Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.29/day in the week to Jul 24 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Could have been great.

Easily one of the most innovative co-op games that I ever had the pleasure of playing. I dearly wish there were more classes to fill the gaps that are in the class selection screen, and if it were at all possible allowing mod support to give the community the opportunity to create more content would be an absolute dream. Thank you so much for sharing such an excellent game and piece of art that clearly had an incredible amount of love and dedication behind it.
as usual, i beg steam for a neutral review option. no full damage recap in this kind of game is absolutely criminal. theres no way to tell how viable certain builds are, how certain builds will hold up in solo or coop etc. and knowing the game devs abandoned ship after a failed battlepass and lack of revenue (so therefore no further development) really sucks. especially because stats recap was apparently on the roadmap at some point? womp womp. maybe they will update, and then i will revisit this review. game is still fun though. probably only buy on massive discount. From a mod on the official inkbound reddit: On the discord the dev team announced that the shiny shoe team has decided to no longer continue ongoing support for the game citing insufficient sales to continue the project. The team says that they plan to keep servers running for the foreseeable future and continue to discount the game to a lower and lower price but not release any new content for the foreseeable future as well. Shiny shoe stated that they are a small team and have decided to move focus to a different product they plan to announce when ready, but to expect radio silence till then.
This game is kind of a sleeper hit. It’s ridiculously fun and way more addicting than I expected. The co-op is especially satisfying, and beating tougher bosses or encounters feels genuinely rewarding. Unlocking the other classes can be a bit tedious, which is my only real complaint. But once the mechanics start to click and you really understand how to play, the whole experience opens up. When it clicks, this game is amazing.
this game isn't very solo-player friendly.
This game is a sleeper.
Not really much to the game unfortunately. Can pretty much finish everything in 10-20 h of game play. It barely changed from the early access
Inkbound is a unique blend of roguelike progression, tactical combat, and cooperative gameplay, all wrapped in a vivid, narrative-rich fantasy setting. Developed by Shiny Shoe, the creators of Monster Train, this game drops players into a mystical library world where stories are alive and constantly under threat. As a player, you take on the role of a "Needless," a character bound by ink and story, venturing into corrupted tomes to preserve the knowledge of the universe. The game cleverly ties its mechanics and aesthetics to the written word, creating a world where language, lore, and imagination intertwine seamlessly. The turn-based combat in Inkbound is where it truly distinguishes itself. Players are granted full freedom to move, cast abilities, and reposition during each turn, using a shared resource called "Will." Unlike traditional grid-based tactics games, the system here is fluid and spatially dynamic—you can loop behind enemies, dodge area attacks, or line up a perfect combo sequence in a single turn. Every encounter feels like a puzzle where strategic movement is as important as raw power. The visual indicators for enemy telegraphs and range help create a battle flow that is both readable and engaging, whether you're playing solo or in a squad. There are five playable classes, or “bindings,” each with their own distinct style and upgrade paths. Whether you're wrapping enemies in thread as a Weaver or smashing through defenses as a Magma Miner, each class feels thoughtfully designed and opens up exciting synergies. Over the course of each run, you collect new abilities and passive bonuses that can dramatically shift your playstyle. Some combinations feel game-breaking in a satisfying way, while others encourage more careful planning and adaptability. The variety keeps every run feeling fresh, though there are occasional balance issues that make some builds far more viable than others. Outside of combat, the game unfolds in the Atheneum, a sprawling library hub that serves as both a home base and narrative anchor. Between runs, players interact with quirky NPCs, take on branching quests, and unlock permanent upgrades. The game encourages experimentation and long-term progression by offering new bindings, cosmetics, and gameplay modifiers. However, some of the quest lines can become tedious, requiring very specific conditions or forcing players into certain classes or strategies. While this adds structure, it can also restrict creative freedom during runs, making progression feel slightly constrained at times. Where Inkbound really comes alive is in its cooperative mode. Up to four players can work together to clear runs, combining powers and strategies in real time. Turns are shared, allowing for careful coordination and combo chaining that’s both rewarding and highly tactical. Playing with others not only makes the game more dynamic, but it also opens up more possibilities for synergy and experimentation. Unfortunately, the lack of built-in matchmaking means that unless you're joining friends, organizing multiplayer games can be a hassle. Still, when played cooperatively, the experience is a standout—intense, strategic, and full of unexpected moments. Visually, the game is a treat. Its watercolor-inspired aesthetic gives life to the strange, storybook world, with locations and characters that feel abstract yet distinct. The art direction leans toward surrealism, using vibrant color palettes and glowing ink effects to reinforce the game’s narrative theme. Music and sound design shift seamlessly between the calm serenity of the Atheneum and the high tension of battle, creating a strong emotional contrast. The user interface, while functional and informative, can be a bit dense for new players, especially when tracking modifiers, cooldowns, and enemy patterns all at once. Though the core gameplay and presentation are strong, Inkbound has its shortcomings. Enemy variety can feel repetitive after extended play, and the procedural level generation sometimes leads to overly familiar layouts. The game’s early hours can also feel overwhelming due to the sheer number of systems introduced with minimal explanation. Despite these hurdles, the long-term progression system is rewarding, especially once players understand how builds and synergies come together. The developers have also shown a willingness to adapt, removing microtransactions and season passes after community feedback, and replacing them with more traditional, player-friendly cosmetic DLC. In the end, Inkbound is a bold and thoughtful addition to the roguelike landscape. It delivers tactical depth, a strong cooperative experience, and a world that is as imaginative as it is mysterious. While a few design decisions may hold it back from absolute greatness, the core mechanics are polished, inventive, and consistently satisfying. Whether you’re experimenting with new builds, unraveling the strange lore of the Atheneum, or teaming up with friends to conquer chaotic battles, Inkbound offers an experience that is both cerebral and enchanting. It's a game that rewards thoughtfulness and creativity, inviting players to write their own stories within its ever-evolving pages. Rating: 8/10
