Kill the Reaper

For a $5 game, it's actually pretty high quality and offers a lot of polish. It isn't going to provide any kind of narrative or anything remotely memorable. It won't even make sense for that matter, but the player character and enemy characters are animated well and look great. The cloth physics on the player character go a long way to help sell the character. I would say the biggest gripe I have with it is how often it flashes the screen with white. That kind of thing is just obnoxious and takes me out the gameplay for no good reason. I'm not a big fan of the floating hands thing, either, after a decade of it from VR. However, it works well here. I can accept that the Reaper doesn't have arms. The cape and hood are animated well enough that the floating weapons don't really bother me from a cheapness point of view. The upgrade system is pretty grindy but gives you an excuse to replay the same level over and over. Did I mention it has only one level? Yeah, it's a beach scene. You never get to see the Reaper in anything remotely like a cemetery. It's odd, but whatever, the game's simple, you expect this lack of forethought. It's a very well built throwaway game.
