About
Hellish Quart is a local-only (two players play on one PC, not online), physics-based sword fighting game. Set in 17th century Poland, it features a cinematic story and the most iconic sword fighter archetypes of this period.
With motion-captured fencing techniques and four gamepad buttons representing four attack angles, you'll need to use timing, technique, and speed to defeat your opponents. Choose from a variety of warriors and take part in cinematic story mode, arcade mode, safe sparring, quick fights, survival mode with online leaderboards, or local multiplayer. If you want to hone your sword fighting skills, you can spar with wooden weapons or train in modern HEMA gear. And for the ultimate experience, Hellish Quart also offers an optional VR mode.
Please note that the game is still in development and only supports local multiplayer (two players play on one PC, not online).

Hellish Quart utilizes active ragdolls and real-time physics to get you the ultimate fencing experience. You can attack from four different angles using the four gamepad buttons. Different button combinations enable special attacks and combos. When you are not attacking, your character automatically assumes a defensive stance, blocking your opponent's attacks using the autoguard feature. Proper timing, technique, speed, measure, and wits are all crucial to winning, just like in real-world fencing.
The game is set in the historical 17th-century Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the character models are based on 3D-scanned, reconstructed clothes from that period. The single-player campaign, once completed, will be firmly rooted in the reality of life in the region. You will duel against Zaporozhian Cossacks, Polish Hussars, Tatars, Turkish Janissaries, Swedish Reiters, French Musketeers, and more.

I think this might be a scam. It's been in Early Access since 2021, I bought in during the 2026 Summer Sale and completed the story mode content in less than 1 hour. Why is Steam allowing this to happen? Its been in EA for 5 YEARS!!! but its got the content of a demo. Be very cautious about considering to purchase this.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Garbage buggy ass game, been out for years but the combat is still full of bugs and there is no story,
So, despite loving this game and playing a lot of it... yeah, it's getting worse. The bugs are becoming more notable and the sunk cost fallacy on the Dynamic Muscle Strength system (or whatever it's called) is getting worse. The developer keeps fiddling with it trying to make them better, for not net payoff. The game unfortunately just plays better without them. I think I know what he's going for- that feeling of uncertainty you get when two swords clash in real life. Unfortunately, they do just break interactions. I finally turned them off and suddenly all the attacks work as intended and characters I thought were trash are back to feeling playable. Also, I'm a single player gamer and even I know that there's not enough content here without a proper multiplayer mode, or some wild game modes. I've even started hankering for Multiplayer myself. Also, he balances characters for singleplayer, which feels rough on the multiplayer community that exists in spite of him. He also has some clear biases, so Marie who started off as an incredibly strong rapier fencer is now just materially worse than most other options. Another thing: he's made a campaign mode, which is good, even if it isn't finished yet. However, why does it have walking around mechanics? Why not string a series of fights together with cutscenes? It's just cutscenes with extra steps at the moment anyway. Finally, the developer is basically unrresponsive to feedback. I really think at this point he should give up on the Dynamic Muscles, fix the bugs, finish off maybe two more characters, finish the campaign mode (dropping the rubbish walking and riding segments), then maybe just release it as is. If he wants to release more characters and modes later, he can come back to it, but it's been like this for years. I'm going to keep playing and loving the game sporadically, but I just can't recommend it to others.
games good but holy ♥♥♥♥ the hits are so inconsistent its not even funny... tell me how i slice a guy in the face stomach and hand hes using to hold the sword but hes still standing but i take a SINGULAR slice to the arm and im just done.... how are u bout to make a sword game but have the sword play so one sided (in AIs favor). im gonna keep playing sadly casue ive wanted this game for awhile but wow man fix ♥♥♥♥. also STOP TAKING MONEY FROM ME WHEN I LOSE A MATCH ITS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ STUPID I EARNED THAT MONEY FROM A DIFFRENT MATCH THAT MONEY SHOULDNT EVER BE TOUCHED HOW THE ♥♥♥♥ DO U EXPECT PEOPLE TO SAVE UP!?
Just wasn't for me. I was surprised how little content there was despite EA release being 2021. For some the very short story might be enough but the fights alone aren't that interesting and addictive. For comparison Half Sword came out not long ago (also EA) and it has more content and the fights are ultra addictive and fun with much variation. It doesn't have a "story mode" but still takes the cake. I'd go with Half Sword any day.
Необычно и оригинально. Игру не забросили и продолжают делать обновления, хоть и не часто.
just bought the game on sale and it was broken with an update and doesnt load. never even got to play it. terrible. refunded Apparenttly dev used some excuse about a sick mother as a reason for the game being broken, while also putting the game on sale at the same time. Guy should put it back on sale for wasting everyones time
on a cheap deal it would good but full price hell no. This game lack in content its not that great of a game
> Удар не регистрирует > Регдол крутит как кишки от индийской пищи > Персонажи имеют разные характеристики - ноль информации > Нет возможности переключать стойки > Управление сделано под осьминога И всё таки это весёлая и оригинальная игра. Всем советую
