This is in the Survival Horror universe an equivalent to Battlefield Earth in the movie universe. This game wears a skin of a 90s survival horror not understanding the good design behind it. I really hated my playthrough of this game. It has some good things going for it like: - sometimes a really spooky atmosphere - the concept of running around town and seeing the hordes of undead closing in works really well - it doesn't take itself too seriously (though the game uses it as a shield for criticism than anything else) The bad really outweigh the good: - the camera angles are atrocious, very often the view is slanted by 45 degrees for some reason coming from a previous normal angle, this not only confuses you but makes the game hard to navigate around, there are places where by running like 2 meters max I get 3 different camera angles, very often the camera is so far away from the player (street sections) that it's hard to navigate the environment - the game is very linear, you have 2 parts of a town and multiple buildings to enter but in each one of them you have maybe 2-3 rooms and that's it, there is no exploration like the Spencer Mansion or the RPD or for that fact anything else from even newer Survival Horror games, you spend more time running between locations instead of exploring or fighting monsters - the voice acting is abysmal, RE1 had bad VA but at least it was memorable, here it's amateurish because of the next point - the game is full of fan service in a bad way, you collect plushies from streaming channels.....like....wtf. This will age like fine milk in few years when everyone forgets about them and a new set of influencers will take their place. The VAs are also youtubers ? They really deliver the lines without any thought about the situation or anything, Posters of Ultimate Warrior, figurines of Jason and many more - the game feels cheap, they don't even have a good indication of your health state, normally when you character is near death, they would limp or something like that, here there is every few seconds a big puddle of blood under you cause you know you are in the CAUTION state, wanna know if you are in DANGER ? open your inventory - bugs galore - in sewer playing as Katya and later as Jack I got blocked against a wall by a spawning monster, I couldn't move, I couldn't kill that damn thing and it was a softlock, on another occasion a boss just stand there and did nothing, another softlock, the healing works as it want's to, getting from CAUTION to GOOD may require 1 or 3 bandages (yeah I know it's a range but somehow in Tormented Souls or RE this wasn't a problem), getting hit once by a monster on normal may put you in DANGER or just do nothing at all, the knives sometimes hit with their 2 swings, sometimes they don't and many many more - you need to have knives with you at all times, the game doesn't telegraph when a boss fight will be next (except the last one), you just go through an ordinary door and you are fighting a boss, ok it may be fine but the next part isn't. I used on normal like 40 pistol bullets on my first boss and nothing, I ran out of ammo, knowing that I don't have places to scavenge I tried to use the knives, and I killed him using around 20 bullets. Each boss after few shots has a state where he kneels down and this is the moment you run up and knife him 3 times, if you don't do that you will never kill them (I tried it on multiple bosses and the scenario is the same) even the last boss is built like that. The game doesn't also communicate that mechanic to you - you constantly run miles through streets where you just juke zombies, it's climatic but it isn't fun at all, it's padding of the worst kind, a lot less locations but make them more open and explorable The funny thing is that the problems mentioned above synergize with themselves creating an even worse experience. Cameras don't work well with open streets and considering how jakny combat is, it creates additional problems. Developers.........please instead of spending time and money on creating a song about how janky the game is, just try to create a better quality game ?

I can easily recognize that this game comes from a place of love for the prior survival horror classics of the past. However, I feel that the execution leaves much to be desired. I wouldn't exactly call it a horrible experience, but there a number of aspects that really hurt it when compared to similar games in the same genre and price range. Gameplay- An emulation of a classic tank controls survival horror experience. The tension of managing resources as you traverse different areas and accompanying threats is unfortunately cut short by the often very large areas this game provides. The amount of walking from point to point with no real necessary engagement with combat was most of my first hour of gameplay. Games like these often put the player in close proximity to threats in mainly indoor or otherwise cramped locations to avoid this issue. Getting past enemies and saving as many resources you can is part of the puzzle box design survival horror games are known for. When I was forced to be close to enemies it would often be with a dozen or more in a single narrow pathway. It often felt punishing to clear these situations with the limited ammo given due to the very linear design of the game. No point in spending ammo to clear an area you will never return through. Ammo that was saved up would only often be dumped into various boss encounters. These fights had no real foreshadowing, so each time I found myself surprised without any of the more powerful tools I left back in the last save room. A bit jarring to have a game where no additional ammo can be found with the bosses' combat areas or save rooms not being right outside the door of said encounter. The dual knives provided at the at the start allow easy and free kills of single basic threats. It will stun lock them to allow for clearing entire rooms with ease. Not really something the player should be able to do consistently in this sort of game. Visually- The visual aesthetics are great. At a glace you can tell what the desired mood of a low budget B-horror movie. All of the 3D environments held up visually. I did find several jarring camera transitions in larger spaces or key points within a room being placed in ineffective spots (i.e. doors being out of frame or covered in some way by the environment). I do wish that more of the UI elements were more consistent. For example, the player's inventory is a pixel art design, yet all of the items within your slots are a much higher resolution. Bonus points for the typewriter to be replaced with a wax seal on a letter. Very nice detail. Audio- Much of the the sound design was fine or otherwise serviceable. There where some weapons that weren't given as much attention. This was enough of a feedback issue I couldn't really tell if I was even doing damage to a threat. In terms of the voice acting I personally found the amateurish performances only adds to this feeling; this is likely just my own subjective take on this aspect of the game. Bugs / Other Misc Points- -There were 2 different types I was soft-locked by a spawning enemy and was forced to restart to last save. -Damage taken from enemies isn't often clear. It is very easy to get suck & swarmed and hit to death by the several hoards encountered. -Lesser healing items seem to randomly decide to not heal the player when used. -Aiming auto-locked to the nearest enemy. This makes aiming at short threats or groups very frustrating. Conclusion- I personally would point to other games for this kind of experience (I would personally suggest titles "Signalis" or "Crow Country"). This isn't a bad game, just a very average attempt with a number of flaws. I wanted to like this game, but just wasn't enjoying my time with it.
Visualmente, Flesh Made Fear é muito bonito. A trilha sonora é outro grande destaque.
hated the game all around, unfortunately cant refund it.
A good hommage to survival horror classics of the PS1 era. If you loved the original Resident Evil - this is for you. The graphics are slightly better (more like PS2), but the gameplay is 100% classic RE - fixed cameras, tank controls, inventory management, warts and all. Pros: - Cheesy fun! - The enemy designs are quite decent, especially those of the bosses and of the Ripper. - It's a decent game overall - it ticks all boxes for a fan of classic Resident Evil games. Cons: - It's a clear hommage. It'd be scored much lower back in the day. - I personally always disliked the inventory management.
Edit after finishing the game: This game is AWESOME! Very good in every aspect i swear. The graphics, the combat, the models, what's available for you and the characters except some cringey lines from certain characters but they add flavour to the game! And i only faced one glitch while playing the whole thing. Thank you so much Michael for this amazing and well made game, truly! First Review: This game is amazing and the puzzles are just the right! Honestly i've enjoyed every moment playing it. Won't lie that the voice acting for some characters needs more polishing from the actors themselves but overall the game is pretty good and would recommend it for anyone especially for the people who enjoy the good old days.
one of the most incredible resident evil clones ive played. it feels like if resi and silent hill were merged into one game and it worked really well i loved the designs over the characters, monsters, and locations. my sole issue with the visuals is how dark it is especially when indoors which lead me to ue a guide to find out where to go at times cuz i couldnt see a door de to the darkness. the gameplay is pretty casual my one issue is apart from one or two occassions it wasnt clear that u were heading into a boss arena which lead to me dying a few times but apart from that the game plays great with good puzzles, simple combat, and enough ammo to survive. i loved how when chosing a capmaign u can see the differences between the two such as jack having moe heath but less inventory space than natalie, as well as thew unique campaign locations tied to each character. ive so far only played jacks campaign but ill update this review after finishing natalies.
Good Resident Evil inspired survival horror game. Great voice acting. The guy that voiced the Ripper did a fantastic job.
This game is one of the best PSX inspired classic Survival Horror. This was my first game of this studio, and after i finished the first run, i wanted to know more about their works, but i digress The presentation is excellent, with a Viewtiful Joe/Okami high contrast style, without being really cell shaded, since it's emulating the PSX look.. The old school cheese dialogues, but way more self aware, wonderful fixed camera angles, a dash action which makes combat so much more layered and tactical than the actual classic entries of the 90s. I've played many games that try to replicate the general formula, and they try to go way too big, and outdo the classics in scale stretching themselves too thin and losing focus, not this game... You're never lost, the map isnt some convoluted mess to the point it doesnt even really need a map for each of the areas you explore (would be welcome tho). It's not very long, but it doesnt have any padding, so you're 100% engaged playing, making the classic survival horror choices in the moment to moment. A bit linear, tho, but in this case it didnt bother me much, a few sections felt like it just funneled you into combat a bit too hard, cause it throws a lot of enemies at you... I'm trying to be critical of a game i loved here. Don't wanna spoil, but something happens around the end the makes me crave a sequel, i love the silly stuff these guys are up to, balancing horror and comedy. All in all i adored the game, i got like 16 different horror games in a frenzy, and Flesh Made Fear so far stands on the top 3 for me (you can check all my recently played for reference) 8/10 Wonderful game, make more. 9,5/10 on sale if you love the genre (base price is a lil steep)
