About
KilaFlow is a challenging fast paced precision 3D platformer where you play as a cute and mischievous Antivirus trying to fix the mistakes of it's creator and save all data from a mysterious virus!
In KilaFlow, you play as a digital simulation of a Toy Robot named "Kila", the mascot of the "KilaFlow" Antivirus. It's creator, Connor D. Rive, has made Kila in hopes that it can cure and fend off any and all viruses that plague their life. Kila must find the nine keys of each program to gain access to the source of the virus and bring it back to the side of cute and friendly, by any means Kila (or YOU) feels like!
Walk, Run, Jump, Bounce, Spin, Charge, or FLOW your way to the end and save as much data it takes along the way! You may be an Antivirus, but when was the last time one of those ever REALLY fixed the problem, huh? Save all the corrupted data, or don't! Beat the best time, or take as much time as you need! As long as you reach the Golden Brackets, collect the key, and beat the virus, it doesn't matter how much you help as long as you're having fun!
With 9 stylish worlds, each having 9 short but challenging levels and a boss, KilaFlow will present you with new challenge after challenge, obstacle after obstacle, huggable data critters after huggable data critters! Whether you're a speedrunner, completionist, or just here for casual platforming fun, there are many ways to play and enjoy this series of digital obstacle courses! Beat the best times of levels to get better keys and unlock secrets, save or ignore every data to receive awards or face stronger foes, and you can do it all without taking a tick of damage! The real challenge starts when you chose to perfect your runs and do every challenge the game has to offer. Though, if that's not your thing, just getting to the end is fine too! Play as much or as little as you choose!
From an virtual pet on an oldschool computer browser to a sketchy dating app with some questionable characters, Kila cleans it all! Chill out to the beats from a friendly dolphin in a Vaporwave Cove, or run across train cars in a Dinosaur ridden offline Desert. Be careful what you click when journeying through literal Ad Space, and don't trust every wise Gorilla offering to send emails for you in the big city. Who knows what Antivirus Adventures you might find yourself in!
KilaFlow is a small, simple, and fun little platformer I began developing to keep my spirits up, and I'd like to share that fun with you all as well! It has since succeeded it's Kickstarter with the support of it's community, and I intend to keep developing it with the players needs first! Thank you very much!

I can't say enough good things about this game. If you yearn for the GameCube era of 3D platforming greatness, then look no further. Dripping with style, and some really fun and tight controls, this is well worth the price of admission. Cannot emphasize enough how fun it is to play. Lots of replayability as well with unlockable skins and challenges to master for every level. If you have ever once enjoyed a 3D platformer and have a functional cerebral cortex, then you're doing yourself a disservice by not picking this up. Great fun, and the dev is still contributing to the game even after release to add new options and QoL features. Quit reading and buy it already!
i like Kila a normal amount

This game makes me want to kiss my antivirus. Then I remember I use Windows Defender and I feel normal (nothing but contempt for Windows Defender) again
grabbed the game pretty much on impulse seeing it come out, perfect one to grab the deck and play a few levels on the bus, then end up spending the whole bus ride grinding out times on a single one instead- kila's also adorable, 10/10 creature even ignoring the movement that scratches my brain super well
An incredible game for anybody who likes IL speedrunning (or full game speedrunning, really). Lots of bite-sized levels that remind me of Super Monkey Ball but as a more traditional fixed-camera 3D platformer. I'm halfway through world 8 of 9 and haven't encountered one that's forced me to have a run more than a minute long: if it works as a touchstone for you, it scratches the same itch for me as running kart racer time trials. I'm not really sure how it feels for a casual playthrough where you're not caring about completion percentage or ranks, aside from knowing it would certainly be a much shorter game played that way, but I feel like it's probably still a fun time even if just for the aesthetic appeals of the game. The two main "types" of special run for each level test your routing abilities in different ways that often makes you look at them completely differently, which is a really smart method of making them almost feel like two different levels per level. The first few worlds generally aren't too complicated and work well as introductory/training levels, but I'd say world 4 and on are where you're expected to have a good grasp on how the game flows (haha) if you want to chase high ranks. I haven't encountered a level I'd say I disliked so far, although there are a handful that just kind of feel like filler you can 100% in only a few attempts with minimal learning time. I can't fully speak to the story yet since I haven't quite finished the game, but so far it's been sparse yet nice, a sort of series of snapshots of a life. A lot of what goes on is just kind of implied or happens "offscreen", and most of the story is told through text scrolls at the beginning and end of each world. There's a really cute animated intro at the very start of the game, though. I reeeeally like the music, a lot. I'm not quite sure how to put this into words, but I think it's a great fit for the type of gameplay loop the completionist/IL speedrun style of play has. I kind of wish I had the musical vocabulary to be more precise here, but instead I'll just repeat that it's really good. also i'm so normal about kila i promise
kila is so cute and awesome and so like you know the one post in the background of the social media themed level where it says like 'what species is it i wanna be it tbh.' That one. Yeah i agree with whoever that is al;so all the other designs are awesome and cool too . obviously anyways actual gameplay notes in general the platforming is really tight /pos ; my only complaint about general platforming is that in many times late-game its hard to see the landing reticle as the camera gets very strangely positioned very often so it doesnt really work as well as youd hope ; not to mention sometimes it lying about a particular kind of thin thing [vague for spoilers sake] being landed on or not. otherwise its very cozy and easy to get used to controls wise! make sure to keep a clear head though, the later levels can get HARD and if you get even a bit frustrated or rushy youll start failing to see very basic solutions to problems and it'll spiral into misery. ask me how i know! /rhetorical also try not to get used to flowbouncing everywhere, its really fun and can cheese a lot of things and the game barely ever discourages it but you get punished for it bad later on if you take that easy route all the time. again, ask me how i know!! /alsoRhetorical
This is a game I wish I liked more- all of the people that worked on it are awesome, the music is great, characters are fun, and it’s just so passion filled The moveset that you have and the sense of momentum feels super good- when you’re FLOWING, you’re hella flowing But in the latter half of the game it leans way harder into super hard precision platforming that I didn’t like a much (personally) I think the more lenient / open platforming of the earlier worlds I liked more, especially with some of the camera gimmicks actually hurting my head. End game becomes like, Celeste-tier precision almost. The portions where you’re upside down doing things gave me a headache :/ Also, the bosses (to me) feel like way more misses than hits. My favorites were those that were races of platforming segments, like the dolphin and dinosaur, and I think that’s where the systems shine the most in the boss fights. The more puzzle platforming bosses just weren’t fun- especially the plane and the final boss. The Sonic Adventure-esque bosses were fine, though some of the camera movements on how it focuses on the opponent, did give me motion sickness? I think it’s the virtue of the fact that you can circle around each other really fast. Playing in high gear is pretty much almost always incentivized, it feels the most fun and rewarding to control and zoom through obstacles. I liked the idea of the speed control zones changing the pace but, not sure, just didn’t like those segments as much. Another issue I had was sometimes the depth perception on jumps was hard to tell, though I know that this was later patched with an indicator that shows if you’re above the void or not, which helps a lot! Just I played through a large part of it before then, haha… I think the game is still a good time though, definitely scratches an itch. I think if you’re looking for a really kinetic and fun 3D platformer, this game has a lot to offer. When you’re in a level where you’re just flowing through, it’s at its best. And I’m sure master-level play also breezes through those end game levels, just got a bit too much for me.
The game's super fun, I love it! It's visual style and soundtrack are great, very remaniscent of frutiger aero, vaporwave, and a lot of of both modern and old internet media. The movement is a bit complicated, but it's easy to understand, specially with the tutorials they give you. I actually have to give praise to the tutorials, because even if there's a lot of them, I never felt like they were unnecessary, they not only help explain new world mechanics, but also if the game sees that ur struggling to get the hang of things, it gives you more hints to help. That being said, the game isnt perfect. No matter if i played fullscreen, windowed, with all of my things closed except the game, it always had inconsistent FPS. Especially in the first world theres low FPS. I'm assuming its because the game isnt well optimized, but it could also just be my computer not liking godot very much. During gameplay, the camera is always fixed; you cant move it, and theres some sections in levels where it's in uncomfortable spots, making you do blind jumps on certain parts. The teleporters are instant, which I don't like because not only do they sometimes send you to narnia where you have no idea whats next, but also all teleporters look the same and sometimes levels spam them so idk where i will end up. And lastly, the gravity reversers, oh my god i hated them. The changes in gravity are indicated by arrows pointing up and down, but theres never like a box indicating you where the gravity switches exactly, because sometimes its beside the arrows and sometimes its behind them. And I think this is more of a skill issue but I could NOT for the life of me get adjusted to the controls while upside down. As a last positive note, the game's story is not the GRANDEST MOST REVOLUTIONARY LORE, it mostly takes a secondary spot, but i still think it was super sweet. Genuinely felt things at the end because of it, and also, I LOVE KILA!!!!!! They are going on my favorite character list for sure. Again, big reccomend, the game has some flaws but its still hella fun, I'd say it's a 7/10 or an 8/10, hidden gem for sure!
Now, I am not much of a reviewer and there is a lot already said here about this game so I'm just going to say my own thoughts with this game, well written or not. I think KilaFlow is a great and charming fun game and I enjoy it and I'll keep coming back to it. It's a good platformer with fun worlds and bosses and a nice little story. It can be played in whatever way you want to do the levels, want to go as fast as possible? Great! Want to just get to the end? That's good too! Or just avoid every enemy? Sure, you can do that! All the bosses are different from each other being a theme or reference to some internet culture or reference which is fun, the bosses in this game are all different having a unique way of facing them or damaging them. And I did enjoy most of the boss fights aside from maybe 1 or 2. I'll get rid of the elephant in the room the way the game controls can be a bit jarring to get used to. To give an example you have a dash you can charge to go a bit faster but when you use it it kills a lot of your speed when you use it so you can't use it constantly or you'll just be going slower. And there is some jank with interactions with the environments and enemies which can lead to deaths sometimes. At the same time, the game has it's own ways of playing it and controls that feel satisfying after you understand how they work and the later levels play into that testing you that you know how to use the movement the game has been showing you and I love that! And it doesn't feel forced it feels natural, from my experience. Besides that I really enjoyed my time playing the game and I'm satisfied with it! It is a fun indie platformer with early internet mixed with some modern humor and I don't have much more to say but I think other people should play this if you like level based platformers with cute characters.
Overall great game, but it was not fun at least for me. I love platformers, but this one felt like i was in a constant 1v1 vs the camera. Bonus level 4 was a good example where the whole premise of game is go fast, but camera is pointed towards you so you have the "Can't see sh*t syndrome". I really really loved the aesthetic and the premise. Boss levels were super fun though. But overall I cannot leave a positive review as it took me multiple days to beat it, each ending with basically a ragequit on a level with poor visibiliy.
