early supporter I like LE for what it is and hope Kraftons resources will give them the ability to make the game bigger, and better. Otherwise it was just dead on arrival.
