There's a Corgi. Nuff said.
Im playing on steamdeck and the ui hints are taking up half the screen. I have found no options to turn the hints off, or make the ui smaller/less obtrusive. The hints are either automatically on or too easy to accidentally bump with no way to minimize them afterward, from what i can tell by clicking around. Its listed as playable on deck, and it does work and i didnt have issues technically. but i found it frustrating to play with how little screen i can actually see, especially as the levels quickly grew, so i cant recommend this to someone wanting to play ***exclusively on steamdeck.*** Options to customize the size/placement of the UI would help and maybe a little “X” on the hints? Or a setting to permanently disable them? Unfortunately I do not intend to ever play this on a monitor, as this is a game i purchased to play in bed before going to sleep. I am pretty bummed bc i enjoyed the first few levels, but i dont see myself revisiting this one.

As with the other second game this took a step forward from the first game but then many steps back. If you want to know which game to get here is my recommendation. Want to play online maps? HTT1 Want to create online maps? HTT1 Want to play the official campaign? HTT2: M&M then HTT2: Discovery I find the campaign better in the newer games however Discovery has so many obvious bugs that should never of even made it to release and as such it falls behind M&M which I dont remember having nearly as many problems (although I'm sure there are some). The online Scene is more active in the first game as there are less openable objects, clicking an item actually clicks it instead of a nearby item, and there are far more themed items to choose from which makes many maps feel unique. That said both the second games did things well, mainly with creating your own maps. I much prefer the sort options of the second games and Discovery improved that even further then M&M. I also think being able to choose the music is a nice touch, although I prefer the music of the first game. Another thing I really love is being able to add weather to the map, however having to switch weather modes to see items really hurts the enjoyment, probably why most people only use a single weather option instead of choosing 2. Finally the buildings are improved from the first game as its so much easier to place objects inside them and not have it look weird, of course this also came with a problem of objects being able to disappear if you open the house so again a step back. Overall I would say this game isnt really worth it as there is very little content and if you are going to rely on online maps to get that content then you may as well get the first game. The only reason I purchased this version is because I want to support and show I want more HTT games but if the quality of the next game is like this one then my support will stop.

Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery offers a charming experience with a creative selection of hide and seek objects to find throughout its beautifully illustrated maps. One of the best features is how certain levels make use of two stage states like daytime and nighttime because each state hides specific objects that only appear during that time. This mechanic adds a clever layer to the search and keeps the gameplay engaging. I also enjoyed that each era features its own self contained story which follows the successful format of the previous game and gives the scavenger hunt a nice sense of purpose. However there are some notable drawbacks that make this entry feel a bit light. The runtime is very brief because you can easily reach one hundred percent completion in barely over two hours. The difficulty is also a bit inconsistent since some of the hidden objects are actually giant and require almost no effort to spot. It is also a real shame that the developers did away with the secret object mechanic from the second game because I really missed that extra challenge of unlocking a secret stage. Overall Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery is a fun and relaxing addition to the series that introduces some clever environmental mechanics despite its very short length and simplified difficulty. It is a great choice for a quick gaming session even if it lacks some of the depth and bonus content found in its predecessor.
It's a relaxing game for when you want to play with a short amount of time, like a stage or two. Sometimes I can't seem to find any even though I have looked through all places. Well, it has done its purpose of hiding. Btw, I love the descriptions hint for their location lol, it just makes my day sometimes.
makes me feel more observant than i actually am
