Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Every market we collect.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Sep 8 → 0.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Add-ons
Each DLC is estimated with the same model as a game, then summed — a modeled figure, not reported DLC sales.
Sums Steam only; Xbox, Epic publish no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

Build ids and update times come straight from Steam's PICS — the same source SteamDB reads. Patch history grows as we record new builds.

Galciv 2 was more fun. Invasion works really weird in this game. You need legions which you only get one time from researching planetary invasion and from training citizens into generals. They are a difficult resource to get. The AI does not spread legions on its worlds, so as long as you defeat ships in orbit you can instaconquer any world which instantly completely flips to your side after which you can lift of your fleet and repeat. You can conquer any ai empire in a few turns this way. If a planet does have legions it becomes almost impossible to conquer. As then the population is suddenly allowed to help fight against the invasion. Minor races. Which were introduced in a dlc and which do nothing except have a world, never have legions. Meaning you can build a single troop transport and conquer 4 to 5 worlds for free. Population will also instantly transform to your race. Some artifacts are broken too allowing a single one of your fleets to reach ridiculous defense values. The AI will hate you if you are weak and attack you all the time. It will become docile if you are strong and gladly let you conquer it. Trading is difficult as all ai hate it if you trade with an enemy of theirs and pretty much all AI hate eachother. Ship combat is visually unimpressive. Micromanagements is a hell in this game. Also because the gui is laggy and slow.
I have played loads and loads and loads of space strategy games since the 80s and this game frustrates the living crap out of me. I cannot recommend this game at all and have always had issues with Galactic Civilizations series. Does not matter what i do, the approval rating drops on the planets so fast and i keep getting rebellion and lose planets. I have never had this problem on any other game. i do not know if this is intended or bug but this just made me rage quit and will uninstall and never play any GC game again. I am pulling my hair out and have no idea how to stop the approval dropping and it takes forever to research buildings to try and push up appoval. Anyway done with this game and cannot recommend this game. Also, I tried playing a bit more and then the AI hit me with wave after wave will loads of ships, so AI is clearly cheating even on Normal and its so obvious, one planet versus my 3 planets and still pump out loads of ships. Nope this game cheating and not good at all. My first time playing GCIII and will NOT be buying no 4.
It's the Civilization franchise in space. I would recommend this game if you love Civilization and want to play a space version without having to bother with a tutorial or any form of learning curve. Edit: There is a small learning curve on improvement placement; You may want to lookup a quick Youtube video on that, or just figure it out as you go like I did. :)
This game is just not good in singleplayer. The AI is just absolute trash. It's probably not good in multiplayer either, but I wouldn't know.
One of the best Space 4X games I've ever played. Reminds me a lot of one of my all-time favorite space 4X games, Master of Orion.
It feels like an awful, slow, and annoying trap.
