About
FEED THE AI is a short (~3h) active incremental where you feed an evolving AI with Data and shape it into a Tyrant, Rational, or Protector.
Will your creation save humanity... or rule it?
At first, you help it. Then it starts to evolve. Eventually, you begin to feel control slipping away.
Each upgrade expands your AI’s capabilities, pushing it closer to something beyond human control.
Will it protect humanity... optimize it... or dominate it?
The AI comments on its evolution as it gains more power and control, following paths that feel uncomfortably close to where real AI could lead us.
Complete the game with each Alignment to unlock permanent additional effects through a simple Prestige system. These bonuses speed up future playthroughs, making it easier to explore every AI path and uncover the full story.

FEED THE AI is a compact incremental game built around a clever premise: gather data, strengthen an artificial intelligence, and gradually influence what that intelligence becomes. Developed and published by Weird Kid Games, it takes the familiar satisfaction of resource accumulation and upgrades and wraps it in a dark technological setting. Rather than functioning purely as an idle experience where progress happens with minimal participation, it encourages active exploration and collection, giving the player a more direct role in the AI's increasingly rapid development. The main gameplay loop revolves around navigating a shadowy digital environment in search of Data. This resource is effectively the foundation of everything that follows, as collecting more of it allows the player to purchase improvements and increase future gathering efficiency. Progress begins relatively modestly, but upgrades steadily accelerate the process. That growing sense of efficiency is one of the game's strongest qualities. Actions that initially produce small gains eventually become considerably more productive, providing the escalating numbers and increasingly powerful abilities that make incremental games satisfying. A skill tree expands this progression system by offering additional ways to improve the AI and the player's resource-gathering capabilities. AI Perks further contribute to the feeling that the machine is becoming more sophisticated as the run develops. These mechanics are not exceptionally complicated, making the game accessible even to players who rarely play incremental titles. At the same time, there is enough progression to create meaningful short-term objectives, with each new improvement bringing the player closer to the next major stage of development. The Alignment system is where the concept becomes considerably more interesting. The AI can develop toward Protector, Rational, or Tyrant paths, representing different approaches to its relationship with humanity. Protector pushes it toward benevolent behavior, Rational emphasizes calculated decisions and optimization, while Tyrant explores the consequences of allowing an increasingly powerful intelligence to embrace control and domination. These choices provide different directions for progression and help prevent the experience from becoming nothing more than an exercise in watching numbers increase. Narrative reactions reinforce those decisions. The AI communicates with the player as it develops, responding to progression and gradually revealing more of its emerging personality. Dark humor and sarcastic writing keep the story from becoming overly serious despite dealing with subjects such as technological dependence, unchecked intelligence, optimization, power, and control. There is an amusing tension in deliberately feeding more information into a system that may eventually decide it has very different ideas about humanity's future. The three alignments also provide the primary motivation for replaying the game. Completing a path does not necessarily mean everything has been exhausted, because another run can be used to investigate a different version of the AI. A Prestige system makes this structure more practical by providing permanent benefits after completing an Alignment. Subsequent runs can therefore become faster and more efficient rather than requiring players to endure exactly the same early progression at its original pace. It is a sensible feature for a game designed around seeing multiple possible outcomes. Presentation is deliberately minimalist and appropriately digital. Dark backgrounds, particles, visual effects, and abstract technological imagery create the impression of moving through a computerized network rather than a conventional physical environment. The effects also provide useful feedback when collecting resources or activating abilities. It is not a game attempting to impress through elaborate environments or realistic graphics; instead, the visual design concentrates on readability, atmosphere, and reinforcing the idea that the player is operating inside an evolving digital system. The greatest potential weakness is repetition. No matter how interesting the AI theme becomes, much of the underlying experience still revolves around gathering Data, acquiring upgrades, increasing efficiency, and repeating the process. Players who dislike incremental mechanics are unlikely to be converted purely by the narrative premise. Its relatively concise scope can also be viewed differently depending on expectations. Those wanting a huge progression game capable of consuming dozens of hours may find it limited, while players who appreciate shorter experiences may welcome how quickly it develops its ideas. Steam Deck compatibility is a notable advantage. The game is officially Steam Deck Verified, with its core functionality working through the handheld's controls and its interface remaining usable on the smaller display. Controller prompts and general navigation are appropriately supported, while the game can run using settings suitable for the device. Its viewpoint and methodical pacing also translate naturally to portable play, although demanding visual settings can still make sensible performance adjustments worthwhile for players prioritizing battery life or consistent performance. The overall package works because the mechanics and subject matter reinforce one another. Every improvement represents not only better resource production but also another stage in the development of the artificial intelligence. The player is simultaneously trying to become more efficient and deciding what kind of entity all that efficiency will ultimately create. The Protector, Rational, and Tyrant routes turn a straightforward progression loop into a small experiment about the consequences of technological growth. FEED THE AI ultimately delivers an entertaining combination of active incremental gameplay, branching development, dark comedy, permanent progression, and multiple outcomes. Its mechanics are intentionally approachable rather than deeply complicated, and repetition remains part of the formula, but the evolving AI gives the progression more character than simply chasing larger numbers. Weird Kid Games has created a focused experience that understands its scope and uses its unusual premise effectively. For players who enjoy incremental progression but want an actual thematic reason behind all that endless upgrading, it offers a distinctive and replayable diversion. Rating: 8/10

Great game! Played the Demo and the main game 3 times. The storyline is interesting but the game is too short. I wish it could be longer. DLC soon? Expansion?

A very enjoyable incremental game. I personally really liked the story element - it provides a nice pace and adds a lot of personality. Kudos to the dev for taking some risks and trying out new things within the genre - for example, I really enjoyed some of the more unexpected things that happen within the skill tree. The game doesn't shy away from throwing the occasional wrench in your works, which I found made the progression all the more rewarding.
