Take The Shape of Evil as Michael Myers or save your neighbors as a Hero of Haddonfield in Halloween, the ultimate asymmetrical horror sandbox.
As Michael, players wear the mask, become the Boogeyman, and stalk innocent residents with relentless obsession. Utilizing a nightmarish array of abilities, Michael leverages shadows and stealth to satisfy his bloodthirst. This doesn’t mean Haddonfield is going down without a fight. Frightened townsfolk will call the local authorities and even fight back when threatened, incentivizing Michael to avoid detection. And for the first time ever, fans of the transformative original film will have the option to witness the haunting narrative events surrounding "The Night He Came Home" through the eyes of Michael Myers in a standalone singleplayer story mode.
As a Hero of Haddonfield, it’s your job to alert the residents of Haddonfield to the impending evil and help them escape before falling victim to Michael’s unyielding pursuit. In dynamic and ever-changing 1v4 asymmetrical multiplayer matches, hero players must arm themselves with everyday household items, weapons, and knowledge to combat an unpredictable and unkillable enemy. Convincing townsfolk and contacting the police will lead to increasingly powerful and thorough neighborhood patrols. To even the odds, you can command and equip NPCs with weapons to outsmart or even overpower The Shape, providing precious windows for escape.
This immersive horror sandbox is powered by Unreal Engine 5 to deliver engaging and dynamic gameplay systems, life-like NPCs, hauntingly realistic visuals, cinema-quality lighting, and endless scares for you and your friends. Asymmetrical horror comes home in Halloween.

If you like these kinds of games is fantastic. It is what I wanted to replace Friday the 13th and more!
Game needs a lot more polish but I've been having fun despite the issues. I'm not really as interested in the online multiplayer, so I do like that you can make progress by playing the story/private matches with yourself or friends. I hope there's more content that you can do solo later down the line. There's definitely a lot of things that need to be patched. I had a lot of bugs that made some challenges hard to complete and the optimization is REALLY rough, though the recent hotfix did improve it a bit. I kind of wish there was a neutral rating. I recommend the game if you're fine with waiting for patches to roll out, otherwise maybe wait until some updates have dropped.

I will give this game 4 stars, Very fun, better than KKFOS But not as good as TCM, Animations could use some work.
Bad played 4 games first game over in a minute second game died respawned on top of him and died instantly didnt even get to move 3rd game another survior pushed me and made me stuck to where i couldnt do anything just had to sit there and wait to die super buggy
Was the game worth $60? 🚫 No. Did my friends and I spend $60 on the game because we all had the whole weekend off for once and wanted to take advantage of that and have fun together? ✅ Yes. Overall I will say the game is fun if you play it with friends. If you plan on playing it solo or don’t care about having access to the game early, I’d say just get it for $40 or wait for a sale. The game does have a fair amount of jank and glitches. If your tolerance for that is low, then definitely wait for a sale, maybe by then they will fix some of the issues. If you are impatient like me and my friends and are desperate for a new co-op to play together because there are hardly any new co-op games coming out and you are bored of the ones you’ve been playing for the last 10 years then you probably already paid the $60. I just hope this one doesn’t get abandoned and shutdown like Friday the 13th did. My friends and I really enjoyed playing that together and I’m glad there is finally something similar to play together again. What needs improvement: - Performance optimization - Animation glitches - NPC AI (NPCs have ran away at Mach speed the opposite direction of the escape I just opened and got their self killed) In my nearly 8 hours of playtime I only crashed once, and only disconnected once, and I haven’t encountered that many glitches. Not sure if I’ve just gotten lucky or what. If you are crashing a lot, I highly recommend updating your BIOS, especially if you have an Intel 13th or 14th generation CPU. My friends and I all have Intel 13th/14th gen CPUs and we used to crash a lot on almost every game until we updated our BIOS and now we pretty much never crash on any game anymore.
Really good game amazing
i already see dbd bots across social media commenting on this game without really giving it a chance outside of thinking its just a dbd clone. what makes this game exponentially better than dbd right out the gate is that your teammates cant sabotage you. that is the number one downfall of dbd. youre either getting trolled by another survivor or youre in a lobby with new survivors that DONT KNOW BARE MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE about the game just because you didnt play every day. and oh yeah theyre gonna reset it in a month anyways....so youre stuck with new players even if you played for thousands of hours. its also funny to see people talk about the animations of this game like dbd hasnt had horrible animations (and still does) for its entire run. the fact that this game has so many things you can do in a match makes it truly different each match. its not "oh more new default console survivors. i know im not going to escape so the match is pretty much already over. they cant last in chase for more than 2 seconds." so many dbd matches are like this once youve played thousands of hours but dont play every single day of the month. the dbd devs dont care about their community on twitch which is the core of its player base. grinding for perks in this game feels a lot better and more specific to your characters. in dbd you just get bloodpoints....for what even at this point, no one knows. all im saying is this game is new and dont let people that came to dbd during the stranger things chapter tell you that this NEW game is bad and should die. they are ass and stuck on a continuous loop of gens and default console players. YAY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G70NgX1ffFk pls watch this and tell me its amazing and that the gameplay has changed significantly since then
Okay so I was hyped for the game and bought the pre-release... here's everything I think you should know: - The story mode is NOT good, Michael feels very clunky and the random bots running around and a cutscene every two steps does not make you feel immersed. The only upsides are that the game looks good and it teaches you most of the controls. BUT - Multiplayer mode is VERY fun, I played with one friend (max 4 friends can play with you, or 5 if you make a custom game), and we had lots of laughs, scares, and interesting gameplay. I'd recommend but I'd advise you wait until the normal release, because buying the early access is not really worth it.
Fun game once you get used to it. Lots of stuff needs to get fixed up though. The online mode objective seems more welcoming compared to Dbd's whole gameplay. Seems more forgiving and more of everything rather than fixing some generators. I'm not too huge on the Halloween IP but do still like it. I mainly got this cause I saw it'd have a story mode along with the bots in the multiplayer mode(which dbd does not have). I'm employed. I work 10 hours a day and I just want to come home and play a slasher game w out having to play against the sweatiest people in the world. Also do hope the online mode with bots can allow you to play as the survivor with the Bot controlling Michael. Always get that itch to be the survivor but again, not against someone very sweaty. I'd recommend this. Don't let most of Dbd's toxic community push you away from this game.
