Reviews
Don't buy it, good idea badly executed. Very few content, very basic if not simplistic strategy, dungeons not worth playing.

after 30 h getting bored ,turn after turn always same
Its simple nice and original game. Not much dunamical and not much war focused, We will meet some stability problems when conquering too many provinces, so capture entire map is usually hard. But there are some special maps in menu (great option!) In workshop we can found few additional maps (Song of Ice and Fire is very interesting for me). Game has potential and is regularly updated by creator. Rules and options can be more flexible, but it will be probably done in future. Game has stil some bugs which are long time not repaired by unknown reasons, but hope it will be done in future.
KDH is quite a lot of fun. Simple enough mechanics but with surprising depth (it does pay to read a bit of the manual though as you encounter things you don't understand). Admittedly I struggled to get into Kraken's Warplan games but I'm a junky for fantasy strategy, so this has got me hooked. 9/10. Would be a 10/10 if KDH gave you the option to create a custom faction when starting a Warlord scenario, with the ability to choose your banner, race and specialty bonuses or specific units for instance. I hopped into the editor briefly but it's just way over my head and not very user friendly. But an in-game faction creator interface for the Warlord game mode would make this one of the best fantasy strategy/wargame titles out there IMO.
Operational wargaming for fantasy nerds.
I just finished my first playthrough as Italy on the Mediteranean realistic map, 180 turn. Settings were on normal, I gave the computer some slight adventure bonus. I experienced the following behaviour: - the AI was - sometimes for half of the game length!!! - not able to conquer the same (AI)city although trying constantly and every turn. I think the AI is totally unable to surround a city and starve it. I saw that happen very often. - after conquering Venice and Croatia and building up the infrastructure of all cities there was never any problem with any sort of ressource, I couldn´t solve. After around turn 50 I had such an abundance of everything, that I really didn´t have to care at all. Not nice. - My stability was around 50 for the first maybe 40 or so turns. Then it suddenly rose to around 80, later 90, without ever going down significantly. So, that was also something I never had to worry about. Not nice. - Achievements should pop up in the main screen with a note, when reached. That would make people more aware of those. - I won with a good measure of points ahead, but the next couple of countries in the victory list were some very small and very weak states, that I never (!) saw do anything else than just hang around. I appreciate the fact, that conquest is not all in the game or has to happen slowly and cautiously and all that, but seeing countries go down the list, that were at least a little active and conquered some territory and having some very minor states rise to the top is just gamebreaking nonsense to me. - the fact that militia isn´t moving means you also can not move through them, which leads to the fact, that I didn´t use them at all, since I didn´t want to create roadblocks by using them. - my personal "doomstack" was a pure cavalry stack (3 heavy, 3 light), all specialized. They cut through nearly everywhere with ease. They were much more efficient in attacking cities that a mix of sieges and men-of-iron for example, which is a bit ridiculous and immersion breaking. Hordes of horseman storming the walls.. really??? - I know that in any 4X game Ai is a problem and all that. But I reallly haven´t had any challenge at all by my artificial opponents or see them do something meaningfull, putting up a defense line or anything or surprise me or... and that is not so nice for a very first playthrough, also I admit, that I dare say, I am quite an experienced wargamer. Still... - the adventure part became obsolete after turn 100 or so, when I suddenly got a lvl 8 healer type hero out of the blue. After that I won every medium cave with ease and a 3% chance of dying if I put them on automatic. So that ended that part of the fun. - I really enjoy the graphics and setting and most of the concepts and all that. So I do not want to smash the game here, but I feel there is a lot more needed for me to have me have another go. Which is sad.
This game is ok, but it has too many bugs for it to be playable. I recruited heroes and they were unable to be moved. I recruited new combat units and they never showed on the map. I like the concept but the execution needs more work. I do not recommend you spend money on this title at this time.
