3/10 The game tries its best to imitate Game Dev Tycoon and it does it poorly. It has a few touches of its own but they are BAD. And not fun, not recommended. it's kinda bear bones you can't mix genre, you can't put a description for your game, you can't customise your office, you can't upgrade your PC to make better games, it dosen't realy have replayablility, sadly I accidently left the game running so I can't get a refund, but this is def the worst game dev sim I have played, It just feels like it is missing a lot.
Game runs perfectly smoothly. Unfortunately there are more minuses than plusses, and game can be easily beaten in 2-3 hours. Game is not bad, but it can be seen that they did not have enough time and resources to polish it, and some design decisions are... strange. One example - you cannot import knowledge from the old save/game to the new one. Yes, it makes game easier in the future but it is better than guessing every time. There is also no feedback. I got matches perfectly and stars okayish, and it gave me 5 star rating out of 10. Other time with similar way I got 10 stars out of 10. Why? No idea both times. There is almost no enough time to do all research (genres), and you have to rush it for achievement. Amount of research is also... vey barebone. I guess research just gives more stars to the game and nothing else, you just put "VR headset support" in every game regardless of genre. Or "Day and night change" in every imaginable game too. I bought game for 0,99 and got enough fun out of it to justify purchase. For 10 Euros? No way, I would be very unhappy.
The best that I can say that it is Game Dev Tycoon at home. But it is extremely cheap for around 2$ last time I checked and sales decrease it to 69 cents (nice). This is a fine alternative to Game Dev Tycoon if you want to be even cheaper, it is fun though. I do not like what the future looks like though as the last dev log was last year.
Es uno de los juegos más aburridos, sin inspiración, sin alma, sin intención, que he podido "jugar". Es tan vacío y carente de dinámicas de jugabilidad que no me puedo explicar cómo alguien llegó a considerar esto un "juego". El tiempo que le he estado mirando es para ver si es que en el momento de llegar a tener una oficina más grande algo diferente habría, al tener un segundo dev, alguna dinámica que no sea crear juego, tipo, característica, esperar, ganar dinero, volver a empezar. Ni siquiera se tomaron cinco minutos para darle al jugador una motivación para hacer algo. Un minijuego, un desafío, nada. Por fortuna lo compré en rebajas y lo compré a precio de una galleta, pero al menos una galleta tendría un mejor sabor.
This might be the best game-making simulator I’ve ever played. Even though I’ve already unlocked every achievement, I’m definitely going to keep playing. It feels like there is still so much to discover in this game. I’ve put in nearly 9 hours (8.8h) just today, which says a lot about its hook factor, even if it's too early to judge the long-term replayability. Had I known it was this good, I would have gladly paid full price. I’ve played a lot of management sims, including the more famous Game Dev Tycoon, but I have to say: Game Builder Tycoon actually feels much better to play. While other games in the genre can start to feel a bit stiff or clunky after a while, this one stays engaging and fun. The gameplay loop is smoother, and it just feels less "heavy" in the long run. If you’re looking for a game development sim that hits the sweet spot between depth and playability, I highly recommend this one! Pros: - Engaging Mechanics: Game development isn't just about allocating time; you also have to balance focus across various sub-categories. - Logical Research: The research system makes much more sense compared to similar games in the genre. - Clarity: The post-release reports are very clear and helpful. - Streamlined Creation: The overall process of creating a game is simple and intuitive. Cons: - UI Issues: There is no "Back" button in the game creation window. - Balance: You can "spam" the same game type repeatedly to win, which feels like an exploit. - Financials: The financial reports are a bit too shallow/narrow. - Lack of Variety: No option for multi-genre or multi-theme games.
