GOOD GAME
OH MY GOD! this game was so good! you can tell that tender love and care was put into making this game. from voicelines to animation, this game was a 10/10. Can't wait for chapter 2. will spend any amount of money for chapter 2. IT'S THAT GOOD.
Indigo Park: Chapter 1 is a first person horror game that takes me into an abandoned amusement park that has been left to rot after a mysterious incident. I enter the park looking for answers and end up being guided around by Rambley the Raccoon, the parks old mascot and guide. The whole place has this strange mix of cheerful theme park stuff and something clearly being very wrong underneath it. I really like that contrast because the bright characters and old attractions make the creepy parts stand out even more. Rambley is easily my favourite part of the game. He is friendly, funny and constantly trying to keep the experience feeling like a normal day at Indigo Park, even when the environment around me clearly says otherwise. His voice acting and animations give him a lot of personality, and I actually enjoy listening to him explain things and guide me through the park. The game also uses him to give me bits of information about the attractions and the parks history, so he does more than just point me towards the next objective. Exploring the park is where most of my time goes. I have to find items, restore power, solve some simple puzzles and look around the different attractions for collectibles and secrets. I like taking my time because there are plenty of little details hidden around the environment, including old merchandise and information that gives me more clues about what happened. The park itself has a really good atmosphere, especially when I move from the more cheerful areas into sections where the abandoned setting starts to feel much more threatening. The biggest problem for me is that the gameplay is fairly basic. A lot of the chapter involves walking around, finding something I need and interacting with it before moving on. The puzzles are not particularly difficult either, so I am rarely stuck for very long. There is one proper chase sequence that gives the game a much stronger burst of tension, and I think I would have enjoyed more moments like that. The horror works well when I feel like something is actually after me, but most of the chapter is more about exploration and setting up the story. I also have to judge the game as a first chapter rather than a complete horror game. It ends after setting up a lot of questions about Indigo Park, its mascots and what happened when the park closed. I like having mysteries to think about, but there is obviously a limit to how much can be answered when the game is only the beginning of a larger story. The short length is noticeable too, although I do not mind it nearly as much because the game is free. I would rather have a short chapter with a strong identity than something padded out just to make it longer. The presentation is probably where the game feels strongest after Rambley. The abandoned theme park looks good, the mascot designs are memorable and the sound helps create that uneasy feeling without constantly trying to scare me. I especially like how the game can go from something funny and colourful to something genuinely uncomfortable without needing to completely change its visual style. The music and voice work also give the park a personality that makes it feel like it had a life before everything went wrong. Overall, Indigo Park: Chapter 1 is a really promising start that I enjoyed mainly because of its atmosphere, characters and mystery. Rambley gives the game a lot of charm, while the abandoned park gives me a setting that I actually want to explore and understand. The main thing holding it back for me is the limited gameplay, since there is not enough puzzle solving or danger to make the whole chapter feel consistently exciting. Even with that problem, I think the strong presentation, interesting setup and completely free price make it well worth playing. I just want the future chapters to build on the foundation here and give me more to actually do while keeping the same personality. Rating: 7.8/10
this game is actually the most fun ive had in a while definetely recommend
Good
This free horror game about an abandoned park is the absolute best horror game I've ever seen! I really hope the second part will be free too. But in the worst-case scenario, if it does cost money, I hope it won't be expensive because not everyone has a lot of money to spend on games. Either way, this game is thrilling and incredibly scary. Can't wait for part 2!
