Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 23: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.78/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

TL;DR: An amazing game for Final Fantasy veterans. Less suitable as an entry point for newcomers. So, Final Fantasy V... this is my second full playthrough from start to finish. The first time was on the Game Boy Advance version, and I have to admit that I didn't appreciate the game nearly as much back then as I do now. Its greatest strength is its gameplay mechanics, whether it's the Active Time Battle (ATB) combat system or the incredibly flexible Job System. Because of that, I feel this game is aimed more at longtime Final Fantasy fans. To truly appreciate and enjoy it, I think it helps to be familiar with what the series evolved into afterward. This is especially true if you're interested in taking on the challenge of the Blue Mage and collecting every Blue Magic spell. One thing you often hear is that the GBA version is superior because of its extra content. Personally, I think that extra content is largely unnecessary, especially the additional jobs you unlock at the very end of the game, when there's barely any meaningful content left to use them in. The Pixel Remaster, on the other hand, offers bug fixes, improved audio, and numerous quality-of-life enhancements that I find much more valuable. Best of all, it delivers those improvements while staying much closer to the original experience. As for the story, I think it's the weakest of the SNES-era Final Fantasy games. It's still a charming and enjoyable adventure, but where the game truly shines is in its gameplay. Ironically, that's also where the story falls a little behind. Because so much emphasis is placed on the game's mechanics and job customization, the cast doesn't have the same level of variety or depth as the characters in Final Fantasy IV or Final Fantasy VI. Overall, there's relatively little character development beyond each character's initial backstory.
Of the five Pixel Remasters I've played so far, this one felt the most polished and the most needed, and is probably the best modern way to play FFV. I read a bunch of older reviews that said the game was unplayably buggy when it first launched, but this seems to have been cleaned up for the most part. There were 3-4 instances where my controls (DualSense) locked up in combat, but I was able to jostle the game out of it with autobattle, no progress lost. The cursor also has a minor bug where it resets its position when backing out to the main menu if you have cursor memory set to "off." (...I know that seems rational, but in FF games it's supposed to return to where it was when backing out of a submenu.) --- I have the same minor complaints about the UI that I have with all the other Pixel Remasters: - The awkward coloured ovals where character names are displayed are ghastly. I would've prefered the names either above or inside the text boxes in the same font/resolution as the text. Nice and clean. - The "Classic" screen filter looks nothing like an old CRT. It's overblurred by about 500%, and the scanlines are too thick, too meek, and inconsistently spaced. To go along with this, the classic font setting just doesn't look very compelling. These problems aren't super dire, but given the retro loyalty skew these games have, and the ease of finding good references for this stuff, it comes off as pretty halfassed for a Square game of this budget. - The resolutions are all over the place. The pixel style doesn't extend to the character names over text boxes, the minimap on any of its three sizes, or the fullscreen map. This is very minor stuff, but it would've been a nice cherry on top if the illusion was completed with full finesse. - Character portraits are just the in-game sprites. There is nothing really wrong with this... but come on. Prior versions had MAGNIFICENT character portraits, even on the GBA! --- The achievement hunt here is kind of a menace, but I don't know how I'd fix it without altering the essence the of the game. A good third of the dungeons just straight up EXPLODE when you complete them, lol. It's badass, but beware of missables, especially bestiary. It's close to impossible to 100% the achievements without a guide, owing solely to one specific monster: Stringray. On the plus side, the monster list is shared between all playthroughs, thank God. --- As for the game itself: It's good. REAL good. If you've played it before, you already know it has arguably the best class system in the franchise. Every replay reveals more and more of its astounding depth to me, and even the weirder stuff, like Beastmaster, is versatile and devastating when used right. The writing is a bit weaker than I remember, especially once you hit the third act, but it gets you from dungeon to dungeon just fine, and even has some impressive emotional peaks when it wants to. The remade music is ambitious but tasteful, and sounds, to me, like what Uemastu must have been imagining in his head when writing it, before having to abide by the constraints of the SNES. The Ronka Ruins BGM was an absolute stand-out track for me, greatly improving on what was ALREADY one of the best themes in the original. Music has been consistently the strongest category across ALL of the PR games. They just nailed the absolute ♥♥♥♥ out of it, no notes. Well, this is getting pretty long, and most people who'd read an FF5 review probably don't need much explanation of what it is. If you already know you like the game, or are just curious about this version of it, you probably have enough change in your couch cushions to grab it. On sale it's practically free \o/
I like bending this game to my will... And also doing the Four Job Fiesta runs where I scream and cuss at it once every couple of years.

Probably the best version of this game. Great remaster, wonderful music as well!
its good
So far this has been my favourite FF game. Most extensive job system, cool characters, cool moments, the story is still basically evil dude wants to be evil and destroy the world for reasons, but I think it's highly replayable because of the job system. Killed omega through the power of music.
