Amazing game-flow compared to most games today. Joint Operations is a game I still have a real soft spot for because it captures a kind of large-scale shooter style that few games have matched (the game closest to comparison is ARMA and even that doesn't quite capture what Joint Operations is.) - You are not just spawning into a fight; you are being flown in by helicopters, carried across rivers in boats, or pushed forward in APCs with an entire squad around you. - The transport-first vehicle design is one of its best qualities. Helicopters, boats, hovercraft, jeeps, and armored vehicles are not just there to rack up kills but they are how the battle moves. Not to mention the fact that you can litteraly drive a jeep into a chinook at base and drop it off near combat zones. A good pilot or driver can completely change the flow of a match by getting troops into the right place at the right time. - I also love the tropical setting. The jungles, islands, rivers, villages, that give the game a look and feeling that is instantly recognizable. - Combat is medium paced, getting back into the fight is quick but not instant. It is not a hardcore milsim, but it still has enough danger and tension to make every approach feel meaningful as well. For me, Joint Operations stands out because it is not just a shooter, it is a big battlefield sandbox where you can fly into a hotzone on a blackhawk one moment, and then stealth in on a rubber boat the next.
