About
What is the Frontier? The barely charted outskirts of known space, where everything comes down to chance: strike it rich today, end up rotting in a pirate hold tomorrow. Many come here chasing glory and fortune. We're just trying to live here. Most days, survive.
The Simurgh is a battered corvette, but the crew is top-tier.
Rob keeps us flying straight and makes sure we don't crash on landing.
Alice lives in the engine room, keeping the ship from falling apart. She can also crack a system or two when needed.
Khan knows more than the rest of us combined. We don't question it: his mission plans speak for themselves.
And then there's me — Jay. I joined them after a sentient crystal — hunted across half the galaxy — got into my head and turned my life as a simple courier upside down.
Now I have to figure out what it is, how to communicate with it and what's really happening on the Frontier while the rest of humanity looks the other way.
And you know what? We could use your help.
PLAN YOUR STRATEGY: We took the best of X-COM and Final Fantasy and stripped away unnecessary coin-flipping. Every move matters. Procedurally generated maps adapt to your past decisions, keeping every encounter fresh and challenging.
EXPLORE THE FRONTIER: The Frontier is vast and largely uncharted. Travel to worlds no one has set foot on, gather resources, earn credits, and unlock new opportunities.
GROW STRONGER: Upgrade your squad, look for better armor and weapons, and replace outdated gear whenever you get the chance. Equipment failure in the middle of a fight is the last thing you want. High-end tech is rare out here, but a skilled merc always finds a way.
CHOOSE YOUR PATH: Jay wants to survive. Johnson wants to be remembered. And what the crystal symbiont wants… no one really knows. Choose your allies and enemies, uncover the secrets of the Frontier, and shape the fate of humanity.
CHANGE THE WORLD: For 15 years, we've been building this universe together with our players. Now it's your turn to leave your mark. The first chapter of the story is out now.
So… what the hell is all this color symbolism about?

A fun story-driven turn-based tactical combat RPG set in space with a decidedly Firefly/XCOM vibe to it. I've spent about 4-5 hours with a pre-release beta version at this point, and while I can't speak to the whole game progression, I've got a sense of the combat system and general flow of play. Things I like so far: Combat - Frequent quick encounters, at times can feel a bit JPRG-like in their occurrence, but each encounter usually only takes a few minutes. Lots of gear, skill development, and depth here. I've been enjoying this quite a bit. Story - Hard to comment too much on the story yet, but so far it's functional and serves as a good framework to the combat. Game World - Factions, a mysterious crystal to figure out, a main quest, side quests, a good amount of planets, and random encounters fill the world out nicely. The game has a definite "edge of space" chaos to it, and your spaceship is pretty beat up, which directly connects the gameplay to a Firefly vibe. Stability - I did run into some bugs in the beta version I was playing, but that's pretty par for the course. Usually those things get cleaned up in the full release. If you'd like to seem more of the gameplay, I've posted a video on my YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/jh4ix8ZbFEM Overall, I'm looking forward to playing more, so thumbs up so far. Final verdict will depend on how the combat and story continue to evolve.

Frontier: Path of Shadows: My Take ! Pros: 🚀 An interesting sci-fi setting with a distinct identity. 🎯 Turn-based combat requires careful planning of movement and actions. 🧠 Strong strategic depth involving squad and equipment management. 🔀 Story choices can influence the course of the adventure. 🎲 Procedurally generated maps keep encounters fresh. BAD : ⚙️ Some elements could use a bit more polish here and there. 📖 The story and complex systems take a little time to fully master. 🔄 Some battles can feel repetitive when playing through a string of encounters. My Verdict: ⭐ Frontier: Path of Shadows is a pleasant surprise for fans of tactical RPGs and sci-fi. Its blend of exploration, squad management, narrative choices, and turn-based combat works well and keeps you wanting to continue the adventure. https://www.youtube.com/@ORBITALSIX600/?sub_confirmation=1 Gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9A7SaHqYsJM ✅ I recommend Frontier: Path of Shadows to players who enjoy space-themed tactical RPGs and games where their decisions impact the adventure. 👍 If you found this review helpful, don’t forget to leave a like !
I wasn't expecting the worldbuilding to be this important to my enjoyment. The Frontier has a very different mood from the usual heroic sci-fi setting. It feels rough, improvised and slightly lawless. People come out here looking for opportunity, but everyone understands that opportunity and danger are basically the same thing. That makes the crew a great focal point. You have a battered corvette, a small group of very different people and a job that goes completely off the rails because of the crystal. Meanwhile, you're still doing the mundane stuff that keeps a crew alive: finding resources, earning money, maintaining equipment, upgrading the squad and deciding where to go next. Then a fight starts and suddenly every choice outside combat matters. That kind of interconnected design is what I'm looking for in a tactical RPG.
The game needs polishing and more content, BUT The characters and the story intrigued me, so you - yes, yes, you - go buy this game so that we all can see how it unravels. … Please? There’s pretty solid combat btw. No fishing though.
The crew dynamic is fire. The tactical combat is the other half of the appeal, but honestly I just want to know what that crystal actually is.
This looks like a strong fit for players who enjoy tactical RPGs but also want the campaign around the battles to matter. There’s a lot going on. Exploring uncharted worlds, collecting resources, upgrading and maintaining equipment, making choices, dealing with your crew and following a larger sci-fi mystery. The turn-based combat gives you the strategic core, while the procedural elements add some uncertainty to exploration and encounters. The story also has a nice personal hook. Jay starts out as a courier caught in the wrong situation, and suddenly he’s carrying something that powerful people are willing to kill for. Alice and Rob bring their own history into the equation, which makes the crew feel like more than a collection of combat roles. For me, the combination of tactical decision-making and character-driven science fiction is the selling point.
