This has been one of my favorite games for years! its kind of the perfect dungeon crawler in my opinion.
I like fishin.
Our favorite childhood ARPG, polished up for current technology. Yeah, it's still cheaper to just buy Traitor Soul and get 75% of the franchise in one purchase, but being able to play with a sleeker UI and modernized audio feels great.
Sum-Up

In-Depth analysis further down.

[th]🟩 Pros[/th] [th]🟥 Cons[/th]

Faithful remaster that preserves the charm of the original FATE games while modernizing the visuals and interface. The story is fairly simple and mainly serves as a backdrop for the dungeon crawling experience.

Highly addictive loot progression with plenty of build possibilities and replayability. Enemy health scaling in the late game can make certain encounters feel unnecessarily long.

Excellent soundtrack that perfectly captures the relaxing atmosphere of the adventure. Dungeon environments eventually become repetitive after spending dozens of hours exploring.

Unique Retirement system encourages multiple playthroughs and gives long-term progression real meaning. Some builds feel considerably stronger than others, especially in Hardcore mode.

Excellent value, including all four classic FATE adventures in a single package. -/-

In-Depth

Premise, Setting & Writing
FATE: Reawakened brings back one of the most beloved classic dungeon crawlers, faithfully preserving everything that made the original games so memorable. Originally released through WildTangent, it introduced many players to the action RPG genre long before modern ARPGs became mainstream. Rather than focusing on an epic narrative, the game offers a light-hearted fantasy adventure with colorful characters and a charming world. The story exists mainly to support the gameplay, so players expecting a deep narrative similar to Diablo II may find it rather simple. However, its nostalgic presentation and timeless atmosphere remain just as enjoyable today.
General Gameplay
The gameplay follows the traditional action RPG formula. Explore randomly generated dungeons, defeat monsters, collect increasingly powerful loot and continuously improve your character through equipment, spells and attributes. The remaster enhances the experience with improved visuals, a cleaner interface and modern quality-of-life improvements while respecting the original design. One of the most interesting mechanics is the Retirement system. Once your hero finishes their journey, they pass their legacy to a younger adventurer, allowing permanent bonuses and a single treasured item to carry over into the next generation. It is a clever feature that encourages replayability while maintaining the excitement of hunting for better loot. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3770213963 One detail I found particularly interesting is the soundtrack. One of the dungeon themes is based on Benjamin Tissot's royalty-free track "Sci-Fi", adapted to fit the game's atmosphere. It is a great reminder that memorable game music doesn't always require an enormous budget, making it an inspiring example for aspiring indie developers.
Combat System
Combat is straightforward and accessible, placing greater emphasis on character builds and equipment than on mechanical complexity. During my playthrough I experimented with archery and magic before eventually settling on a Hardcore summoner build focused almost entirely on survivability. Using Spectral Armor as my primary defensive spell, combined with shield retaliation, life steal and Wyvern summons dealing poison damage, created a build that felt both durable and rewarding. Hardcore mode adds genuine tension to every encounter, especially during the early stages. Later on, however, enemy scaling begins to outpace player damage, causing certain fights to drag on longer than expected.
Conclusion
FATE: Reawakened successfully modernizes a classic without losing the charm that made it such a memorable adventure. The improved presentation, satisfying loot progression, excellent replayability and unique Retirement system make this the definitive way to experience the original FATE series. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3770213847 While the story remains fairly basic and the late-game balance could be improved, these shortcomings are outweighed by the addictive gameplay loop and nostalgic appeal. Whether you're returning after many years or discovering the series for the first time, FATE: Reawakened is an easy recommendation for anyone who enjoys classic action RPGs.
ts slaps, bru, it was my first pc game back when i was kid in mid-2000s, still enjoyable as ever, wish it kept the old slots tho, for purely nostalgia's sake
Good game
Cool needs still better drops faster fishing better UI and them leaving ♥♥♥♥ how it was for most part and not thinking they gonna change too much!
Classic Fate titles faithfully remastered and made more compatible with modern hardware.
Im not going to lie, im not sure where the buggy mess some people are talking about, I've been playing for a little bit and haven't came across anything that was damaging to my game, progress, or save files. Some of the sprites are weird for a split second, but its just an up-scaling problem not a game problem. I've personally having a blast revisiting Fate, back in the day on the Cursed King i hit well over lvl 80 and was walking through just about anything with my pet and summons. Thanks you for the rerelease.
Classic arpg, nostalgia is real
