About
Almost five hundred years of history unfold before you in Europa Universalis V, the latest version of one of the greatest strategy games of all time. Guide the destiny of any of hundreds of nations and societies in a simulated living world of unparalleled depth and complexity.
Europa Universalis V builds on the franchise’s core concept of developing and advancing nations from around a deeply researched historical world, adding more detailed diplomacy, a more sophisticated economic model, a revised military system and greater logistical depth that will challenge even the most experienced strategy gamers.

RULE a land of your choosing. Hundreds of nations are yours to command, as you guide the destiny of millions of people through the late Middle Ages up to the Age of Revolution - from the mighty Yuán Dynasty to the city-states of Italy, from the warring clans of feudal Japan to the Pope himself.
DECIDE which course your nation will take. Historical events and situations await as you chart a unique path through a new history written by your decisions. Experience The Hundred Years’ War, the Protestant Reformation, the collapse of old dynasties and rise of new ones.
EXPLORE alternate histories as you shape the world to meet your ambitions. What if England succeeded in pressing its continental claims? What if China pursued an overseas empire? What if Mongol supremacy in Russia persisted? Every action opens the possibility for an original history.

IMPOSE domestic peace in a divided realm. Keep your nation’s factions in line as Estates jockey for power in your nation. Offer privileges to one group of citizens while you limit the power of another, all in the service of keeping your population under control.
NEGOTIATE your way through an uneasy peace. Use diplomacy to entrench your dynasty across realms or build an invincible alliance. But remember that nations have no permanent friends - only permanent interests; so use your ambassadors carefully. Exact favors from friends, send threats to enemies, and keep an eye on everyone in-between.
CONQUER new lands to expand your borders. Wage War on those who impede your ambition in a completely new Europa Universalis military system. Start in the age of levies and mercenaries and, through social development, evolve to vast standing armies and impenetrable fortresses. Choose skilled commanders to oversee both land and naval forces.

BUILD a strong economic infrastructure in the most detailed trade system yet seen in a Europa Universalis game. Dozens of goods and crops are available for production and trade on a map filled with new riches to discover. Invest in feeding a growing population or trade your surplus to less bountiful societies.
MOLD your society to meet the historical moment. Choose your societal values, with new options opening as the ages move on. Centralize power at court or share it with your nobles. Pursue a tolerant policy for all faiths or condemn heretics. Emphasize massed armies or an elite cadre of quality soldiers.
GOVERN a nation composed of many cultures and faiths in a detailed simulation of the past. For the first time in Europa Universalis, populations are represented on the map in detail, so provinces may be divided by religion or culture. Your decisions will determine how these populations will fare under your leadership.

PREVAIL in the greatest strategic challenges of the past. Test your expertise in grand strategic planning on a worldscape larger and more detailed than seen in any previous Paradox Interactive game. Challenge yourself to outdo the most famous rulers of the past, eclipsing their grand accomplishments and building your own vision of a richly detailed globe.

Can't recommend this game in its current state; it feels completely unfinished and lackluster at the moment. Most nations play exactly the same. Flavor is locked behind the tech tree instead of unique ideas, which feels like a nonsensical decision made purely to be different from EU4. On top of that, performance is terrible, and the balance changes every two months completely break previous fixes applied to overpowered nations like Bohemia. With that being said, the game will hopefully be in a decent state in about two years. Right now, though, I wouldn't play it even if it were free. It's really unfortunate because its predecessor was such a great game.
My schizo delegation has found this game positive. Yes it is excel spread sheet simulator, Without actually using excel. Containing what excel is missing, larp and hysterical elements. In two words, My ♥♥♥♥. No i did not like the game on release, It is only good in its current state as of now, 1.3. The Christmas break from PDX is the core reason for the negativity, They simply should've been working like elves. But their heads have turned on a swivel, And its my opinion that the game will be more palatable for everyone by the end of the year. For me 1.3 flipped a switch, Yes i still reload every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ event, that magically takes away 80 stab or gets england called into your independence war. Yes the east is broken, Japan is a critter of programming errors. Yes every HRE OPM has 10k Professionals by 1500 and then stacks up mercs on top. Yes you only have levies to make a decent economy and get declared for it. But somehow its fun, Minor nations are wiped out by late 1500 and that shouldn't be the case, But overall the aspect of progression has substantially improved, Buildings, You kinda just build buildings. Upcoming 1.4 fixing the cav issue, is a godsend. Then more professional tweaks, then proper colonialization; Which the game lacks, even as EU4's core tenant. I'd argue EU5 simply isn't at that point, Nobody likes late game anyways, Why are we so worried about it now? It's pragmatic to make the starting ages better first, We all knew the later ages we're going to be a ♥♥♥♥ show no matter. Early colonialism could be fixed in this expedition mechanic, hopefully replacing the god awful explorer mechanic. The game is good until 1500's (ish) And thats fine with me. It still does progressively get more aids until you cannot take it anymore, As all PDX games.
It's like they made a game specifically so that I would enjoy it. I actually enjoyed it on release, and it's only better now half a year later. I really think that the hyper-simulation angle that they're going for is what I've always wanted out of their games, and as long as they keep pushing the envelope of how complex and unabstract they can make the gameplay, it's worth a recommend. (As of 1.3 and 1.4, they definitely seem to be doing just that). Only complaints is that there are glaring some performance issues, not necessarily from the monthly tickrate but with actual graphics rendering and framerates, as well as what seems to be a memory leak when reloading saves. Also, the midgame is kind of a chore without too much to do besides upgrading and reinvesting money into your economy, because you usually end up accomplishing most of your expansion goals by that point as an experienced player, but the game isn't able to provide any challenge from there, I'd say around the 1500's. This has always been a strategy game problem though, that at some point you just "win" and have brought the game to a solved state, so I don't think it's just a problem with EU5, and its solutions are probably too frustrating for normal people to implement. (IMPERIALISM IS A BAD IDEA AND WILL KILL YOUR NATION FAMOUSLY) Realistic colonization (different kinds as well, claimed locations vs. actual settlements, lands being settled vs. just outposts, and so on), instead of just blobbing in North America endlessly and culture converting all of Africa), actual demography and urbanization, actual food mechanics, and ways to switch up the midgame are all on my wishlist for this game.
You will hate and love this game, just like you hate and love yourself.
Jogo muito fraco, parece um gerenciado de empresa e não de nações. Muito pésismo

This is a fantastic game and if you are interested in history and/or especially human geography I think that you will enjoy it. Obviously there is a steep learning curve and lots of moving parts, but it feels like this is the game I have been waiting for my whole life. Even as someone who has studied history at a postgrad level this game still surprises me and teaches me new things. The intricate modelling of individual people/population groups down to their religion, culture, social class, economic demands, political aspirations etc. also provokes you to think about how your rule is going to impact them and how they are going to respond to it. I think its the first game of this type that has really given me pause for thought about if the people I am conquering/influencing are going to respond well to me and how I can mitigate that by carrot and stick, rather than just clicking the 'crush them' button. It also makes you question things like 'how did the ottomans manage to rule a country with a Greek/Christian majority' and look into it yourself. The one negative I'd flag to watch out for is the pace of updates - often they will break your save games. I do not have time to play this game enough to finish a run between major updates. It is very frustrating to have a game broken by major changes and have to start from 1337 again. I'm excited to see where this game goes next as more flavour is added to an already amazing base!
