For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Best wrecking and racing game for all the experienced racists.
Overall: 7.5/10

Story:
Just like the first game, this one doesn't have a narrative/story. However, rather than the campaign being divided into three quality rankings (that of course being Bronze, Silver, and Gold Leagues), the career mode here is instead sorted into car classes: Derby, Race, and Street. I personally prefer this over the first game because not only does it give the gameplay more variety thanks to the different types of vehicles, but also progressing from beat-up junkyard scrap-buckets to sleek, street-tuned sports cars gives the whole career mode a much more satisfying "grind to glory" kind of vibe. Still though, the campaign provides no cutscenes, scripted events, or personal motivations explaining why you're racing. However, instead of faceless drivers like in FO1, you're now competing against a recurring roster of AI opponents. They don't interact with you or push any sort of story forward, but they do serve as familiar rivals throughout the career for you to naturally build your own personal beef with/target for payback whenever you get the chance. On an actual technical level though, the progression is still very straightforward. You buy and upgrade new cars, earn cash/championship points across various cups and tracks, and gradually unlock new events within whichever class you're currently competing in. It's still a purely gameplay-driven experience with no real narrative to speak of, but I do think the previously mentioned points give it just enough personality to feel more engaging than the original.
Gameplay:
The gameplay isn't inherently different from the first game, but there are definitely a lot of changes, the most significant of which being the handling, for sure. Where the cars in FO1 are more grounded, have noticeable weight, and are harder to throw around corners, the gameplay here takes on a far more forgiving, arcade-style approach. It's a noticeable difference that 100% comes down to personal preference, but the driving in this game is straight up way more accessible, no matter how you paint it. Additionally, this game is generally a lot more forgiving than in the first game. There's still aggressive AI rubberbanding to keep races intense throughout the whole track, but it's not nearly as ridiculous here, so other racers end up feeling like a fair but tough challenge rather than feeling like they're outright cheating. Furthermore, hitting objects doesn't flip you/slow you down nearly as much, it's a lot harder to get flung from your car after crashing, and using the reset button to place you back on the track actually places you proportionally to where you were in the race rather than putting you in dead last for having the audacity to use the mechanic. Next, I love the swap from bronze, silver and gold leagues to instead be three different general car classes/groups because it provides a lot more variety and replay value since they all handle and behave differently rather than being variations of derby-style smashers. Each class feels distinct enough that moving between them can actually change how you want to approach the races, which gives you more of a reason to experiment with different cars instead of just picking whichever one has the best top speed or acceleration. Lastly, this game vastly expands on the "Silly Bonus Game Modes" aspect by introducing new game modes and refining the ones from FO1, but I still simply don't enjoy this aspect of the series, regardless of how renowned FlatOut is for them. Launching your driver out of a car just isn't the kind of content I'm into, so I won't mindlessly rag on it, but I'd still say it's done way better here in general.
World:
The world/track design has way more visual variety than the first game, and I personally think they're way more fluid and fun to drive on. The races do a great job of complementing the high-adrenaline gameplay, and there's not a lot of turns, shortcuts, etc. that consistently disrupt the flow unless you just completely crash out. The tracks generally feel much more open and naturally laid out, so you're able to carry your speed through most of the race without constantly having to slam on the brakes or deal with awkward sections that interrupt the flow. Still though, the maps here follow the same clever trick that FO1 did by just re-routing the barriers, reversing the directions, or cutting off certain paths to create a "new" track out of the exact same few settings/backgrounds. So, while there's definitely more variety in the backdrops, you're still technically driving on a new set of the same roads even if it's not always the same route, and a lot of tracks are bound to repeat after a while. It's a smart way of getting more mileage out of the environments without making every race feel completely identical, but it does become noticeable once you've spent enough time playing and start recognizing the same stretches of road being reused in different configurations.
Visuals:
I have mixed feelings about the visuals. While, yes, the graphics are technically "better" and more advanced than those of the previous game, the visuals also have this ugly, hardcoded post-processing bloom that gives the whole game a sorta, smeared, hazy look. Even worse, this game is a victim of the infamous mid-2000's piss filter, where a lot of the backgrounds have washed out, brown/amber-ish tones. FO1's simpler rendering doesn't necessarily give you more detail, but it's sharper and it provides a better color palette that's actually pleasing to look at because it lacks any major post-processing effects. You can actually see the geometry, textures, road surfaces, foliage, etc. without everything being surrounded by a layer of glowing light. In contrast, the graphics in this game attempted to have a cinematic flair that the hardware of the time couldn't really support, and like 9/10 games from that era that gambled with such aesthetics, it just hasn't aged too well. All that said, though, the graphics look BAD by any means, I'm just not really a fan of the art direction so it's unfortunate. On a more positive note, this game has been technically well maintained throughout the years, runs well at high fps, and surprisingly has ultrawide support. I also DO like how the developers chose to lean fully into the arcade-gameplay vibes and increase the visual destruction to your car, but toned down how fragile and easily disruptible the cars feel during a race, so you can continue the race with a hilariously mangled car without being constantly punished for taking damage due to driving aggressively.
Music/Sound Design:
Although the overall quality of both is pretty compressed and dated by modern standards, the music and sound design is another clear improvement over the first game. The engines have more presence, more variation, and generally sound much meatier, which makes the cars feel a lot more powerful and fitting for the much more aggressive gameplay. There's also just a lot more going on sonically because FlatOut 2 is much more chaotic with its presentation. You're constantly hearing tires sliding, cars smashing into each other, debris flying everywhere, and all sorts of other sounds happening constantly, so there's a much greater sense of mayhem during races. It's not going to "wow" you from a technical standpoint, but it does makes all of the destruction feel much more immersive. Additionally, I really like the OST. It has a much larger variety/more iconic selection of music that covers several rock-adjacent genres, and feels deliberately selected to reinforce the exaggerated, chaotic, arcade-racing presentation. Even though the audio quality itself is definitely dated, I think FlatOut 2's music and sound design hold up considerably better as an overall package because they do a much better job of complementing what the game is actually trying to be and the music rotation is simply better.

Extremely fun gameplay, legendary physics and goated soundtrack, one of my favorite games since 2009.
