The city of Vahrin found itself overwhelmed by a swarm of the grotesque, insect-like creatures known as khraiax.
In response, many of the Free Cities, united under the banner of the Combined Order, sent their armies to confront this terrible threat.
But victory was not to be theirs, for while the khraiax stood little chance against the might of the combined forces, a far greater danger rose from beneath the city’s streets.
Vahrin’s king lies dead, along with thousands of soldiers who marched to the city’s aid. Now only its most stalwart defenders remain, desperately fighting to reclaim their beloved home.

Vahrin’s Call stands as its own complete tale, yet it forms just one part of a sweeping epic narrative that spans nations and continents.
What begins as smaller, isolated struggles becomes part of a greater saga, where every character’s trial, every kingdom’s war, and every act of courage or betrayal weaves the tapestry of the unfolding story throughout the world.

I have 100% this game and honestly it is pretty fun! The story is pretty straightforward and does the job. Where the game really shines is finding the collectibles, the environmental storytelling set pieces, and puzzles and some quests that actually require thought! These puzzles are logical and not Gabrial Knight levels of obtuse either! For those wondering about the playtime, the game took me about 25 hours to complete, I didn't quit out fully and it was on the ESC menu for a couple of days. It will be cool to see what they do if they expand the game or what they do in a sequel!
Good.

At the time of writing this review, I had played roughly 20 hours of Vahrin's Call, entirely offline, and am now on my second playthrough after realizing I had rushed through the game up to and through Chapter 7 far too quickly. If you enjoy brutally difficult games and thrive on overcoming frustrating encounters or seemingly impossible sections, then this game probably isn't for you. Likewise, if you're expecting something akin to a root canal without anaesthetic, even the highest difficulty won't deliver. I'd describe it as a "cosy" Dark Souls instead (I've logged around 2,500 hours across that series). Combat never felt particularly demanding, and I never encountered anything genuinely frustrating. Death carries virtually no penalty beyond enemies respawning—you keep all your loot and never have to (tediously) retrace your steps to recover it or re-explore the same area again to open the same chest - again, for like the tenth time. Whether that's a strength or a weakness ultimately depends on what you're looking for. Personally, I consider it one of the game's strengths. These days I rarely have the time or patience for games that repeatedly erase my progress, so I appreciated the constant sense of forward momentum without major setbacks. Combat feels more like Skyrim with dodge rolls than a soulslike. The story is... well, it's there. It serves its purpose, but the world itself is the real star of the show, although I did genuinely enjoy the game's sense of humour. The controls are perfectly functional, even if they occasionally reminded me of old N64-era platformers—which, admittedly, gave me a pleasant hit of nostalgia. Performance has also been solid. I've been playing on a laptop with the graphics set to "High" and haven't run into any technical issues so far, although you'll still want reasonably capable hardware. What Vahrin's Call truly excels at is its exceptionally detailed, lovingly handcrafted world. It's packed with an astonishing number of small touches that only reveal themselves upon closer inspection—whether it's the wonderfully over-the-top death animations of
Dirks
and
Greepies
, or the corpse in a library whose blood seeps through layers of fabric across multiple floors. Loot is hidden in virtually every corner of the world, making slow, methodical exploration consistently rewarding. In fact, exploration is arguably the game's defining feature, as it plays a central role in unlocking new abilities. Every chest opened and every skill book discovered provides a satisfying little rush of accomplishment. That same slow, methodical pace also gives you the opportunity to truly appreciate the level design, which honestly deserves to be in a category of its own. Every location feels unique, with virtually no recycled environments. The environmental storytelling is logical and immersive, and every object, corpse, and plant appears to have been placed with deliberate intent. It's rare to see a game world that feels this thoughtfully constructed. If you appreciate exceptional level design, enjoy taking the time to admire meticulously crafted environmentsand the mere thought of leaving loot behind fills you with revulsion, then I can wholeheartedly recommend Vahrin's Call. The fact that I immediately started a second playthrough to experience everything I had missed should probably tell you all you need to know.
I'm only 8 hours in but I thought I'd get a review in while in the early phases. The first impression of this game was that the tutorial section is a bit dull, and it was too easy (I'm playing on the middle difficulty), and it doesn't seem immersive. I ended my first session with mixed feelings. On the second session, I cleared most of the quests in the first area, and moved on from the first town, I was looking at the moon and listening to the music, and I realized I am starting to like this game, I'm getting pulled in more. So I'm at a point now where I'm probably going to finish this game. I'm currently settling on my playstyle, I'm going to be focusing on fire magic, dual swords, traps and archery. It seems potion usage is vital so I'm predicting most builds will use alchemy. The combat reminds me of Valheim, which in turn is inspired by Dark Souls. It strikes me as a arcade-y version of Dark Souls combat. It has a certain vibe, it feels like a lot of love was put into it and it's reminding me right now of CD Projekt Red's first game, the first Witcher game. A game that a lot of people find janky, but many agree it has some hard to pin down charm, the intangibles. It has me looking forward to the next games this team makes. Some things I'm hoping for in future updates of the game - some updates for the UI, hopefully adding more icons for items. I'm also hoping that they tweak the balance, because at the moment, though I'm only 8 hours in I have a feeling a lot of playstyles will converge into one type of playstyle. Regarding the performance, I'm not encountering any problems. I've got it at 1080p and high settings, I didn't tweak anything. It's at a rock solid 60 fps most of the time with no stutters.
Fun game! you can tell the devs really cared and had passion. The game is similar to Fable or Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning.
40 dk oynadıktan sonra inanılmaz motion sickness yaşadım. sensitivityi düşürdüğüm halde ekrandaki görüntülerin dönmesi, kameranın headbop olayı çok fena. combat basit, ilerledikçe derinleşeceğini tahmin ediyorum, hiç heavy attack yapmayı beceremedim, sanırım birşeyler öğrenmem gerek veya silahta ustalaşmam. eğer yeni hareketler ustalaştıkça geliyorsa güzel mantık severiz böyle şeyleri. grafikler orta, öyle çok aman aman bir grafik olmamasına rağmen ama inanılmaz enerji çekiyor ve mesela yanda dizi vs izleyecekseniz, imkan vermiyor, bilgisayarımı fena kasıyordu, sanırım optimizasyon problemi var, pc özelliklerim aşağıdadır. skyrim gibi olsun, az gezem diyosanız alın oynayın, ama bu kamera olayından dolayı ben tavsiye etmiyorum.
Is not a heroic game, or even your own adventure. But you get to clean dungeons, and you think somewhere in the world is the hero, but is not you.
this game pretty gub
NOT an action rpg at all. Its VERY slow and extremely clunky mechanics.
I like it
