I don't want to give a negative review, but there are no "medium" choice on steam. It will get 6/10 without any DLCs. The private king DLC is awesome, but too awesome to let me realize why I buy this game. It just feels like....I buy this main game for play Private King DLC. The design of some level is ridiculous, especially the winter part. I'm sorry, but this is the first time I went sleepy when playing Kingdom Rush. The balance is terrible, but it also brings your op towers and heroes. I'm curious about who designed hero Eiskalt and tower volcano. If you want to have a easy start of KR series, it is a good choice.

I write this review after 100%ing the game. When it first came out I was extremely hyped. I loved the idea of having more towers to choose from, but actually being limited to 5 variants per level instead of the typical 8. Also the twist of now being on the bad guys' side seemed really interesting. That's why I'm sad to say this game turned out to be my least favourite KR game. It's still pretty good, but in comparison to the other games, comes off a bit underwhelming. First of all: the lack of balance and difficulty curve are disappointing. Some of the towers are extremely over powered and once you unlock and use them, the game bores to tears. Suddenly no level seems challenging and placing your OP towers in random order, without much thinking, always works. The game also has a weird quirk, where it's way harder at the beginning and becomes very easy towards the end, which I didn't like that much. The game also includes the Impossible mode which, just like in KR3 is barely any harder than Veteran and does not unlock until you beat the campaign at least once. The achievements are mostly reasonable. Some of them are a bit grindy, but except for 1, they are way less grindy than the ones in KR3. Still, this game was the least fun to 100%, because of the overall boredom that keeps following you throughout the game. Final rating: 6/10
