About
Frostpunk 2 elevates the city-survival genre to a new level. Take the role of a Steward and lead your city through a cascade of calamities taking place in a postapocalyptic, snowy setting. Build large city districts with their string of endless needs and demands. Navigate through conflicting interests of factions that populate your metropolis. As the needs of the city grow and factional power at its core rises, only you can steer the society towards an uncertain future.

The world is overtaken by an ever present winter, which makes expansion of the city the only way for the survival of mankind. In order to grow, the metropolis needs resources like coal and oil, just like its citizens require food and warmth. In Frostpunk 2, it's your job to tackle this never ending circle of supply and demand.

The number of your citizens steadily grows, making the task of governing them and satisfying their demands all the more challenging. As the Steward you will have to maneuver carefully across the interests of many groups inhabiting the city.

People of your city want to have a voice in how you run things. Each faction has its own ideology and ideas for the future, yet they also have one thing in common - insatiable thirst for power. Choose your allies in the Council Hall wisely.

Make tough life-and-death decisions as you allocate heat across your city, supported by new research topics and heat-oriented laws. Choose districts that need the most warmth with the help of the Heat Management system with a detailed temperature overlay.

The story of Frostpunk 2 introduces a multi-chapter saga set in the frozen wastes. Spanning across the life of the Steward this campaign lets you feel the burden of leadership as you take the responsibility for thousands of lives. At the same time, the sandbox mode called Utopia Builder with infinite play time leaves you room for boundless social and infrastructural experiments.

Frostpunk 2 comes with a comprehensive and versatile modding tool. FrostKit will let you create your own maps, models, and scenarios inside the game. Now, only your imagination can limit the destination your city is heading to!

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Very different from the first game but definitely fun!
This game is awesome, i do not understand the bad reviews.
La narration du jeu est vraiment incroyable, la fin du jeu est juste sublime. Une belle leçon de vie venant d'un jeu vidéo, c'est plutôt rare.

I know, I know -- guy with 200 hours in the game gives it a good review. I'll admit the name is probably a mistake, but I think it's good. I won't pretend there's no controversy. So, before my review, let's address the controversy: Why the gameplay mechanics have changed. I think this comes down to two types of gamers: Those more sensitive to gameplay mechanics, and those more sensitive to continuity. If you played the first game (especially with the DLC), it becomes clear that it can't simply be a repeat of the first. New London formed colonies. Population expanded. The city got a bit cushy. From a mechanics standpoint, what more could you actually get out of the FP1 survival mechanics? Like, actually? They stretched it fairly far with maps and DLC already. From a lore standpoint: The FP1 DLC states that the city and its newly-seceded colony survived in peace for decades. The implication is that the problems that begat FP1 survival challenges were solved. Any game repeating the same gameplay loop in a new story would be contrived, unless it was to take place in some other far-flung colony in the same time period as the original. My take: One of Frostpunk's core themes, people management, evolved into politics. Politics affect both laws and technology decisions. In this way, the game actually really makes me think about the world around me. Sometimes (like in the case of the waste repurposing facility), one group's ideas are objectively superior. Other times, they all have tradeoffs, and you have to prioritize what fits your needs at the time. Obviously, there are ways to wrangle things and try to keep people happy. However, if you consistently neglect everything a radical faction stands for, they're going to retailiate. I actually like the fact that, in spite of being radical factions, sometimes they do have good ideas, and sometimes they're the only ones with those ideas. So, Frostpunk 2 is about trying to improve and expand a city while navigating the politics of a whiny democracy. Frostpunk 2 greatly increases the scale of what you're doing. No longer do you build individual houses; you start with whole districts. You make deals with groups of similarly-minded people in the city. Sooner or later, they spawn ideologically opposed radical factions, which can be a real headache if not managed properly. Eventually, you start talking about settlements and/or colonies that can form a supply chain across the Frostland. Unlike Frostpunk 1, it takes serious issues and a lot of work to gain the Captain's authority; while technology decisions (and the group in charge of researching an idea) are yours, the city's representatives vote on any laws. You can make promises to influence votes. All citizens appreciate fulfilled promises, even if it was a promise for something they dislike. Additionally, you can research multiple versions of the same technology if you have the time. However, this isn't usually realistic until after it stops being important. AOE effects have been implemented in the game, though I think a few of them weren't present at launch. For example, there are heating hubs which (if done well) can increase the temperature of 5 districts by one. They are crucial for resource and heat management, and are available from the get-go. However, they can't stack with an existing heat-providing effect on a tile; a tile can only receive one of each possible effect. Potential headaches: Colonies introduce more cognitive load, since they operate more like a very small city in that they have their own districts and resource management. Usually, the main city supplements them with resources in my play strategy. Population size increases crime. This is pretty easy to handle at first, but after few ten thousands of citizens they won't just be satisfied with goods production anymore. Highlights: Like its predecessor, the game has legitimately good commentary about humanity. Much like in real life, some things will happen not because it's the best choice, but because a loud and influential group needed to be appeased. Protests and violence are ultimately much worse than a bit of extra resource management. Some things are very well thought out. For example, decades after implementing asbestos-based housing insulation, you'll be confronted with the (inevitable) consequences. Certain technologies have synergies with legal decisions. Overall, I have enjoyed this game, but I understand it's not FP1 and it's also not for everybody. I would give it an 8/10.
Loved the first iteration. Probably a bit more then this, but that doesnt mean this is not great game as well. Enjoying it a lot.
