About
Almost five hundred years of history unfold before you in Europa Universalis V, the latest version of one of the greatest strategy games of all time. Guide the destiny of any of hundreds of nations and societies in a simulated living world of unparalleled depth and complexity.
Europa Universalis V builds on the franchise’s core concept of developing and advancing nations from around a deeply researched historical world, adding more detailed diplomacy, a more sophisticated economic model, a revised military system and greater logistical depth that will challenge even the most experienced strategy gamers.

RULE a land of your choosing. Hundreds of nations are yours to command, as you guide the destiny of millions of people through the late Middle Ages up to the Age of Revolution - from the mighty Yuán Dynasty to the city-states of Italy, from the warring clans of feudal Japan to the Pope himself.
DECIDE which course your nation will take. Historical events and situations await as you chart a unique path through a new history written by your decisions. Experience The Hundred Years’ War, the Protestant Reformation, the collapse of old dynasties and rise of new ones.
EXPLORE alternate histories as you shape the world to meet your ambitions. What if England succeeded in pressing its continental claims? What if China pursued an overseas empire? What if Mongol supremacy in Russia persisted? Every action opens the possibility for an original history.

IMPOSE domestic peace in a divided realm. Keep your nation’s factions in line as Estates jockey for power in your nation. Offer privileges to one group of citizens while you limit the power of another, all in the service of keeping your population under control.
NEGOTIATE your way through an uneasy peace. Use diplomacy to entrench your dynasty across realms or build an invincible alliance. But remember that nations have no permanent friends - only permanent interests; so use your ambassadors carefully. Exact favors from friends, send threats to enemies, and keep an eye on everyone in-between.
CONQUER new lands to expand your borders. Wage War on those who impede your ambition in a completely new Europa Universalis military system. Start in the age of levies and mercenaries and, through social development, evolve to vast standing armies and impenetrable fortresses. Choose skilled commanders to oversee both land and naval forces.

BUILD a strong economic infrastructure in the most detailed trade system yet seen in a Europa Universalis game. Dozens of goods and crops are available for production and trade on a map filled with new riches to discover. Invest in feeding a growing population or trade your surplus to less bountiful societies.
MOLD your society to meet the historical moment. Choose your societal values, with new options opening as the ages move on. Centralize power at court or share it with your nobles. Pursue a tolerant policy for all faiths or condemn heretics. Emphasize massed armies or an elite cadre of quality soldiers.
GOVERN a nation composed of many cultures and faiths in a detailed simulation of the past. For the first time in Europa Universalis, populations are represented on the map in detail, so provinces may be divided by religion or culture. Your decisions will determine how these populations will fare under your leadership.

PREVAIL in the greatest strategic challenges of the past. Test your expertise in grand strategic planning on a worldscape larger and more detailed than seen in any previous Paradox Interactive game. Challenge yourself to outdo the most famous rulers of the past, eclipsing their grand accomplishments and building your own vision of a richly detailed globe.

Writing it with 1.3 beta in mind, and I like it. It's becoming more and more like Victoria 3 but with it's own flavor and much longer timeline with more impact. There is still a lot of polishing to be done and some feature are just there but not really impactfull or useful, like Trade companies and works of art, they are just there. There is still problem with RGO's that they are producing too much from the get go. Industrial revolution was about transport and production, even in 1.3 industrial revolution is in renaissance, similar with colonies, they are too easy to build and maintain and you have nearly whole world colonized at end of age of discovery. It's generally fun to play but still a lot of work required.
hard to master, fun to play with friends, hard for real time managment especialy if you play some normal speed(not max). must have for EU4 owners and plenty of new things to learn and keep watching for changes thru every update as it can change very important things that country you decide to play as may change and could easily end up by need to start anew as changes happened.
In the current state the game makes it virtually impossible to play wide or in general play how you want. The devs seem keen on forcing tall play. Eu4 was great because it gave the player a lot of agency and freedom to do nation building and play the way they want. It might honestly be impossible for the devs to fix it because many of the god awful mechanics are built into the core gameplay. A list of some of the tings that annoy me: CB through parliament, integration (coring) taking on average 25 years most of the time 50 years for a single province (you can only integrate a few provinces at a time through cabinet actions), the subject rework, armies getting stackwiped by 10 dudes (yes this can literally happen if your soldiers have 0 morale), the UI is very unintuitive (this is a bigger deal than most would think sometimes it can take 10 minutes or more for me to find what i am looking for.). "Be ambitious," right... There is literally a mountain of more stuff which is annoying with this game but they are more minor issues which the devs can probably fix. If you like playing tall and only tall then eu5 is for you but regardless the amount of headaches i have gotten from this game has put me off from revisiting unless they by some miracle save this junk.
Bring back mission trees. No more DLC until then, wallet closed.
If I'm gonna be honest here, I don't know about this game. There's a lot of aspects I like about it but there's also a lot of aspects I hate about it as well. The Pros: - The map is absolutely beautiful. Its defiantly a step above the old game graphics wise and the world feels huge. - There's tons of more provinces for you to own. There's also tons of more things for you to do with them as well like building cities on them and even depopulating them. - a 1337 startdate. In my opinion a much better one than the 1444 startdate in EU4 - A revamped and complex economic system that you DONT have to micromanage if you don't want to that also comes with more buildings. - A revamped trade system that you DONT have to micromanage that comes with the ability to create your own trade nodes/markets - An actual population system instead of the development system in EU4. no more "Push the magical button to increase your manpower". - An overall decrease in magical buttons in the game. - Some interesting situations and events to mess around with. - lots and lots of more countries for you to play Neutrals: - Army and Naval system is noticeably different compared to EU4. It has three different sections and some new units. It seems more tedious than fun. The Cons: - A bad UI with a bunch of missing features like monthly expenses for certain buildings. I lost a game because I spammed barracks, I thought they didn't have maintenance and I couldn't be bothered to sift through the menus in order to try and destroy them. - Despite having some interesting historical events, its still pretty bland and empty in that department. A lot of countries just don't have content. - A ridiculously overturned aggressive expansion system that makes it virtually impossible to conquer any provinces after 1630 or so. Like you can annex the handicapped parking spot outside of a McDonald's and these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ would form a coalition against you. - a great power system thats always stacked with Asian and Indian countries because they have loads of money and people despite Europeans historically being superior to them in every single way. There's also no tech penalties for them so they're on equal footing with the west. - The AI clearly gangs up on you even if there's no coalitions. Had the entirety of Europe fight me in my Byzantium game when I declared war on Naples during the Italian wars even though Naples conquered the papal states and countries like France and Milan had competing interests with them. I ultimately won it because... - The AI just sucks at fighting wars. They naval invade coastal forts and attack with peasant levies both of which result in immense casualties for them. The KD ratio I had in some of these wars is incredible. - Impossible to beat alliances in eastern Europe which makes ottoman expansion there impossible. - A ridiculously powerful Egypt that never collapses and cant be beaten in most cases. Thank god paradox set their ai to pacifist mode. - Colonial borders and colonization in general looks extremely ugly. - A whole host of bugs and issues with the game. - A research system with way too many things to research. - some very horrible game updates from paradox which fix one thing at the cost of breaking ten others. For a while you had a bug with secessionist rebels spawning everywhere which was later fix by an update that made other rebels spawn like two seconds after the game started. Ended up not playing the game for two months after that. - some mixed signals from paradox on where they want the game to go or how they want it to be played All in all I don't recommend this game in its current state. I'd say wait a year and then checkback to see if the game has improved or not.
As EU4 fan I really tried to like this, but it is a different game principle, basically another Victoria game for ultra nerds and micromanagers instead of strategic gameplay. This is really not what it claimed it would be, namely EU5.
Достойный наследник четвертой части. В игре огромная куча экономических и политических механик. Часть из них еще не отполирована, но когда в играх от Paradox было иначе? Разработчики выпускают дополнения и прислушиваются к игрокам, что радует.
