About

Lead nomadic families through the Stone Age in this turn-based 4X strategy game with deeply simulated characters, cultures, and ecosystems. Explore the vast wilderness, gather and trade scarce resources, and stand your ground in risky autobattler combat. Discover fire, domestication, politics—and survive to tell the tale.
Experience what prehistoric life was like by diving into this exploration of ecology, paleolithic societies, and the origins of culture.

Before agriculture and settlements, we spent hundreds of thousands of years as nomadic hunter-gatherers. Guide your people as you migrate through harsh climates, each posing unique challenges.

Manage the relationships between individuals, families, and tribes. Watch your collective adapt over countless generations. Beware the unintended consequences current choices can have on your great-great-great-grandchildren.

Optimize your strategy before each autobattler skirmish, because a warrior is not just a warrior. When one falls in combat, the tribe loses not only a fighter but also a skilled hunter, family member, and carrier of hard-won wisdom passed down through the ages.

Hunt, gather, and extract resources from the ecosystems around you, but tread carefully: nature is ruthless and you are at its mercy. Maintain the natural equilibrium or face sudden and unexpected challenges.

Technology: a tech tree spanning the Pleistocene up to the start of the Bronze Age, covering skills from controlled fire and cooking, through domestication and agriculture, all the way to megalithic construction and the first cities.
Culture: shape your tribe’s unique culture, with evolving cultural norms that differentiate you from your neighbors, affecting trade and war.
Economy: resources are finite and their extraction affects the environment.
Ecology: 9 unique climates, each with a complex and dynamic food web.
Procedurally generated Earth-like maps based on realistic climate simulations.
Many generations of deeply simulated individuals with heritable traits, all affecting various game systems.
Narrative events that can alter the trajectory of your entire tribe.
Social Networks: Dynamic social network visualization, enabling a new way to understand and manage family trees and relationships between members of your band.
Diplomacy: trade, fight, or collaborate with other tribes.

I've tried and loved the demo so I bought this gem day 1 ! I was hooked by it's nice new mechanics : the foraging in the food web, the evolving environment, the roaming gameplay without borders, etc... I played most of Civs (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th... but not 7th) and other 4X but I was searching for new things. I'm glad I found Folk Emerging :) Runs are a few hours short so if you don't have much time to spend, you may still enjoy this strategic civ-unlike game ;) I feel this is too short but I hope for some future ? And last (but not least) : I had a Warcheif called Ducon (which, in french, means ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) XD
I like it!

It's a solid, fun game with some unique gameplay in the 4X space.
I've been waiting a long time for a game like this and this one does not disappoint. The one thing I'm not a huge fan of is the lack of consequences from combat. I feel like you should lose more people from both winning and losing. Maybe that's by design though. Either way I think this game is worth it and I hope it continues to be updated.
Fresh take on turn based strategy. Glad I found it. Love the migrating aspect of the bands (cities in 4x games) and world setting (bronze age is very interesting topic to me). You cant expect civ level of complexity, but it sure is fun to roam the map and look for a place to eventually settle. With som skirmishes along the way and tinkering the food/happiness/military/items aspects of each band, it gave me enough agenda for each turn, but never overwhelmed me with tons of things to do like in bigger 4x games, where you later on need to manage miriads of things. - dont get me wrong, I love complex games, but this one is very dynamic/fast and I found I personally like it very much. My only cons was that sometimes, it seems too short to me - when I finaly reach interesting stuff like bronzeworking or urbanization, i usually already win, so no point in doing them. But recent (16.9.2026) update may have addressed this issue - haven't tried it out yet. My suggestions Maybe add some brutal event on turn 100/200 (or sometime in late-mid/late game), that will hinder empire in terms of population. This event even can be customized in game setup menu - this may prolong the game and encourage the player to utilize late game tech more - ie. - some special "ice age", that will half your population globally accross bands or something similar, that will give us oportunity to properly play with late game tech... Some scripted events of some "sea people" raid - that will force you to focus on military side of thing in late game. Give them proper randomized army composition that will test players ability in military terms. As of now, I seldomly find usage for defensive structures or urban tiles - they are not necessary to win, and on hardest diff I usually have to skip them in order to keep up with score - focus on festivals instead. In regards to military, I think there is also scouting/mobility problem - lot of times I wanted to attack strongest tribe to ensure victory, but It takes a lot of time to localize them if you are unlucky (or resort to save scumming..). Maybe sharing map info should be a good thing to add to diplomacy? Or some scouting thing. I know horses can help, but forests are still one tile per turn. There is also a trading exploit - I can trade 20+ wood for items, then wait until AI band moves -> wood will be over their limit, so it stays in place and I ll recolect the traded wood back. Maybe consider adding check for AI tribe to not go over their carrying capacity when trading... TLDR: As of now, I am missing challenge. Dont take me wrong, it took me some time to master this game and I loved it, though my hearth crave for more :)
Not worth the money. It gets stale really fast.. A lot of stuff seems to not make a difference whatsoever (people Stats for example). The combat has some quirks (why do the archers need to make a step forward and lose a turn when fighting a melee char ?)
