About
It's a weird time for fans of modern tank combat games. The straight-shooting simulator titles from the turn of the millennium are no more. As tank nerds, we need a game that gets right to the good stuff - modern tanks, realistic system and damage models, and a focus on fun over all.
With Gunner, HEAT, PC! we aim to make that dream a reality.
GHPC will blend game and simulation in just the right amounts, providing awesome fire control and ballistics simulation behind deceptively simple controls. This core feature set serves as the foundation for a rich single player campaign mode, skirmish missions, and (eventually) cooperative multiplayer modes: a satisfying option for every taste. And let's not forget about infantry and support units - tanks weren't built to fight alone. AI-controlled combined arms forces will round out the tactical environment and let armored units shine the way they were meant to.
We're making a great tank game because that's what we want to play.
GHPC features a fictional conflict between NATO and the Warsaw Pact in central Germany circa 1985. Play as armored units from the United States, Soviet Union, German Democratic Republic, and Federal Republic of Germany.

Very fun. Was surprised at how easy it was to pick up with little trouble. Tutorials are easy and concise and the game is very fun. Just needs MP and a mission editor now.

better than WT
If I would give this game a rating, it'd be a 9/10. The game has got a lot of high octane gameplay, and some very memorable moments. But what draws me in more is the need to think during combat. Because this game isn't a certain snail game which shall not be mentioned, you actively need to think about macro terrain alongside making sure you always have ammunition to shoot. Just rushing in expecting to get the first shot will often get you killed, but apply yourself in positioning and you will have much greater chances. That isn't to say the game is perfect however; some missions are very unbalanced, or are otherwise forgetable, especially if you are having to fight at night, during a rainstorm, against enemies with thermals at long range. But there are also plenty of really good missions. (Slight spoiler) There is a mission where you need to fend off a horde of T80s in only 2-4 Abrams', and while you do have the firepower advantage (having auto lead and good thermals) the difficulty comes from needing to manage your sabot. And there are also plenty of other great missions ranging from defense, offense, retreating maneuvers, counterattacks, you name it. So overall, the negatives from the unbalanced missions, of which you only really get a few of, are largely outweighed by the memorable gameplay that makes the core of GHPC. And with the game still being in development, it's not a gamble to say it has extreme potential.
Frustratingly close to being an exceptionally good game to just play. There's a good amount of missions currently in the game, with the mission customizer you can sink a lot of hours just toying around with the scenarios. Devs are actively working on adding core features from the roadmap with some real promise. However there's so many frustrations that really add up over time. AI teammates are terrible at keeping up with you, Even with stabilizers there's no firegating to actually let you *hit* things on the move which take the legs out of from under all the fire control systems. WhileAI ifv's will stop to fire their ATGM's they wont hold still to guide ATGMs which leaves them useless if they spot things on the move, and the aforementioned problem with firegating even with stabilizers means the AI can't be reliably trusted to engage anything from other than a complete stop. Even with the ability to customize mission planning there's no ways to configure a halt-to fire. I understand that radian is a small team and they are working practically full steam on core features like an actual campaign, more content in missions and further infantry features, that core thing that sets GHPC apart, the FCS modeling, is frustratingly half-implemented.
So while I don't recommend this game I will not say its that bad. To quote the game description itself "As tank nerds, we need a game that gets right to the good stuff - modern tanks, realistic system and damage models, and a focus on fun over all" However what's fun is subjective. This game is VERY MUCH a sim game to the point that if your tank get tracked its over as you have no option to repair it, which while kind of realistic, its the no option part that isn't. If you are looking for a game to get away from Warthunder, but want similar damage mechanics with no BS spotting system that you can just enjoy being a tank, this isn't it. My main gripe though is the community that when ever someone brings genuine criticism or new ways of doing things, such as repair vehicles so that getting tracked isn't an lose and gives you options, it is met with obscene hostility. Just a simple suggestion of having a way to repair tracks sparks PAGES long debates and berating that would make even darksouls fans cringe. I do wish the devs the best and i will still continue to play here and there. I cannot recommend this game to a majority of people. And if you came to this game in hopes to have a warthunder like game, but without the greedy Russian snail, it is nothing like it. One day tanks fans will have a game that balances realism and FUN, without bs spotting mechanics, but that is not today.
Best tank game on Steam as it stands. Tank models are beautiful, the armor simulation is great, and the developers do their best to uphold realism without making it feel like a training sim. Only complaint is the lack of variety in the content, but it is in early access.
Bit of a mixed bag, the game itself runs really well after they (finally) fixed performance. Visuals are solid, audio is great and realism is adhered to really well. However: AI is pretty stupid missions are all pretty meh, all same environment, same goal, just go drive at the enemy and shoot them. Its only fun to pick up once in a while Despite this, the developers have made consistent, meaningful progress in terms of new content and features since I first bought the patreon early access so im very excited for new content, especially multiplayer. So I would say as long as you are ok with the fact that this game has pretty low replayability FOR NOW and are willing to be patient until multiplayer support is added, then the devs are certainly deserving of your support.
