This is a strategy board game of Lovecraftian macabre. Gain resources, grow your cult, stay hidden from the world, and when the stars are finally right summon the Elder God you worship. Alternatively, just eliminate the competition in an invisible war.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.

Always blocking the doors to your mind Escaping reality that surrounds you Using faith an excuse to kill A sick way of life is now revealed All the prayers in the world can't help you now A killer a taker of life is what you are Speak no more lies It's your turn to die Preach the good word Speak no more, prepare to burn A justified torture? From this may others learn The life you took a holy death, a grave mistake No changing your mind, your life you should pay Practice what you preach Your loved one is now deceased Knowledge is at our hands Never to understand Spiritual healing Blinded by twisted ways you live Kill for religion, will the Lord forgive? Idiocy has stricken your mind A real-life hell you will find All the prayers in the world can't help you now A killer a taker of life is what you are Speak no more lies It's your turn to die Preach the good word Speak no more, prepare to burn A justified torture? From this may others learn The life you took a holy death, a grave mistake No changing your mind, your life you should pay
Played it through a couple of times, It's still challenging on the hardest setting. Good basic mechanics, could do with a little more complexity. Well worth a few dollars.

A fun little game. Could use a bit more content and less reliance on RNG, in my opinion, but it's a pretty solid concept for sure.
游戏性比较差,和电脑打基本就是把握好四种资源的转换,如果和人联机对战(我没玩过)的话应该会利用到宗派的情报能力探查资源罢,不过看在是原教旨克系游戏的份上还是给个好评。
Evil Cult is a turn-based strategy game that takes the familiar idea of Lovecraftian horror and approaches it from the perspective of the people causing the supernatural trouble. Instead of surviving an ancient evil, the player controls a secret cult attempting to accumulate influence, expand its operations, deal with investigators, and ultimately achieve domination. Developed and published by StarInfidel, the game is structured more like a digital strategy board game than a conventional horror adventure, placing its emphasis on planning, resource management, and calculated decisions rather than exploration or combat-heavy action. The central objective revolves around building a successful occult organization while keeping its activities under control. Players have multiple concerns competing for their attention, including resources, cult development, subsidiary sects, hostile organizations, and investigators determined to interfere with their plans. This creates a strategic rhythm in which expansion is desirable but can introduce additional vulnerabilities. Becoming stronger does not automatically mean becoming safer, and careless decisions can leave the cult exposed at exactly the wrong moment. Victory can be pursued in different ways. Completing the Final Ritual represents the thematic route toward fulfilling the cult's supernatural ambitions, while eliminating all rival cults provides a more aggressive alternative. Having distinct victory conditions encourages players to approach sessions differently. A strategy built around steadily preparing for the ritual can demand different priorities from one centered on weakening and destroying opponents. Rival organizations consequently feel like more than passive obstacles because their continued existence can directly affect how confidently the player pursues a chosen objective. Managing sects adds another useful layer. Individual sects can be controlled directly when precise management is necessary, but an AI advisor can also handle some responsibilities. This flexibility helps prevent the administrative side from becoming overwhelming. Players who enjoy optimizing smaller decisions can remain closely involved, while those who prefer concentrating on the overall direction of their organization can delegate some work. The feature suits the game's broader design because managing an expanding secret society should feel complicated without turning every turn into excessive micromanagement. Occult artifacts further diversify the strategic possibilities. The Artifacts of the Arcane content introduces supernatural items that can influence the player's plans and provide additional advantages. These artifacts complement the setting particularly well because acquiring forbidden objects feels appropriate for an organization pursuing unnatural power. More importantly, they provide another variable to consider when planning long-term development instead of functioning purely as thematic decoration. Customization is one of Evil Cult's more valuable qualities. Custom games allow numerous variables to be adjusted, giving players considerable freedom over how individual sessions unfold. Procedural generation contributes additional unpredictability, meaning that successful strategies cannot always be repeated without adaptation. The downside is that randomized systems can occasionally create uneven circumstances, but unpredictability also strengthens replayability. For a strategy game designed around relatively abstract systems, having different situations emerge from one session to another is important. Local multiplayer provides another dimension, supporting both competitive and cooperative play. Competition is particularly appropriate because the concept of rival secret cults naturally lends itself to strategic interference and opportunistic decisions. Cooperative play offers a different experience for players interested in sharing the strategic challenge. The emphasis on shared-screen multiplayer does make the multiplayer component more situational than a fully developed online mode would be, but it remains a worthwhile addition for players who enjoy tabletop-style strategy with friends. Visually, the game favors function over spectacle. Its presentation is minimalist and focused on communicating information rather than delivering elaborate animations or highly detailed environments. A modernized interface makes the experience more approachable, while Classic Mode preserves the stark black visual style associated with the earlier version. This choice is appreciated because it acknowledges the game's history without forcing the older presentation on newcomers. Players expecting cinematic depictions of cosmic horror should adjust their expectations, as atmosphere is primarily established through concepts, mechanics, and terminology. The soundtrack adds considerably more personality to the experience. With several hours of electronica composed by Jeremy Rice, the audio gives the game an unconventional identity. Electronic music may initially seem unusual beside Lovecraftian subject matter, yet it complements the abstract digital-board-game presentation surprisingly well. The combination helps Evil Cult distinguish itself from horror games that rely exclusively on gloomy orchestral music and predictable supernatural ambience. Its biggest limitation is accessibility for players who are not already attracted to system-driven strategy games. There is relatively little visual spectacle, and the experience depends heavily on understanding interconnected mechanics and finding satisfaction in gradual strategic development. Players seeking a story-focused campaign, memorable individual characters, elaborate battles, or traditional survival horror will find those elements secondary or absent. The minimalist presentation can also make the experience appear simpler than its underlying systems actually are. Steam Deck compatibility is not officially rated by Valve on the Steam store listing, so there is no Verified or Playable badge that can be confidently assigned to it. The game is primarily designed around a traditional PC interface, and Steam Deck users should therefore regard compatibility as unverified rather than guaranteed. It may be possible to run it through SteamOS and Proton, but the absence of an official Deck rating means potential interface, control, text readability, or technical issues should be considered. Overall, Evil Cult is an interesting niche strategy experience that benefits from an unusual perspective on cosmic horror. Its mixture of resource management, sect administration, investigators, rival cults, occult artifacts, procedural variation, customizable sessions, and alternative victory conditions creates more strategic depth than its minimalist appearance initially suggests. It will appeal most strongly to players who enjoy digital board games and methodical management systems, while those seeking action or elaborate presentation may struggle to connect with it. Its strongest accomplishment is transforming the fantasy of operating a forbidden secret organization into a collection of interconnected strategic decisions. Rating: 6/10

Nice little game with a very good soundtrack. Works well if you need something to keep you occupied during a lunch break.
Having played the free online version, I thought this would be the new and improved version. It is new, I guess. Some thoughts: - the node icons obscure the game play - I'm playing fullscreen on a large monitor and I can barely see what I'm doing unless I'm zoomed way in, and even then it's not easy - dark mode (or classic mode like the free online version) would be easier on the eyes and would also assist with the above issue re colour display and contrast - for the love of God, please let me toggle off the tutorial prompt!
