About

a xenobiologist who discovers extraterrestrial life while searching for her missing partner.
When Ellery is called to planet Gliese 677Cc by Minae Nomura, only to arrive at an abandoned base, she finds herself adrift in an ocean of secrets, with little more than a malfunctioning diving suit and a strange AI to guide her. You are this AI.
Guide Ellery—and keep her safe—as you dive deeper and explore an underwater alien landscape. The planet’s unique life, and its dark history, are yours to uncover and the bond between you and Ellery will be tested by the secrets you learn. Through this shifting narrative, In Other Waters asks questions about the nature of “natural” and “artificial” life, and investigates what it means to be a human in an epoch of extreme environmental destruction. For life to continue, it must change.

Freely dive into an expansive section of seafloor, from shimmering reefs to inky depths. Unlock upgrades and make discoveries that allow you to open up new paths, uncovering strange creatures and environments as you do.

Navigate an elegant, intuitive UI via gamepad or mouse controls. Interpret signals, set headings, and map the ocean through experimentation and intuition.

Discover and catalogue species through observation, scanning, taking samples, and interacting with alien life. Read Ellery’s notes, look at her sketches, and help her classify an entirely new ecosystem.

Choose whether to study creatures, investigate secrets or dive new areas, then come back to your base to study samples in the lab, chat to Ellery or read her journals to understand more about this world.

Through limited communication learn more about the person whose suit you inhabit, and help guide her towards a terrible truth. What you experience together will bring you closer.

This game is amazing, for me the gameplay was abit repetitive but the question of what comes next kept me going to finish the game. When i played subnautica I loved the part where you could scan creatures and learn their features and lore, this game takes that part to the extreme with loads of writing per creature and also an amazing plot to go along with it. 9.5/10
In Other Waters is the perfect example of how you can create a game with minimal gameplay and visuals, and still make an experience that can bring someone to tears. This game seriously need to be more talked about, and while it isnt for everyone, the things it can do with just words and yellow dots is amazing. At some points it made me think i was really there with the minimal but extremely imersive gameplay, and at others it brought me to tears with the beauty of this world with only a few words and some yellow dots, and in the later parts of the game, i genuinly felt scared when going deep into the anomaly. Speeking about that, the story may be a bit cliche, but the ending just feels amazing, in ways i dont know how to put into words. The ways this game is able to show an entire world, with every little creature and plant, with only a few dots is just magical, and i know ive already said this, but sometimes it genuinly had me speechless with the way this world works. If you don't want any spoilers (which i would highy recommend, especially as im about to talk about my favorite part) skip to the conclusion or just stop here. The Moment when you first go into the brine pools is the best part of the game for me. It really felt like i was in the submersible finding the hydrothermal vents and all the life not known to man for myself. Some other close ones are in the pillar gardens and lab 1, and when you first go into lab 3 and youre hud turns red. That last moment truly envoked fear into me. In conclusion the way this game manages to make something with almost nothing is just, and i know ive already said this, pure magic. If you are a spec bio fan like me the truly unique and beliaveble ecosystem is a must have, and if you are a game designer, you can learn alot about how gameplay can be shaped to help an ultimate goal. Theres much more i could say, and i fell like i could right an entire 10 page essay about this game, but nothing can make up for the experiance of playing it youreself, so please, its only 10 usd and won't take long, just play it.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
Reseña de In Other Waters

TLDR: In Other Waters is effectively a visual novel. Neat story premise, but man the gameplay is tedious.
Story
You are a sentient operating system piloted by a xenobiologist in an ocean-covered planet. Your goal is to investigate the alien life and to slowly uncover the mystery of what happened here.
Mechanics
You view the environment through a minimalistic HUD. You press space to scan the area, revealing nodes. You click a node, press W to turn toward it, then press W again to move to it. Then you might collect resources (power/oxygen), and there might be some story dialog. Repeat for 6 hours.

This is competently written, scored, and designed experience, with a great atmosphere. There is no game to be found. If you want an atmosphere, or have a weakness for reading data logs, it may be your thing. It is my thing, but it just barely satisfied me if I'm being honest, the little interactivity it had was just barely enough to cover the gap the, not lackluster, not quite interesting enough experience left me with. This being said I now really want to try Citizen sleeper, to see what else the dev can do, since this game is just screaming "potential".
