About

Grim Trials is a heavy metal action roguelite where you craft and customize your own weapons and equipment to embrace Death your own way.
Play as Avelin, a young woman who has met an untimely end, and found herself recruited as one of Death’s many Reapers. Tasked to hunt down impure souls, face her demons, and fight her way through an underworld of her own making, Avelin must endure these trials to become a full-fledged Reaper and see her still-living love once again.

Endless hex-grid arenas filled with monsters, traps, sinful souls, and 7 sacrilegious bosses await. Slay them all with a variety of customizable scythes, crossbows, and powerful Blessings from the Gods of Death around the world. Master the scythe and crossbow to maximize damage to your foes with a unique combat system that rewards clever use of your dual-wielded weapons.

The spoils of battle are the tools of your trade. Gather materials from the battlefield and work with your mentors in the arcane arts to craft new and ever more powerful weapons, armor, and consumables.

Every reaper carves their own path! Mix and match your crafted equipment with skills gained from investing in an expansive skill tree at the start of every run, then choose carefully from the randomized Blessings you obtain mid-run to create powerful builds!

Explore The Academy, built for the training and arming of Death’s various Reapers. Seek enlightenment from mentors, take on quests to build your relationships, and unlock sage advice, knowledge, and powerful support from your peers. Learn the stories of the dead by interacting with the Academy’s denizens.

Coming of age in the afterlife was certainly not the plan, but dying means little to the already-dead, and love unyielding wields power no god can rival. Every time Avelin falls in battle, the experience and materials you’ve earned stay with her. Live, fight, die, then live again, over and over until the promise is kept.

A fun short game. The blessing list feels a little small, but most of the cool stuff comes from the gear you make. Monster drops are pretty generous so failing the crafting minigame isn't too punishing and stocking up on potions doesn't feel too grindy. The art style is nice and there's a good bit of dialogue to read. P.S. The Reaper Crossbow is goated interrupting enemy attacks with it made the way to the boss much easier
Been a while since I played a roguelike that actually pulled me in, and **GRIM TRIALS** is one of the freshest releases I've tried lately. There’s a surprising amount of customization here, with plenty of options to build around and experiment with. It really lets you find your own playstyle instead of forcing you into one specific way of playing. Personally, I’m a huge scythe enjoyer, so naturally I went straight for the fast-paced, aggressive playstyle. And man, it feels GOOD. The music deserves a special mention too. It’s straight-up rock and roll, and somehow it makes every fight feel even more intense. I also really like that there’s more to the story than just smashing through enemies. Each character has their own things to discover, which gives me a reason to keep playing and learn more about them. And finally, the most important feature of all: **YOU CAN PET THE DOG AND THE CAT.** 10/10. No further questions.

Really fun game, reminds me a bit of Hades. It's shorter but adds a fun gear crafting aspect to it. There's a QTE event which is a different spin and adds a little bit more during the crafting process. You sometimes get stuck in the terrain and get stuttering but overall, I would recommend picking this up if you enjoyed the Hades games.
To be honest, I hardly ever play action roguelikes like this, but based on my first four hours of gameplay, my first impression is pretty positive. It’s really fun to play and surprisingly addictive. The music is also amazing—I love it. Things I was satisfied with:

Music, enemies, and environments: These are all amazing and really add to the overall experience.
Crafting mechanics: Simple, useful, and enjoyable to use.
Character design: I especially like Brione. She’s cute.
Skill tree: I really like how flexible the system is. Since you can reset your skills and invest the points elsewhere depending on what you need, it gives you a lot more freedom to experiment with different builds.
Things I wasn’t satisfied with:

Questlines: They are pretty straightforward and easy to complete. Most of them feel very direct and don’t require much effort or exploration.
Boss fights: Surprisingly, I found some bosses easier than the regular mobs. Their attack patterns are fairly easy to learn, which makes the fights less challenging. In some cases, you can figure out the pattern and defeat the boss on your first try.
Overall difficulty and exploration: I’m not saying the game itself is easy, but clearing each room felt relatively manageable. I didn’t even need to bring or use any potions for the first three bosses, so a deathless run definitely feels doable.
Overall, I’d give the game a 4/5. It’s a pretty good game so far, and I’ve had a lot of fun with it.
Another roguelike title that has unique idea and fun gameplay. Been trying this game for a few hours and so far it's fun and entertaining. If you like Hades type of game and wanna try another one that has similar theme, this one might be for you to accompany your weekend light gaming session!
Entrei no Grim Trials só pra testar. Erro meu.
good music, good gameplay, overall a good game. i struggled a bit at first (mainly because this is my first ever roguelite game lol) but nonetheless my experience with this game went well and smoothly once i've got the grips. you're gonna need a bit of time mastering the crafting mechanics (and a little bit of luck) but it's rewarding.
Vamos lá, vou arganizar em tópicos porque se não eu escrevo um livro. Além de falar de mais, escrevo demais... PROS -Trilha sonora excelente (o que pra mim é ainda mais positivo do que o comum); -Estilo de arte agradável, e todos os equipamentos mudam visualmente no personagem, o que não é muito comum em jogos 2d mesmo nos dias de hoje; -Combate rápido e fluido, a possibilidade de trocar a direção do ataque durante o tempo de execução eu achei interessante; -Embora não seja o foco, o texto do jogo sobre as motivações e sobre a vida anterior da Avelin são bem interessantes e por vezes reflexivos, por vezes nos fazendo pensar em coisas que nós mesmos fazemos; -Armas diferentes realmente funcionam de maneira diferente. Algumas empurram, outras stunam, etc, a distância e formato de alcance são diferentes, bem como os especiais; -Tradução em PT-BR está MUITO BOA!!! CONS -Obrigatoriedade de usar certos equipamentos para completar algumas quests, mesmo que a pessoa não goste ou não queira usar. Não fazer algumas dessas quests não te dá a receita de equipamentos novos; -Forjar materiais em uma mesa e itens em outra. Poderia ser tudo no mesmo lugar, alternando abas pra não precisar ficar decorando qual item tu precisa pra forjar a arma ou armadura nova;
