I'm really sad that this project seems to be dead. I still remember when I first found this game, not here on steam. I'm a bit unsure on the date, but I think it was back in 2009, When I first played a flash game on kongregate called Interstellar Marines - Bullseye, and it was little more than a shooting range. But I loved what I saw, and ever since I have supported this game and ZPS.

This was originally marketed as a Trilogy, and they didn't want a publisher to start with, it was going to be backed by the community. a AAA Indi game, published by the community.I really liked the idea, and I wanted to see what a dev team could bring us without having a publisher at their back cracking the whip. As such back in 2011 this became the first crowd funded game that I backed. Used to have a forum badge to show that I had backed it at the frontliner level. Used to have a forums badge to show for it, now days I can't even find that forum, as their website just redirects to this steam page...

Development on this games started back in 2005. It's been 15 years. And what there is to show for it, is not impressive. Over these 15 years a few things changed along the road.

The game moved from Unreal engine to unity, can't say that was an upgrade in anyway.
They started looking for a publisher. So much for AAA Indi.
They had a kickstarter with a goal of 600k, it reach 150ish and failed.
It released into early access and aimed to a release, not just an update saying "we are working on blargh" but a patch to the game every 3-6 weeks. Last update was 9 months ago. Is this that mythical storm trooper aim I have heard of?
Interstellar marines was supposed to be 4 chapters. First being Prologue, and then a trilogy of campaigns. after 15 years we still don't have the Prologue done. Also were are my damn landsharks? they where shown off over a decade ago and are still not in the game. I don't know if they ever added the walker mechs even. those mechs and landsharks was in the trailer from back in 2006.
There was supposed to be "27 guns and TONS of hi-tech equipment. I have seen concept art of about 3? guns.

There was some choice words in the trailers back in 2011.

Share the vision - Would love too, but there are no updates, the community is flying blind out here.

Will you believe? - Oh I did, the community did, for over a decade. See where that got us.

I don't see this game ever releasing, It will never live up to it's promises, it will never be what some of us back a decade ago.
TLDR:
15 years of development, and there are still things shown back in 2006 that have yet to be added to the game. No updates for the past 9 months. Not on steam, twitter, facebook, discord. Very little if anything at all that was promised over a decade ago is ready. I could not ever recommend anyone buy this in early access.

I miss this game. One of my favorites for sure, 2025 could use a spacey tactical milsim. I loved it a lot
I absolutely adore this game... and you should definitely not buy it. Sadly the devs hit some setbacks years ago (I guess the code was lost to some sort of IT related incident?). And it just never recovered. I dont think theres been any development for years, and its still in a VERY early access phase compared to what they were promising... honestly it needs to be taken off steam and just make its death official. I've had a blast every time Ive played it where there were actual players, but... thats just it... no one is playing. Its a MP only game right now and theres no one to play with. SO much potential, all thrown down the drain. The devs flew too close to the sun I guess...
8 years later and still trash.
Dead game, I haven't seen an update in nearly a year. Don't be dumb enough to buy into the early access scam like I did all those years ago.
Reject modernity, play Interstellar Marines (with some friends).

Warning: Gaming community is dead. That being said for 11$ to get a single player shooter simulator of this quality is probably worth it. It has great atmosphere and tension, sound matters, silencers have an effect, their are smart and deadly enemies be they melee zombies or armed guards. The maps are massive and allow for various approaches to the missions. It has varying difficulty and challenges in their game modes encouraging stealthy and methodical approach, coop when and if you can manage it is satisfying as ♥♥♥♥, back when this game first came out and wasn't dead it was a pleasure to jump into rounds and get on chat with people and coordinate clearing buildings, which approach to take and taking down guards and still has the potential for that assuming you have friends to play with. probably an 6/10 for me and would be an 8 or 9 if the playerbase was larger.
This was the game to introduce me to early access titles for me on steam and let me tell you it certainly saved me from blindly investing in promises ever again. Clearly pushed a lot of neat concepts such as these land shark creatures and what GTFO(didn't exist at the time) is now but never delivered but I do see some attempt to try by finally adding the coop mode but it's against boring test dummy looking robots. On the flip side games like Running with Rifles release with clearly complete content and you then invest to see more which is the way to go about it. Just a lesson to share for us steam folk. Do not recommend but if you have to pay 3-5 bucks max. Abandon ware. DO NOT BUY SPEARHEAD AS THERE WILL NOT BE ANY DLC.
