About
Hammerting is a vertical dwarven mining colony sim with RPG elements.
Manage a clan of colourful Dwarves, establish an epic mining operation, craft legendary swords and delve deep for greater glory, riches... and danger.
With conflict raging on the surface, the Dwarves pledge to delve deep and as master craftspeople, will produce and supply what is needed to support their allies. From humble beginnings, you start with a handful of Dwarves who need to set up their operations quickly. However, as you progress, your small clan will expand and become known throughout the Overworld for their skill and premium craftsmanship.
Allies on the surface will have all manner of requests. Dwarves may find themselves asked to craft a plethora of silver swords against an oncoming army.
With the Overworld in need, every successful delivery takes you one step closer to triumph. As your Dwarves grow in skill and your base expands, build conveyor belts and elevators to free them of manual labour.
Does Åglöf’s fancy ancestry clash with Vargskreva’s humble upbringing? Is your explorer afraid of the dark? Has your master crafter reached their Ballmer Peak? Aim for success and exploit the strengths of your Dwarves, as well as their weaknesses. Each Dwarf is richly and uniquely defined through its stats, Dwarven ancestry, traits, abilities, equipment, move-set and much more, as they are shaped by events occurring in their lives.

Anyone can craft an Iron Sword, but only Dwarves can dig down into the depths and cart up boatloads of diamonds and bones and use it to craft the... Iron Sword +2.
With every strike of the hammer on an anvil, a skilled Dwarf has a better chance of achieving a critical result, giving you better and improved gear.

It is as they say – “Fortune favours the bold”, and only in the deepest depths will you find the most powerful materials, the warmest magma, the rarest treasures, but also the most dangerous conditions.
Figuring out the fastest and safest route down - and up again - is a chief concern, but you’ll have plenty of unique Dwarven mechanisms to help you to do so.
Hammerting features liquid and physics mechanics for pumping sizzling lava to your hearths, brewing hoppy beer, tossing burning torches down shafts to light up the unknown and more!
A Dwarven king once said: “A single axe is easily blunt, but an army of axes is unbreakable!”. You might want to explore and populate the depths of Mara on your own, but you can also partner up with jolly comrades and run a dwarven colony together. It’s all about synchronization, companionship and common goals!
Sums Steam only; GOG, Epic publish no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

Great example for loss of potential. Team 17 used to be a bold name back in Amiga times. This was one of the reasons, why I got this game in early access. Like someone mentioned before, developers attention seemed be suffitient enough to go for it. Unafortunately development of the game ended up shortly after full release. As conclusion, we have a lot of "unfinished" mechanics, like smell. Also heritage of dwars (advertised at some point as a feature) doesn't seem to have any significant impact on how you planning your colony and there is more to explore when you get deeper into the game. Game overall seem to be polished at first glance but having such potential it's just abandonend project now. Not finished, despite advertised as completed. Sad.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 17: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.29/day in the week to Jul 30 → 0.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Super fun! GO forth, my dorfs. Really addicting and fun to build your underworld kingdom, but you will definitely have to look up tips on job management to get our dwarves to actually build the damn elevators. The diagonal railing is annoying to line up. It's very easy to become disoriented once you expand very far so I wish there was a way to mark where certain landmarks are or something. Oh, I also wish you could disable auto-locking the screen onto the monster hordes when they appear.. Still tons of fun! I'm also shocked my laptop is still running this game just fine after I built so so many buildings and housed so many dwarfs.
Lots of fun but had to redo boards over and over as some mechanics are not intutative.
Clearly abandoned half complete. What's here is a frustrating tease of what could have been, which is more aggravating than fun. I wouldnt recommend buying this for anyone - this current trend, of viral hit or abandoning of EA titles, as a deliberate development plan shouldnt be rewarded

More Like "Forged Stress" — A Hilarious, Heartbreaking Dwarf Survival Guide
https://store.steampowered.com/app/760650/

One-line verdict up front:
The name is genius — because the one being "forged in a hundred refinements" isn't the dwarves, it's [strike]the guy stuck at the bottom of an elevator shaft[/strike] you.

🧐 What even is this game?
Short version: a side-view dwarf-mining colony sim published by Team17 — basically the love child of Oxygen Not Included and Craft the World. You run a bunch of cave-dwelling dwarves, mine, build, smelt, and occasionally pop up to the surface to sell weapons and supplies to the humans and elves like a medieval arms dealer. Sounds great, right? And the art genuinely is great (the one thing nobody ever trashed). But heads up:
[]The game launched Nov 2021 in Early Access and was officially abandoned due to "poor sales." No major updates. It died peacefully. []Steam rating: Mixed, roughly 58–59% positive.
So this isn't "full of potential" — it's "already dead." Think hard before swiping your wallet.

🎯 Buy it / Run away

[th]Buy if…[/th][th]Run if…[/th]

You're a hardcore ONI / Craft the World veteran who wants to suffer in a new flavorYou want a complete story, main quest, or a finished game

You can tolerate braindead dwarf AI and religious manual savingYou have zero tolerance for bugs and soft-locks

You're just here for the gorgeous art and musicYou expect the title "Hammerting" to actually let you hammer things

🛠 Beginner Survival Guide (the real content — save your run with this)

All of this was bought with the blood and corrupted save files of veterans. Bookmark it.

1. Solve the "Wood Crisis" first
The single most counterintuitive, newbie-killing point: there is no wood near your base.
[]Houses, lighting, workbenches — all need wood, but wood must be bought from the surface. []Early on, mine copper, craft lanterns and copper tools, sell them, and buy wood.
Build houses and light everything first, or dwarf morale tanks (no house + no booze = mood collapse) and your colony goes on strike.

2. Mining: not "click to dig"

[]Unlike Craft the World, you have to drag-select an area to dig; dwarves reach about 3 tiles high. []The rarest ores are deepest — and so are the nastiest monsters. Before exploring, SAVE.

3. Elevators are "dwarf meat grinders" (biggest trap, period)

[]Elevators only build top-down, never bottom-up. []Dwarves often forget to carry copper, and an elevator platform needs 2 copper — resulting in the classic scene: four or five dwarves stuck at the bottom of the shaft, staring at each other, collectively zoning out.
Dwarves who fall into a pit will not climb out by themselves. Plan your stairs properly, or your mine becomes a dwarf cemetery.

4. Arcane Lore: the soul of all technology
New tech isn't free — it's gated by Arcane Lore (Tiers 1–5), which needs two resources:

[th]Mountain Lore[/th][th]Trade Lore[/th]

Earned by mining & exploring the mountainEarned by completing surface quests & trading

Later, the surface will demand weird, specific goods you can often only make after unlocking the right lore — plan your tech around quest requirements, don't click blindly.
5. Trade = your economic lifeline

[]Mine → craft tools → sell to human/elf kingdoms → earn money + Trade Lore. []Better relations = discounts.
One victory condition is "allying/controlling all surface sites," which basically means: do every quest. The game explains this terribly, so stop hunting for a main quest that doesn't exist.

6. Dwarf growth & tool slots (where people get stuck)

[]Dwarves have five stats: Agility, Wisdom, Awareness, Physique, Passion; working grants XP, leveling grants skill points. []Each dwarf holds up to 3 tools; the default loadout is Build + Craft + Combat.
Once you build cooking, jewelry, tailoring stations, manually swap in the matching tools — otherwise they stand around doing nothing and you'll blame the AI when it's actually a missing tool.

7. The Survival Trinity (hard-earned lessons)
[olist] []Save often: crashes, corrupted saves, and stuck dwarves are routine. Always save before expeditions and big fights. []Don't brute-force with speed-up: fast-forward loves to crash.
Manage expectations: low-HP dwarves enter an infinite "retreat → work → retreat" loop, and below ~25% HP they flat-out refuse to fight. It's not your fault — the
