The short version of things is that this is a simple mobile point and click game with very little challenge or interest. I paid three bucks, so I'm not really that mad about it. But it's not... Great. The longer version is that the writing is uninspired, and the gameplay is very simple and very easy. I am not particularly gripped by the story, which appears to just be a variation of Lost. The gameplay doesn't distinguish between hunger and fatigue, meaning rest is all you need - and because you can rest anywhere, without gear, you just need to manage cold and sanity - the former of which can be ignored with the right kit and levels, and the latter of which only really can hurt you if you're a thoughtless and cruel jerk as a matter of course. So. After early game (which is easy), there's no survival aspect. At all. It's just meandering through the mountains, manually pathfinding because efficient pathfinding is turned of as a supposed mechanic (it's just tedious), with a camera that gets stuck. I see why they bound it to the player; if you could free roam, you could plan your whole journey, hit walk, and then just respond to events (which are... uninspired, at best). There is SO MUCH work and programming here for what amounts to a choose-your-own-adventure text game that recycles events far, far too much. It's not pretty, it's not engaging, it's not smart. There *IS* fun in it, but it's mostly in the novelty phase - You get almost the entire game experience from the tutorial, and four climbs later I'm not seeing change (I also seemingly ran out of level up choices, so... There's just not enough content, I guess.) I love survival games, and winter mountaineering is my jam in the genre, but this is a weak offering UNLESS it's 90% off. Edit: I got the refund.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Yeah no. Camera controls, limited field of view and basic mechanics. It is not a single player PEAK, maybe more of a mobile game on PC
It's fine, just very easy, and the mystery is not particularly engaging.
The idea of a roguelike mountain climber drew me in, but that is pretty much the good part of the game. In the spirit of other unimpressed reviewers, the game gets boring really quickly. The story and events are really uninteresting right off the bat, the upgrades are just percentage efficiency effects and the ui looks very empty and cheap. There are plenty of better games to spend your limited time with.
Unplayable. I don't know if this is related to the "DLL Overlay Warning" that countless people have commented on for 3 years, but whatever the reason, it never loads properly. I'm just glad I didn't spend much on it.
Climb to climb 👍

# 🇺🇸 English # 🏔️ Every Step Matters — One of the Most Unique Survival Roguelites I've Played *Insurmountable* immediately caught my attention with its concept, but what kept me playing was its execution. Instead of treating the mountain as a simple backdrop, the game turns it into the main challenge. Every decision matters, and even a seemingly safe route can become a costly mistake if you don't carefully manage your resources. It's a roguelite where surviving the climb is far more important than simply reaching the summit. --- 🎮 **Gameplay** The gameplay revolves around planning ahead. Every move requires you to evaluate terrain, elevation, weather conditions, and the physical cost of crossing each section of the mountain. Managing stamina, body temperature, oxygen, and health makes even small choices feel meaningful. The shortest path is rarely the smartest one, and taking a longer, safer route often pays off. Random events constantly force you to adapt, ensuring that every expedition feels different instead of becoming predictable. --- 🎨 **Graphics & Audio** The visual style is clean and atmospheric. The mountains successfully capture a feeling of isolation, while changing weather and varied environments make every climb visually rewarding. The interface presents a surprising amount of information without becoming overwhelming, which is essential for a strategy-focused experience. The soundtrack is subtle, allowing the silence of the mountain to become part of the atmosphere and making the journey feel even more immersive. Performance also remains consistently smooth throughout the adventure. --- ⚖️ **Difficulty & Progression** The difficulty is demanding but fair. Failures usually come from poor planning rather than unfair mechanics, making every mistake feel like a valuable lesson instead of a frustrating setback. As you become better at reading terrain, managing resources, and anticipating danger, your own improvement becomes one of the most satisfying forms of progression. --- 🧩 **Fun & Replay Value** Procedurally generated mountains, random events, different climbers, and unique abilities ensure that no two expeditions feel exactly alike. Every run presents new decisions, unexpected challenges, and alternative strategies to explore. It's the kind of roguelite where failure naturally motivates you to immediately start another climb. --- ✅ **Final Verdict** *Insurmountable* takes an incredibly original concept and builds an engaging survival roguelite around it. Resource management, exploration, and meaningful decision-making come together to create a thoughtful experience that's unlike almost anything else in the genre. If you enjoy strategy games that reward careful planning over fast reflexes, this is absolutely worth your time. **⭐ Highly Recommended. Few games make every single step feel this important.**
