Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Aug 18 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

There are good ideas in here, even if the start is rough and the execution hates you a bit. Kona is a walking simulator with extra steps. Those extra steps are trying not to freeze. Also managing inventory weight. Also combat sometimes kinda. It's relatively open ended once you get out of the prologue, but the prologue's rails are bolted on and the game tries to intuitively direct you to do stuff. Which is to say, it often fails. It does look good, though. The vibes are strong. The rural Canada concept shines through. There's occult horror happening, and you have to poke through a bunch of people's homes about it, and that's always a good formula. Shame about the controls being kinda intentionally busted. Doors interact weirdly, where you have to mash your face into them to select them and then back way off to let them open. Interactive items are NOT intuitive, whatever the game thinks, and the only way you can tell something is an interaction point is to mash your face on it. And even then, sometimes you have to wiggle wiggle wiggle to get the game to let you select something you can see. Sprinting is also bad. You have a stamina meter and a cooldown, presumably, but you're not shown these things in any way. So sometimes your sprint works, and sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes it works until it doesn't. All of these things mean that if you heard wintery survival horror and said hell yeah, then hell no. You're gonna have a bad time here. But if you have the patience for walking simulators and like older games, and you especially like older point and click adventure logic where you're supposed to poke thoroughly around every environment in the right order in order to progress, and you don't mind LONG walks between points of interest because there's only so many places you can get your truck to go, this is an okay pickup. It'll hit better with the indie games as art crowd, but I think it's an interesting game regardless. Edit: So, encouraging you to explore the world your way and then invisiwalling it all to hell seems like conflicting priorities. Also, I've hit some minor bugs (items in the wheel showing up with other items' names until I interact with them) and some baffling intentional decisions (your truck teleports around when you load a save.) None of these break the atmosphere completely, but it's harder to get immersed thinking "someone stole my truck? This is an intentional storytelling element?" when no in fact the truck just teleports for no reason.

Kona is an “open world” investigation survival game/“Carl” simulator developed by Canadian studio Parabole, a studio which was founded by Alexandre Fiset, who used to work at Activision’s Beenox Studio working on Spider-Man games. However he ended up founding Parabole based on the lack of Quebec representation in video games. The original vision for Kona was to create four 1-2 hour episodes with two playable characters, one being Carl (who you play as in this game) and another character named Tereza who doesn’t seem to be anywhere. However limitations involving Steam’s two-hour refund policy, the lack of popularity with publishers, time and money would lead to a lot of features originally intended for the game to be changed (such as the addition of the “Ice Wall”). Some other features that would be drastically backed up include “more wildlife, more combat, more horror moments in the game and also more time spent driving the snowmobile” according to another Reddit AMA. Parabole would also go out of their way to release a Kickstarter page, where it would make 44,000 Canadian Dollars out of the 40,000 Canadian Dollars goal, though this was a bit of a rough estimate as 26,000 was the minimum that the entire development team would take along with some add-on costs and according to a Gamasutra article on the team’s finances, Fiset would be quoted as saying that the 40Gs of Canadian Dollars “would have only been about a five-minute game”. However, through a lot of haggling with banks, extra work and funding through the “Canada Media Fund” (which covered about half of the development costs at the offset of taking around half the revenue), they were able to create the final game that they had wanted and teased throughout the Kickstarter, though with a slightly different scope in mind. For most of review: https://backloggd.com/u/gamemast15r/review/4958713/ How could the gameplay be described for Kona? It can be described in two ways: the exploration/investigation and the survival mechanics. The exploration is rather simple: you’re able to walk around this giant lake named Lake Atamipek and the homes surrounding it in the middle of a snowstorm. Exploring the various homes and buildings are imperative to learning about what happened through picking up all of the documents in order for Carl Foubert to fill up his journal, alongside taking photographs of the various different sights (such as mysterious Ice, frozen bodies, fire arrows and more). The region is pretty big for the most part and so there will be A LOT of ground to cover, enough so that you’ll probably need to drive a vehicle like the truck or the snowmobile if you’re able to fix that one up, which is useful for when you have a lot of things in your inventory and you can’t pick anything else up. You’ll also find numerous campfires throughout the region and if you’re able to throw down some wood and light it on fire then you’ll have a permanent checkpoint you can run to for your time in the game. Alongside picking up scraps of evidence, you’ll have the ability to witness previous events through various visions which will help expand the story for Carl. How about the survival aspects? Remember when I said that vehicles can be used for storage? There’s a lot of items to pick up from guns, ammunition, painkillers, cigarettes, matches and god knows what else alongside keys which will help you start fires, get into cabins, boost some of your stats or give you the proper tools to defend yourself against wolves (or distract them by throwing down raw steak). So how do I feel about the gameplay? For the most part I felt that it was fine stuff, relaxing and enjoyable though there were a few things that irritated me about the game. Number 1 is the whole stats, like your Heat (which is understandable) and your stress which I’ll be honest I was only ever really able to keep consistently under halfway because SO MANY THINGS stress Carl the hell out. This stress lowers the amount of time you can run and leads to shakier aim, and while I didn’t really fire a gun until the finale, it was still pretty annoying to deal with all of that. Another issue I don’t like: backtracking, specifically in the event that you forget an important key item. There’s at least two examples where I missed out on finding a key (more specifically in the maintenance shed between Cabin A and B where there’s a key to a cabin up north), which after chugging my way through the game to the cabin up north, made me have to run all the way down to this one shed where the key had blended in with the background. What this means is either have a really good guide or be thorough as hell. How about combat? For the most part it’s fine, but don’t expect opening up the inventory to be a pause no matter how slow it looks because I had to do something real quickly after being spotted by a
“Spirit Wolf”
and came back to being murdered. Beyond that I don’t really have too much to say except I don’t feel like the inventory space adds much of anything for me personally and makes the survival aspects a bit more annoying, but I can also understand that realistically no one is able to carry around fifty guns alongside 20 blocks of chopped wood. The last complaint I have is that I wish I could read the map while on the snowmobile like in Far Cry 5 but I also wasn’t super bothered by it either. What I can compliment on is how enticing it is in line with the plot to make me actually want to go out and explore every nook and cranny I can find, even if there’s a lot of vast nothingness. While that seems like only one real compliment, it’s actually a super effective game in that regard and made the survival mode feel a bit better through sheer dopamine rush after finding warmth inside of an abandoned home. Perhaps for those who want to explore a “walking simulator” but also have a little more agency in that regard, Kona might be for you with the extra added survival mechanics. Jogo muito bom por 3 reais gostei recomendo .
Alone in the cold snow. Not a single living soul around. What the hell happened here? Find out :) Strange and a little different game.
This is a rather strange video game. Kona has a lot going for it. The thing that I was reminded of most throughout my time with it was, bizarrely, those old Deja Vu point-and-click adventure games that you could find on the Mac or on the NES. It lets you wander around the whole map almost from the very start, and it is really up to you to do the detective work and figure out what is going on, and where you are supposed to go next. The map is quite good at showing where you are and which direction you are facing, so it is not like the game is completely uninterested in helping you navigate around, but it certainly does not hold your hand. Do not expect any objective markers or yellow paint with this one. The visuals, sound, and voiceover are all fantastic and you really get a feel for this Northern Quebec area of the world. You will not meet too many NPCs, but the culture and vibe of this community feels authentic and faithful even with just the narration and the environmental storytelling. My main criticism of Kona is that it tries to do perhaps too much. There are survival elements; you have a meter for your health, stress, and temperature. I have beaten this game and I cannot tell you for sure whether or not they actually do anything. I did die once when I was mauled by wolves, but I am not sure if the stress or temperature meters actually do anything aside from affecting how far you can run before you need to walk again. Having to babysit these meters to avoid an inconvenience rather than for any more meaningful goal is not great. I almost wonder if the game should have just left out this whole survival system, or maybe they should have committed and really made it harder to survive. Given the choice, I would remove the survival mechanics altogether. The detective / adventure aspects to the game are strong enough. Unfortunately, Kona also does something that far too many walking simulators tend to do; it has a combat system. There are guns and melee weapons. Combat is far from the focus of the game, but there are parts where it is all but unavoidable. As is often the case where combat is shoehorned into a narrative adventure game that does not need it, it is one of the weakest parts of the experience. It is puzzling, because the rest of the game is so strong. Why not have the confidence to stand by what you do well instead of trying to be something that you are not? My last criticism is that there is just a lot of extra stuff in this game. Maybe that is a good thing to some people. I definitely did not visit every cave and cabin in this game by the time that I finished it. Would I have liked to? Yeah, of course. But there are wolves and stuff out there. I got eaten alive the first time that I just wandered off to follow some footprints, so it is not like the game rewards you for exploration. When you end up in a place that does not include the next story beat or clue, you just have to go somewhere else. Ultimately, Kona is an incredibly interesting little piece of detective fiction with a lot of charm. For my tastes, though, I would have liked it a lot more if it was a little more guided and if it did not contain some of the weaker and less interesting elements like survival systems and combat. I finished in just under 4 hours with a guide, but I think you could spend a lot more time than that wandering around if you would rather get the full, raw and unguided experience.
