Gacha Fever is a fun bullet heaven game that looks so colorful and has many things to unlock. Completion takes around 18h and the hardest achievement is to finish a run without moving. There are around 4 different stages with different monsters and bosses. You will choose between those based on the current bonus for each stage. For some you get more money, for others more experience and some allow you to buy items instead of weapons. It also allows you to craft items at the end of the stage if you have own the right items to make that new item. I always tried to end a run on stage that gives more money, as you need a lot of money for the upgrades. The money you use to buy weapons is the same currency to buy the upgrades. So after finishing a run, I kept playing endless mode but without buying weapons and things anymore to rank up as much gold as I could to buy new upgrades after I died. Gacha Fever has many characters you will unlock while playing and many many weapons. Most of them are good and it is nice to combine those that use the same stat so you can focus on increasing that specific stat. The only weapon I really disliked were the boxing gloves, as they warp you toward an enemy and that is just annoying. There are many areas on the gound that will hurt you and it ignores all of that and just warps you in the middle of those if the closest enemy is standing there. I love bullet heaven games, they are so addictive and you always have those small goals to work toward. However, one thing I wish that would change in this genre in general is that games don't explain themselves. For example, I thought at the end of each level you collect a bunch of money/experience that was laying on the ground. I thought it was just all of them, but I learned through the Steam forums that it is only the part that is close to you. Another thing is that the main menu of this game shows a leaderboard, and I saw myself rising on it... how I did do that...? I have no clue. A number behind my name increased but what that number represents.. I have no idea. One last thing I would love to see is controller support. I love to play this type of game with my Xbox controller and the Steam page says "partial controller support" but the game didn't recognize any inputs from my Xbox controller. The achievements in Gacha Fever are very straightforward. Beating the different bosses at least once, and getting each hero to level 70 (so for this you don't have to complete a run, just get to level 70). I would recommend farming coins very early on to buy permanent upgrades and then play on the second difficulty as that will help you to unlock more items/heroes faster. And at the end of each run, play endless mode while going for stages that give you extra money. Stop buying weapons and just farm that money ^^. The hardest achievement is the achievement "Don't move" where you can barely move, which is a challenge with all the area of effects will be laying on the ground. I did move like 2 times one step when being so close to finishing a level and just had to move out of an area of effect. This didn't lock me out of the achievement but no idea how much you're allowed to really move. BTW this achievement unlocks after finishing a run, so I thought I had failed but gladly kept standing still until I died in endless mode. If I had known it would only unlock when finishing a run I wouldn't have gone for endless mode and maybe already had it earlier but started moving again after stage 15 when it didn't unlock? I had a lot of fun playing Gacha Fever and unlocking all the achievements. It is an addictive game! I give Gacha Fever 4 out of 5 stars. positive critical· bar length = how often the theme comes up
Let me start of with: It's fun, but Once you get into the gameplay, the core gameplay loop is pretty fun. You buy weapons, kill enemies, level up, upgrade weapons and repeat. In its core mechanics, this is just yet another Vampire Survivors clone. Or rather, this is a clone of HoloCure minus the Vtuber theme. If it's fun, then why do you not recommend the game? Thank you for asking, for starters, the mechanics are all over the place. There is no proper balancing and, based on my experiences, thus far, you can completely break your build by just min-maxing into one stat (say evade, for example). The designs, while cutesy, fit the theme of this game. No complaints there. However when it comes to some gameplay decisions, that is where this game falls short. Say you make it to a craft stage, the only place where you can sell weapons if you are unhappy with your current build, however it seems like you can only ever sell your two highest-level weapons. Usually if I'm unhappy with a weapon after trying it, I won't put any more money into it. Thus that entire feature is pointless. Then there's the decision to include enemies that leave behind damage circles so you have to watch your step. So far so good. There's yellow ones, which disappear a few seconds after you kill the enemy and then there's purple ones which STAY PERMANENTLY!. There are stages (for example the beach) where a wave of 200 enemies consists of 33% permanent damage circle enemies. So not only does the stage go smaller and smaller as time passes, those random enemies also die, leaving you with yet less space to maneuver in. And if you use guns instead of melee weapons, there could be a "do not touch" patch the size of half the circle by the time you go back over there. I also don't see the purpose of giving you other guns in the store when you're already maxed out on slots. Like.. why show me guns that I don't plan on using, just so I have to waste money on a reroll? Another asinine gimmick. **Edit01: I'm raising the score to a 5/10. The Dev is doing their best to actually listen and work with the community. But since the core issue, a necessary rebalance, is not yet done, I'll still not recommend the game.** For that and a multitude other reasons, I'm giving this game a 5 out of 10. It needs some serious polishing and re-balancing to raise that score.
A survivor game that is a bit rough around the edges. Multiple UI issues of showing the wrong items when hovering, little feedback as to how much items scale, strange item balance (all items are equal cost. Example of some items: "-2 life, +1% damage" vs "+5% damage, +3% movement speed"), and there's a gatcha option to get random items, but some items I would deem as cursed as they give huge downsides. Pencils for example give -25% damage dealt each, so you can brick a run pretty easily.
Fun game pretty derpy. For the price its not bad either. play it to kill time or snag it for the kids.
I totally fell in love with all the mechanics and characters i got from the "gacha", hope more people will find out about this game <3
So much content! An excellent survivors game with lots of characters, tons of weapons, and a cool items / level up system. There are a few issues with spelling or poorly explained items, but the game is very fun to play, and that's what matters most.
This is a fun Vampire Survivors type game. There's a gacha theme to it, but that's just how you choose upgrades and get new characters - it doesn't mean microtransactions. If there is a drawback, it is that the more things you unlock as you play, the less likely you are to get the things you actually want out of the gacha.
I'd like to make it clear that I vacillated between a positive and negative review, especially given that the game offers a lot of content for its low price. Unfortunately, after 7-8 hours of play, frustration set in for reasons I'll mention below, and although I tried to persevere, the game did nothing to correct the situation. The game is a "survivor-like", where you have to equip yourself with weapons and items. These items can (and must) be accumulated to form sets that consume these items (the effects disappear) to produce a new, more powerful item. A run can be summed up as defeating a few waves in a farming zone and accessing the set crafting at the end of that zone, then moving on to another zone, and so on. Crafting is limited to 3 different sets per zone, and there is a choice of 4 zones. At the end of a game, you earn xp to lvl up your account (and unlock new items, weapons and characters) as well as currency for a skill tree. At the start of the game, the choices are limited because the pool of items (and weapons) is small. That said, after several hours, especially when you reach level 30, more and more items are added and it becomes increasingly difficult to craft the sets that are useful to you, especially as the new items form new sets, but the choice of sets per zone is the same and random. I should also mention the fact that many items are very badly balanced (some with ridiculously low values, malus, or others that are too powerful and favour a particular path). So after 8-10 hours, all you'll be doing is trying to find the item you want in a huge pile of garbage. Even if you have the items, if the RNG doesn't give you the opportunity to craft the set, it's pointless. That's how the game becomes increasingly difficult, frustrating and less fun as the hours go by. Maybe I'm being too narrow-minded and tunnel-visioned about one way of playing and itemising among others? ->No, the character you choose is bound to be highly specialised in a particular path (bonus in one type, huge malus in another), and the game leaves you no choice. If you choose character A but the game only gives you items/sets B, you're out. The game does offer the choice of banning items and weapons, and banning an item that is use in a set prevents it from appearing again, but the number of ban are still too limited compared to the number of items/sets. What's more, the ban can only be applied in a run, so the game has already imposed RNG sets for the first zone before giving you the opportunity to ban them. But what about the skill tree? In a word: useless. The upgrades are too expensive and far too weak to be really useful, after 30 or 50 hours perhaps. What's more, the actual values are lower than those displayed. There's no sense of progression or power gain inherent in this type of game. Quite the opposite, in fact, and this is the first time I've seen a game that increases in difficulty and frustration by unlocking new items. Even if your run goes superbly well and you want to continue playing in infinite mode, after a certain stage (30 or 35, I don't remember), the enemies that inflicts very little dmg up to that point will suddenly cause you to lose 1/4 HP in one hit, making the slightest mistake fatal. It's really a big wall put up there for no reason, and contrary to the progressive increase in difficulty you'd expect from an infinite mode... To that, you could add a whole host of other problems (which wouldn't be a problem if the game wasn't so frustrating): -as already mentioned, the wrong values are shown in the skill tree. -numerous small bugs when playing with the mouse, clickable boxes that don't respond or with a delay. -controls not designed with the mouse in mind, especially the activatable items on which you have to click on the 1 key every 3 seconds with the same hand that is busy controlling the character. We could have used the right mouse click, which is useless. -weapons or characters that just seem too restrictive to be fun, with no powerful advantages to compensate. Notably the boxing gloves that make the character jump on enemies every few seconds with no control whatsoever, or the character that reroll your items when you pick up new ones. If there's one thing that could easily invalidate my criticism, it's the addition of an option in the codex (which lists unlocked items) to directly ban the appearance of certain items in the game. Yes, it wouldn't be balanced, but it would be a lot more fun. Maybe I'm being too hard on a small game at this price, but it's precisely because it has so much potential that I'm all the more frustrated.
gacha fever un jeu sur lequel il m arrive de gueuler mais jamais sans haine parce que ca reste un jeu fun a jouer
Absolutely worth the price. Gameplay loop is fast and aggressive, if unbalanced at times. Art design matches it well and feels very Paper Mario-esque. Characters, weapons, and items are all unlocked via account level-up gacha (surprise surprise) so higher difficulty runs feel night and day to hour 1, so mileage may very. Does exactly what it says on the box, turn off your brain and soak in the bright colors
