I have had this game in my library for quite a long time. I have played on and off but never got to the campaign, how good could it be? I was extremely surprised how the campaign has turned out so far, the dialogue is pleasant and engaging but what most impresses me is the R&D and investment strategies you are asked to apply. Regions you gain control of tend to have an optional "boost" you have to select and will impact how you play. This choice is static throughout the game so you live with it long term. But, there is also extreme flexibility in the upgrade system for your units and buildings. Think of them as toggles. Turn tech on and off. You want this tech for this mission? ALLOCATE resources towards that tech. But if the next mission you don't need that specific tech, then REALLOCATE it to another tech. This really tailors the buffs to YOUR playing style -- turtling, rushing, econ-stomp, etc. The factions are asymmetric in their play-style. Very well done. It's NOT just how units behave or perform. It's the expansion, logistics, defense and planning of it all. Having your assistant space ship in orbit is also a great addition to the game. It can be a logistics supply line or a gunship of death. Click and DRAG the minigun path. Don't individual click like I did, you'll blow your eardrums. :p If you can get past the pixel graphics and enjoy RTS with some board-game like elements thrown in, you will love this game. Also, you can pause nearly any time. If you're reflexes or eyes aren't as good as they once were, pausing makes this game so well paced. Great job. I am looking forward to updates and hopefully a sequel that keeps the charm of the game but goes for some more fidelity (units really should be way more visibly distinct and you can only do so much at this pixel count and scale.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Absolutely wonderful wave based colony defense game. Development has been steady and positive in direction. If you enjoyed They Are Billions you'll like this game. If you enjoyed TAB but hated the forced gameplay decisions, such as no saves, you'll love this game. Very much a choose your own difficulty in the best way possible.
I was that weird kid in your friend group that when we all played Age Of Empires i just built a big defensive castle and never went to attack. i friggen love this game
An incredible horde defence RTS. The value/price ratio is insanely good. It already has more content than any other game of its style (except maybe the campaign, that's still being worked on). I would have easily paid 2 or 3 times this much for it. Since I only have good things to say about it and gushing for another few paragraphs would be boring, I'll list some of its features that might catch your attention:

Pause and game speed control. You can issue commands while paused.
There are currently 3 factions (one of them is still in beta, but they're playable and feel almost complete). Each faction also has variants, for example the general human faction has a flamethrower themed subfaction that has some unique units and buildings. They all play fairly differently, I enjoyed most of them.
There are multiple enemy factions. The goo plays like a typical zombie/zerg faction. The rogue AI feels much more challenging due to its many ranged units. There's also a third one being worked on.
There are unlockables, you get points to unlock them when you finish a game. Some of them are general buffs, others can alter your strategy in meaningful ways. If I remember correctly most of the subfactions need to be unlocked (through gameplay) as well.
The economy of the factions are very different. I enjoyed learning to play with all of them. The mechanics of the basic human faction are easy to get into. Meanwhile the mechanics of the robots took me some time to figure out, but then they quickly became my favourite faction (maybe even across games).
All factions are designed in a way that the layout of their buildings will form a visually cohesive base. For example the robots use heat and computation power mechanics and their final bases will look like something out of an AI dystopia setting. (Lightning transporting power, big computation towers, fields of warehouses, long walls dissipating heat.) I honestly think the developer is a genius for being able to make this work.
There are multiple gamemodes:

Survival: the basic gamemode, survive until the last wave, there are multiple maps, requiring different approaches to victory (some of them are randomized, others fixed).
Something I'd describe as a "short random campaign". You pick a faction and an enemy, play multiple randomized matches and pick powerups/modifiers between games. The enemies also get modifiers. The last match features a boss. Basically a string of survival maps with powerups.
Story campaign (not yet complete if I'm not mistaken).
There's also a "destroy all enemy spawners" gamemode that requires more offence than the general survival mode.

Multiple difficulties for all maps (hardest difficulty is actually hard, but doable). If you prefer shorter or longer games you can also set the length of the match.
Multiple paths to victory. You can focus on the offence and expand early, or you can dig in and tech. You can focus on your ship, or basically ignore it and still win. You can use turrets for defence or units. All of these work and you're not handicapping yourself for trying to make them work.
Unit control and positioning is really easy. You can select your units, draw a line and they'll line up along that line. Very easy to defend choke points this way.
The only complaint I can think of is if you're not using the above mentioned line draw for positioning, sometimes the units end up walking in place which prevents them from attacking. There's an attack move command that alleviates this though.
Hands down one of the best games I've ever played. So much replayability, several modes. Depending on your choice of captain, the game takes a different turn every time. Well balanced difficulty settings. Scratches both the base building and the tower defense/rts itch. In it's current state it's amazing, can't wait to see how it evolves. Btw I was on the fence about it after watching the videos, then I got it as a gift from a friend and boy...was it a good one :)
This is one of the best games i've ever played and single handedly re-ignited my love for RTSes in a way that I did not even think was possible. Its the first RTS i've looked forward to the next campaign updates. Plan to return to after playing. Thought about making mods for. Try out all the new features of... everything. Its worth your money as it stands. It'll be worth it more later if the progress is anything to indicate. I will play every update and buy every DLC. Its a game that makes you constantly think about whether what you're doing is the most optimal way of actually doing things, similar to factorio. But its pace can be frenetic enough to satisfy the same quick thinking that starcraft 2 demands.
Would like to say, What a work of ART. I do not write many reviews but this has got to get one. I have been plying RTS games since they fist appeared back in the 80s . First RTS was a game called HERZOG ZWEI on the SEGA PLAYSTATION BELIEVE IT OR NOT. RTS were big back then. Brings back old memories of those good times. I just love how you perfected just about everything. Very tuff game but so worth it. Just the detail and movement of items is so well done . Very innovative and fun to play. TY KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. Can not wait to see any further RTS games made
This game is extremely well designed, super engaging, and oozes character in a way I rarely see in other games. By now, it has tons of content for hundreds of hours of play. When I first directed my spaceship to commence orbital bombardment of the incoming horde with its cannons, that was a proper "oh sh*t" moment. It reminded me of the feeling I got when I saw a capital ship fire its ion cannon in Descent: FreeSpace. Fun fact: this game also has ion cannons. The developer of this game clearly gets it.
Please respect the players time. What is the reason for their to be a special bridge building, hidden away in the science tab for what reason? Just make roads built on water bridges automatically. Also no reason to block players from building in already explored areas just because you dont have a single unit there to see it. Its tedious to setup 30 units spread all out over the map just so you can see enough to build your base. If i explore an area i shoulden't need to backtrack and move my units away just to build because they are 1 tile outside of vision so oopsies cant play the game anymore. Tedious, and disrespectful of the players time.
Best-in-class for the genre that is starved for titles! Tower defense, city builder, real time strategy - yes. While still early access at the time of writing, FGTG is far deeper than many with a campaign, standalone 'operations' missions, and the pinnacle of all the survival mode that is the main draw. There are Hero units that provide abilities for themselves, your units, your buildings, and your economy that you unlock as you play and can select from freely after on future missions, each feels unique enough to justify a few runs with some entirely changing core gameplay mechanics and loops entirely - not to mention the selection of 'motherships' you can choose from to provide boons to your terrestrial team while requiring warding off invasions and generating research, there are a ton of bones in this game and they are surprisingly strong. If you like Starcraft, They Are Billions, SimCity (With Disasters On), or building your own maze for a TD - this game is worth your time!
