This game is an pure classic

8/10 Quite possibly the best of the original half life games. It took the concepts of the original and refined them to a point that I never got frustrated at any given time. The only platforming section was decently fun and wasn't hampered by the sliding movement of the main character. And the story? Told by the NPCs in a way that was actually engaging bravo to the story writers and voice actors in this one. Gunplay felt far better than the other two as the human enemies weren't overly tanky in any regard and the friendly AI was decent backup in firefights.

Y ese final... [spoiler] un área completamente negra en la que no puedes hacer nada más que salir al menu y dejar al protagonista ahí atrapado... muy ingenioso para su época [/spoiler]

For an expansion released in 1999 by a different developer, it's still fairly long with a bunch of additional content. In Opposing Force the player has a totallly different loadout than in the base game - for instance, a new sniper rifle, heavy machine guns and a desert eagle. The enemy roster also got a few new additions. The player also has the ability to manage their squadmates, such as ordering them to go first into combat or asking them for medkits, but I rarely used this mechanic and did not find it that interesting. The gameplay loop is still the same as in the base Half Life 1, but at least the boss fights are more interesting. Definitely recommend - it's more Half Life 1, why wouldn't you play it.
